Junior C Gerrit Wittmann (uncommitted) led the way for Little Chute as the Mustangs clinched the conference championship in Denmark this past week. Tuesday marked the highlight of the week, as Wittmann launched three home runs in a dominant 12-5 victory over Denmark to secure the title. For the totals on the week, Wittmann went 6-for-10, with three home runs, ten RBIs, and three runs in three games. While on the season, the junior is batting .564, with 44 hits, 39 RBIs, and six home runs. For these reasons, the senior has been named this week’s Player of the Week.

In his first game of the week, Wittmann went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 3-1 victory over Wrigthstown. Wittmann came in clutch, producing an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, capping off a two-run inning where the Mustangs took the lead.

Then, in his second game of the week, the Junior exploded right out of the gate with a solo shot to get the scoring started during the top of the first. Denmark would regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth, but it wouldn't last long as in the next half Wittmann would send his second home run of the day over the left field wall, a two-run bomb to regain the lead. Denmark would come back once again during the next half gabbing a 5-3 lead, but once again Wittmann would answer back, this time with a fielder's choice, which drove in a run to take a 6-5 lead. Then, to end the day, Wittmann closed the door on Denmark with a three-run blast during the top of the 7th to shut down any hope of a comeback as the Mustangs clinched the Conference Championship. All being told, the junior would end his day going 4-for-5, with three home runs and seven RBIs.

Now to finish his week, Whitman would come in as a late substitute in the Mustangs final game against Denmark. The right-handed bat would go 1-for-2 with two RBIs as they worked their way to a 4-1 victory, capping off an outstanding week.

Currently ranked the 214th player in the Wisconsin 2027 class, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior has started to turn heads during the second half of the season. He’s been a catalyst at the top of the lineup for the Msutangs and will be looking to guide them to a deep postseason run.
