2026 Indiana Player of the Week: Week 7

Indiana's Player of the Week award will be handed out each Tuesday during the spring. We heavily rely upon coaches submissions for each week's award, so please submit candidates each week to [email protected] via email.

After RHP/OF Aiden Smith won Week #6 honors with a record setting week that included one of the top two-way performances of any player in the state and a new Shelbyville record for career home runs, Cutler Chastain wins Week #7 honors as he led Bedford North Lawrence to their first Hoosier Hills Conference title in school history with a pair of dominant wins on the hill. 


Week #7 Player of the Week

Cutler Chastain LHP / Bedford-North Lawrence, IN / 2027

+ The Indiana State recruit helped BNL to their first Hoosier Hills Conference Championship in school history during Week #7 to earn him Player of the Week honors for the state of Indiana. Across two dominant performances on the mound, Chastain struck out twenty-six batters across thirteen innings pitched - allowing zero earned runs. He also collected (4) hits throughout the week, three of which went for extra-bases (2 2B, 3B). 


Honorable Mentions

+ Eli Shoppell, RHP, 2027, Homestead: Shoppell continues to trend as one of the top uncommitted junior pitchers in the class with his performances this spring. Versus #2 Crown Point, he went (6) innings pitched, allowing just (1) earned and zero walks, while striking out (10) against a potent lineup to earn the win. 

+ William Rodriguez, 1B, 2026, Peru: Rodriguez slugged in a major fashion last week while going 7-for-13 with a double, and (5) (!!) Home Runs; clubbing one against Maconaquah, one against Rochester, and three in one game versus Pioneer.

+ Mason Meyer, CF, 2027, Mt. Vernon, Arizona State recruit: The Arizona State recruit continued to swing a hot-bat and our staff was in attendance to see it. He went 11-for-19 throughout six games, including (3) doubles, a triple, and a homer. He also added (6) RBI and (5) stolen bases. 

+ Nathan Sutherlin: SS/P, 2026, Greencastle HS, Marian recruit: Sutherlin went 10-for-18 last week with a double, triple, and a pair of homers. He added (6) runs scored, (10) RBI, and (6) SB's, as well. On the mound, he picked up a pair of wins across two appearances, including a complete game win over Cascade. In total, he struck out (13), allowed (8) hits, (3) runs, and (0) walks in (10) innings of work. 

+ Reis Bellar, OF, 2026, Peru, Marian recruit: Over four games, Bellar hit (.688; 11-for-16) on the week including a double, triple, and (2) homers. He reached base at a (.722) clip, also. 

+ Adler Kellams, OF/LHP, 2029, Carroll HS: Our top-ranked freshman had a huge week for Carroll, helping them to a sweep over #4 Homestead and a win over Snider. In three games, Kellams went 7-for-9, had a pair of doubles, a triple, a homer, (8) RBI, and stole (6) bases. He also was on-base in 9-of-12 trips. 

+ Guerin Boshears, RHP, 2027, Beech Grove, Wright State recruit: Boshears threw (2) seperate complete games last week, earning the win in each start. In total, he struck out (17), and allowed just (1) earned run. 

+ Mikey Stapleton, MIF, 2026, Lafayette Central Catholic, DePauw recruit: Stapleton slashed .636 / .667 / 1.273 last week with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run and added 8 RBI.

+ Brycen Mroz, C/RHP/INF, 2027, Northeast Dubois: Brycen continued to stay hot at the plate this week going 11-for-18 (0.611 BA), hitting his 4th HR on the season, 3 doubles, 7 RBI, and scored 5x. He also had 6 K’s and just 1 ER over 5-1/3 IP on the week.

+ Carter Strole, SS/RHP, 2027, Fishers High School, Central Michigan recruit: Strole went 6-for-9 last week with a pair of homers, a double, (8) RBI, (5) SB, and (8) runs scored. He also worked (4) scoreless on the bump, earning a save, and he allowed just (1) hit while striking out (5) to help the Tigers to an undefeated week. 

+ Christian Kropa, SS/P, 2026, North Central: Kropa went 12-for-15 (.800) last week with a pair of doubles, (8) RBI, and (7) runs scored. He also earned the win over 3A power Twin Lakes, striking out six in that performance. 

+ Brock Kintner, CF, 2026, Columbus North, Marian recruit: Kintner hit (.615) for the Bulldogs last week, adding (8) hits - including (2) doubles, (1) triple, and (6) runs scored. 

+ Nate Southwell, RF/1B, 2026, Munster, IU-Kokomo recruit: Southwell went 6-for-12 on the week with a triple, a homer (6th of the spring), while walking twice and adding a pair of RBI.

+ Eli Sinsabaugh, SS, 2026, Cathedral, Army recruit: The former Future Gamer went 7-for-15 for the Irish last week - including (3) doubles, (5) RBI from the lead-off spot, (6) runs scored, and he also swiped (5) bases. 

+ Troy Barrett, LHP/OF, 2026, Chesterton, Purdue recruit: Barrett struck out (15) batters this week in a 2-hit, 0-run performance to maintain a perfect 7-0 record on the mound this season. He added a pair of extra-base hits on the offensive side, as well. 

+ Michael Gallagher, 1B, 2026, Cathedral: Gallagher hit .500 last week (9-for-18) and slugged, adding (3) doubles, a triple, and a homer while driving in (7) and scoring 7x on his own.
