The spring update is arguably the most important and most in depth update of the year. Our staff has taken in more than 240 games this season and during the course of that time, we have gathered evaluations, provided updated scout blogs, updated pitching velos, discussed players on High & Tight, and spent hundreds of hours observing and scouting thousands of players in the state of Virginia & DC. With all of that time put in, we also do a complete overhaul of the entire database of profiles within each class. With the 2027 class our staff has combed and crosschecked more than 1300 profiles in the state to try and be as thorough as possible. The full schedule for the week is as follows: Rankings Risers, New Faces, Top 50, Overall Class Update, and Case for #1.

+ Noah Wantuck - C - Herndon HS
Listed at 5-foot-9 and 170-pounds, it is a more compact and proportional frame. Average arm strength, solid defender behind the plate, and continues to flash a solid offensive skillset. Contact over power with a feel to hit. More line drives than extra base hits and works line to line in his approach. At the plate he starts open, has rhythm in the hands and load, and delivers a level path through the zone with a shorter path to contact. While it is still more hit for average, the impact has certainly picked up in comparison to the past. The biggest turnaround for Wantuck is the increased percentage of quality contact when we have seen him. Moves up more than 20 spots.

+ Matthew Son - 3B - Independence HS
Son has been one of the more consistent hitters that we have seen this spring. Slightly open setup, hands preset back, and an arm bar in the setup. Despite some of the pre-pitch positions, he has handled velo, has stayed inside at contact, and has shown a really solid feel for timing. Most of the contact has been to from pullside gap to the line. He has shown added impact and the ability to drive the ball for extra bases. Has played third base when we have seen him and has been an average defender. Potentially 2B/LF/3B depending on the level of play, but the offense has certainly shown well enough to impact a lineup. Moves up more than 60 spots.

+ Daniel Lee - 3B - Freedom (South Riding) HS
Listed at 5-foot-11 and 170-pounds, Lee has a proportional and athletic frame. Average athleticism and a hit tool type of bat. In the past, the offense has been inconsistent and has lacked quality contact. Lee seems to have settled into who he is a little more. Smaller lift and keeps things a bit simpler than previous times we have seen him. Lands slightly open and clears the front side to get the barrel through. Short and later hand load, shorter path to contact, and did a solid job handling velo and matching planes. Moved up a little more than 20 spots.

+ Tyson Moravec - SS - Greenbrier Christian
Moravec is one of the bigger movers in this update. He jumps nearly 50 spots after a strong spring for GCA. Where has he made the most gains? Basically everywhere. While he was the starting shortstop for the Gators in 2025, he was buried in a talented lineup and got overshadowed at times with some of the offensive production and playmaking. This spring he hit in the leadoff for GCA, hitting to a tune of .443 with 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 3 homeruns. To go along with some added impact, Moravec swiped 27 bases. He is not a high end runner, but is aggressive and shows some instincts. While the offense is solid, the defense was the winner for us. When our staff saw him, he made it look easy at times at short. Picks around the bag, throws on the run, and just moving easier and with more confidence. We would not say it is necessarily a defense first profile, but his ability to play multiple infield spots certainly is at the forefront of the conversation for what Moravec brings to the table.
