As the 2026 California high school season came to a close, plenty of standout performances filled scorecards across the state. Throughout the spring, there was no shortage of memorable individual outings in games captured firsthand by our Prep Baseball California staff during the season.

Over the course of the week, this series will count down my top 10 single-game standout performances seen across the greater San Diego area during the 2026 spring season, highlighting some of the top individual efforts from around the region.

Continuing with No. 8 is Barrett Grieve after a huge day at the plate during an April league game for The Bishop's School. The freshman shortstop reached base three times while launching two home runs and driving in five runs, accounting for over half of Bishop’s nine runs in the victory.

Both home runs were driven out to left-center field over the tall wall at La Jolla Country Day, showing present power and feel for the barrel for a player still early in his high school career. Grieve brings a calming presence in the box with balance throughout the finish, while also moving well defensively with sound actions at the shortstop position. The nearly 6-foot-2 frame is a big stand-out trait for Grieve as an up-the-middle position player, and while most of his time overall this spring was seen at second base, the expectation is for Grieve to slide over to shortstop full-time in 2027.

Grieve also comes from MLB bloodlines as the son of longtime big leaguer Ben Grieve, adding even more intrigue to his stock in the 2029 class.
