Our staff has had plenty of looks at Canada's 2026 prep class between the Super 60, our showcases, facility visits, Team Canada coverage and early in-game action. With the draft coverage ramping up, Prep Baseball Ontario scout, Michael Stavraky, provides updated scouting notes and video on eight potential draft prospects who have caught his attention sof ar this year.

Robert Omidi SS / 3B / St. Martin, ON / 2026

Fieldhouse Pirates / University of Kentucky
2026 is going to be an important year for the high school third baseman who has had plenty of pro looks thus far. Second base or left field profile down the road with the hit/power tools standing out. He will also showcase himself next month as a catcher for pro scouts. Omidi projects to be a middle-of-the-lineup bat that gets one base and collects his fair share of extra-base hits. Throughout his career in the Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL), Omidi has recorded multiple years with more home runs than strikeouts. He has proven to be a tough at-bat against any arm, high school or pro, and he will continue to be a tough out, heading into the next level of baseball. He has a simple, open stance with loose hands and electric bat speed with the ability to use the whole field for power. He has hit at every level he has played in. He has gained plenty of experience with the Canadian Junior National Team and Canada Premiere team and is a two-time Future Games participant and 2026 Super 60 alum. Our staff has had the pleasure of watching Omidi throughout his prep career, and we are excited to see what 2026 holds for the young Canadian star.

Elliot Lascelles SS / Upper Canada College, ON / 2026

Toronto Mets / Yale University
One of the biggest risers in Canada, Lascelles’ draft stock has skyrocketed since he jumped onto the scene in 2024 as a Canadian Future Gamer. Lascelles projects to be a top-of-the-order, leadoff type bat that gets on base and steals plenty of bases. Speedy infielder that projects to stick up the middle and could even be tested in centre field with the tools he has. In the box, he has a very simple setup with elite bat-to-ball skills and the ability to use the whole field to his advantage. The hit/run tools stand out as he continues to swing it well against all competition he faces. We have seen EVs up to 100+ mph with wood while running a 6.60 60-yard at the Super 60 in February. He is a tooled-up shortstop with good makeup and has the potential to provide value at the major league level for a lengthy period of time.
