Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2027 State Rankings Risers (May 2026)
May 28, 2026
Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2027 class, now that the spring season has come to an end. Throughout the high school season, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before. Our state rankings for the 2027 class expanded to 315 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list. Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2027 CLASS)

Dylan Delaneuville LHP / Lutcher, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 3
From 05/20/26: "The talented southpaw from Lutcher delivered one of the most dominant pitching performances of the entire 2026 LHSAA State Tournament last week. Delaneuville entered in relief during Game 1 against Brusly and completely took over, firing the final four innings while allowing zero hits with just one walk and six strikeouts to earn the win. Working at a quick tempo, the uncommitted 2027 left-hander relentlessly attacked hitters with an 86-90 mph fastball that featured enough life through the zone to generate consistent swing-and-miss. His 76-79 mph slider was as sharp as we’ve seen it all spring, showing late, tight break with quality depth and sweep across the zone. As we head into the summer, Delaneuville has firmly established himself as a must-see uncommitted arm in Louisiana’s 2027 class."

Coleton Donaldson RHP / Sam Houston, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 6
From 05/20/26: "Physical 6-2, 180-pound frame with a wiry, lean build and plenty of room to continue adding strength. Donaldson once again rose to the occasion on the biggest stage, closing out the 2026 state title for the Broncos after also recording the final outs of their championship run in 2025. This year, however, the stuff took a noticeable jump forward and looked far more electric. Entering in relief during the 5th inning, the talented right-hander fired three no-hit innings while allowing only two walks and striking out four. His fastball sat 87-89 mph with lively action through the zone, but it was his advanced feel for spin that really separated him. Donaldson showed the ability to land both an 80-83 mph cutter and a 76-79 mph slider for strikes, with each pitch spinning north of 2,600 RPM. He’s also an intriguing long-term prospect because he won’t turn 18 until after graduation, giving him significant upside as he continues to mature physically and develop on the mound."

Shepherd Gammon 3B / OF / University Lab , LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 3
From 05/20/26: "U-High may have come up short in the Division III (Select) State Championship series, but that did little to overshadow the outstanding week that Gammon put together at the plate. Across the Cubs’ three games against Newman, the talented hitter went 5-for-12 (.417) with four doubles, four runs batted in, and four runs scored. What stood out most was his advanced ability to drive the baseball to all fields regardless of pitch type or location. Gammon consistently stayed balanced through contact and showed the ability to let the ball travel while still impacting it with authority from gap-to-gap. The athletic prospect also owns a lean, projectable 6-2, 180-pound frame with plenty of room remaining to add strength and physicality in the coming years, which only boosts his long-term upside at the next level."

Landen Derouen SS / RHP / Erath, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 7
Derouen put together a monster season for the Bobcats this spring, which led to a significant jump in our state rankings. The uncommitted standout hit an impressive .510 with 5 home runs, 20 doubles, 2 triples, 42 RBIs, and 34 runs scored. Most impressive, however, was his elite plate discipline, as he drew 24 walks while striking out only 4 times all season. With the kind of production and polish he showed this spring, Derouen figures to be a high-priority follow for college programs this summer.

Lane Dugas RHP / Opelousas Catholic, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 43 / POS: 9
From 02/23/26: "At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Dugas possesses a projectable, durable frame with plenty of room for continued strength gains. He got the start against Southside last Monday, marking our first look at him since May of last year, and he did not disappoint. Dugas earned a hard-luck no-decision after turning in a strong seven-inning performance, allowing 0 earned runs on just 2 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts on 93 pitches (57% strikes). He attacked hitters from the outset with an 85-88 mph fastball, holding his velocity deep into the outing and showing the ability to pitch off the heater effectively. His 74-76 mph curveball flashed true 11-to-5 shape, and he demonstrated feel for landing it in the zone early in counts before expanding it for swing-and-miss with two strikes. He also mixed in a 78-79 mph changeup with late fading action, confidently throwing it to both right- and left-handed hitters to keep them off balance. With his size, pitchability, and three-pitch mix, Dugas is a name college recruiters should have circled moving forward now that we’re past March 1st."
