The 2026 VA/DC high school season fully and officially kicked off on March 16th. We continue our weekly awards for a couple different areas, including today's featured Team of the Week. Team of the Week will run each and every Tuesday. This story will highlight a team that had a strong week, which usually includes at least one win over a Power 25/quality opponent.

While we do not necessarily like to award the same team Team of the Week twice, there was no way around it. Backs against the wall down 0-1 in a three game series for the WCAC Championship, DJO scrapped and clawed their way back, walked off PVI in extras to tie it up at 1-1, then went on to win the series and WCAC title on Sunday. In addition to their series win over Paul VI, O'Connell had two wins over Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD) to advanced to the finals. The WCAC champs are 26-6 on the season with their best wins coming vs Paul VI (2), Highland School, Battlefield, and Oceanside Collegiate (SC). This week they prepare to take a run at the VISAA DI title, with another potential matchup with PVI looming late this week.
