Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week: Terrell Hampton-Hall

Clayton Hopfinger
Illinois Staff

De La Salle’s Terrell Hampton-Hall (2029) is our latest Player of the Week, finishing his week at the plate 13-for-16 with four doubles, a triple, three home runs, 13 RBIs and seven runs scored. He led the Meteors to a perfect 4-0 week, picking up four key wins in Chicago Catholic League play. He is the first freshman to be named one of Prep Baseball Illinois’ Player or Pitcher of the Week since 2024.

On Saturday the 2nd, Hampton-Hall went an impressive 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 10-9 loss to St. Francis.

He stayed hot into Monday with a perfect day at the plate against Aurora, finishing the day 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk, and three runs scored en route to the win.

Hampton-Hall would see Aurora again on Tuesday and was instrumental in the 7-0 win, helping to score six of the seven runs scored. He finished the day 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs, and came across to score twice in the win.

De La Salle would play IC Catholic where Hampton-Hall would continue his offensive onslaught, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, 2 RBIs and a run scored. On Saturday he would see IC Catholic again, where he would cap off the week 1-for-2 with a RBI and two runs scored.

Hampton-Hall is one of the top players in the state, currently coming in at No. 3 in Illinois’ 2029 class. Hampton-Hall is an advanced catcher for his age, registering pop times in the 1.90-2.00 while possessing highly-advanced hands and pitch presenting ability for his age. We saw him earlier this winter at the Preseason All-State: Underclass event, where he also displayed consistent loud contact with a max exit velo of 101 mph and an average of 92.2 mph. He’s a talented backstop with a polished right-handed bat, and his best days are still yet to come.

We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.

Scouting Report

3/05/26

6-foot, 211-pound, right-handed hitting catcher, separated himself in pretty much every area at the event. He was arguably one of the top receivers throughout the entire pitching portion of the event working extremely quiet behind the plate with highly-advanced hands and pitch presenting ability for someone his age. Handled a number of arms with ease. His bat was also highly-impressive and looks to be a high-end defensive receiver, who profiles in the middle-of-the-order offensively which is rare and extremely valuable to find. He has a balanced, strong swing with fluidity throughout, works gap-to-gap and made a bunch of loud hard contact throughout his round; 92.2 mph average EV, T101 mph. He also has high-end bat speed for his age, averaging 72.2 mph bat speed. On top of that he topped at 76 mph from the crouch and registered 1.90-2.00 pop times. One of the top prospects in the Midwest.
