The spring update is arguably the most important and most in depth update of the year. Our staff has taken in more than 240 games this season and during the course of that time, we have gathered evaluations, provided updated scout blogs, updated pitching velos, discussed players on High & Tight, and spent hundreds of hours observing and scouting thousands of players in the state of Virginia & DC. With all of that time put in, we also do a complete overhaul of the entire database of profiles within each class. With the 2029 class our staff has combed and crosschecked more than 1100 profiles in the state to try and be as thorough as possible. The full schedule for the week is as follows: Rankings Risers, New Faces, Top 50, and Overall Class Update.
Today we dive into a group of New Faces from the VA/DC Class of 2029. This is a group of players that enter the rankings in this update due to some of the in game impact that they have had over the course of the season. Take a look at video and notes on a small group of players that will make their way into the rankings this week.

Alex Adams C / OF / James River High, VA / 2029Adams has made a big splash on the varsity level with the Rapids. He has shown some offensive production in the heart of the order, being a reliable left-handed hitter. He has shown the ability to handle the bat with minimal movement and tight barrel turns. He has the barrel awareness to cover all parts of the field, flashing some impact to the pull side. It is lean strength with some room to tighten up the frame and add some bulk long-term. Defensively, he is an average defender behind that plate that shows some promise with more room to develop.

Brogan Fitzgerald SS / RHP / SDHS, VA / 2029A lean, athletic frame that brings some intrigue for the future. An easy mover on the mound with an arm action that works and maintains arm speed. The fastball is heavy and can creep into the mid-eighties at times. He shows two different breaking balls that he can land in the zone for strikes. The slider has shown the ability to miss a few more bats in two strike counts. There is room to add strength and that could see a velocity increase in the future.

Colton Jennings LHP / OF / Turner Ashby High, VA / 2029A long, lanky frame that has plenty of room to add some serious strength. He has shown the ability to handle the bat from the left-hand side. There is some length in the swing that has shown some adjustability. There is some natural loft in the path that can lift the baseball. He works from gap to gap, with the majority of the impact going to the pull side. It is a corner outfield profile that has a chance to pick up some future impact to match the profile.

Orion Loredo 1B / OF / Nandua High, VA / 2029A physical presence with advanced physicality for the class. He has been an impact bat as a freshman that hasn’t been shy to get his best swings off. He is aggressive and takes big hacks, looking to impact the baseball in all counts. He gets the barrel out early that does damage to the pull side but has the strength to use the opposite field. While some of the swing decisions will have to be cleaned up, the ability to impact the baseball at a high rate is the reward. Defensively, it is a corner profile at first base or right field. There is some polishing that needs to be done, but the evident power potential gives some future intrigue.

Rylan Young 1B / RHP / Franklin County High, VA / 2029Young brings plenty of physicality offensively, as he was a producer in a talented Franklin County lineup. He showed the ability to handle the bat and use his strength to all fields. While there is the ability to impact the baseball, he showed some finesse with being able to hit for average and use the opposite field. He shows confidence in the box and comfortability against quality arms. Franklin County continues to have talent, and Young looks like the next up.
