As the 2026 California high school season came to a close, plenty of standout performances filled scorecards across the state. Throughout the spring, there was no shortage of memorable individual outings in games captured firsthand by our Prep Baseball California staff during the season.
This ranking series counts down my top 10 single-game standout performances seen across the greater San Diego area during the 2026 spring season, highlighting some of the top individual efforts from around the region.
Continuing with No. 6 is 2027 Owen Digenan after delivering one of the highest-stakes performances seen this spring in the San Diego area. Entering the matchup, Poway High School carried a 13-game winning streak into a winner-take-all league showdown against Westview High School, with the Avocado League title and season series both on the line. Poway’s last loss entering the game had also come against Westview earlier in the year.
With plenty at stake, the Cal State Fullerton commit turned in a complete-game effort, allowing just one unearned run over seven innings while striking out six on only 73 pitches. Digenan attacked the zone throughout the outing behind a strong three-pitch mix, working 84-86 mph and touching 87 with the fastball while effectively mixing both a curveball and slider that showed varying shapes to consistently disrupt hitter timing. The outing marked his third complete game of the spring and second complete game seen firsthand this season.
The performance capped off a strong junior campaign for Digenan, who finished 6-2 on the mound with 63 strikeouts and just 23 walks across nearly 60 innings pitched. He also hit .333 with two home runs as Poway’s everyday shortstop, helping earn First Team All-Avocado League honors along with team Pitcher of the Year recognition.
Stay tuned as the countdown continues with more of the top single-game performances seen this spring, next with No. 5.
