NOTABLE RECAPS FROM THURSDAY
#3 Gunnison Valley (0) vs. #2 Kanab (2) - 2A QUARTERFINAL
In a 2A pitching masterclass, the Kanab Cowboys rode the electric right arm of Walker Baird to a narrow 2–0 victory over the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs. Baird was the definition of dominant, silencing the Gunnison bats with a masterful 14-strikeout, one-hit shutout that kept the Bulldogs guessing from the first pitch to the last. On the opposite side, Waylon Sorenson put together a heroic effort for the Bulldogs, racking up 12 strikeouts of his own and surrendering zero earned runs, but his performance was spoiled by a lack of run support and costly defensive miscues. Kanab found just enough offensive rhythm to pull ahead, fueled by a clutch triple from Grady Anderson and timely RBI knocks from Latimer Glover and Baird himself. This high-stakes duel highlighted the best of 2A pitching talent as both starters went the distance in one of the cleanest defensive games of the postseason.

#14 Juan Diego Catholic (2) vs. #3 Timpanogos (3) - 4A SUPER REGIONAL GAME 1
In a nail-biting showdown that came down to the final swing, the Timpanogos Timberwolves outlasted the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle to secure a 3–2 walk-off victory. The game was a textbook pitcher's duel between Canyon Clegg and Nash Crowther, with Clegg ultimately going the distance for the Timberwolves, surrendering only two hits in a masterful seven-inning performance. Juan Diego found a momentary spark through a solo home run from Lange Livonius, but the Soaring Eagle struggled to mount a consistent threat against Clegg's efficient command. Entering the bottom of the seventh with the score deadlocked, Bronco Blackhurst played the hero, driving a clutch base hit to left field to score the winning runs and ignite a celebration around the infield. While Crowther was gritty for Juan Diego, navigating 110 pitches to keep his team in the hunt, the night belonged to a Timpanogos lineup anchored by Andrew Allphin, who provided the necessary stability to set the stage for Blackhurst's late-game heroics. Game 2 takes place later today at 1pm at Timpanogos.

#10 Emery (1) vs. #7 North Sanpete (3) - 3A SUPER REGIONAL GAME 1
The North Sanpete Hawks claimed the upper hand in their series opener, outlasting the Emery Spartans in a 3–1 thriller that centered on a high-stakes duel between two of 3A's top arms. The game transformed into a strikeout clinic, with North Sanpete’s Bryce Swapp and Emery’s Garrett Conover combining for a staggering 21 punchouts. While Conover was nearly impossible to solve for most of the night—fanning 11 Hawks in just six innings—Hudson Smith delivered the game's singular moment of impact with a towering three-run home run in the 5th, that cleared the bases and provided all the offense North Sanpete would need. Swapp was equally relentless, navigating a complete-game performance and keeping the Spartans off-balance despite a multi-hit effort from Trygg Jensen. With the Hawks securing this narrow victory, the pressure shifts to Emery as they look to even the series in Game 2.

#9 Dixie (6) vs. #8 Mountain Crest (5) - 4A SUPER REGIONAL GAME 1
The Dixie Flyers drew first blood in their three-game set against the Mountain Crest Mustangs, gutting out a 6–5 victory in a series opener that was tight until the very last out. Dixie’s offense found its rhythm early behind a standout day from Weston Gilmore, who racked up three hits and two RBIs, while Jonny McGuire delivered a massive blow with a two-run double. Mountain Crest countered with plenty of grit, manufacturing runs through an Ethan Nielsen triple and a multi-RBI effort from Jackson Pearce, but they couldn't quite find the equalizer against a resilient Flyers defense. Carson Hunt earned the win with a gritty six-inning performance on the mound, and Jordan Andreas entered in the seventh to close the book on the Mustangs' comeback attempt. With the win, Dixie moves just one victory away from taking the series, while Mountain Crest looks to bounce back in Game 2.

#4 San Juan (13) vs. #1 Beaver (8) - 2A QUARTERFINAL
In a seismic 2A quarterfinal shocker, the San Juan Broncos turned the bracket upside down by toppling the top-seeded Beaver Beavers in a high-scoring 13–8 shootout. The Broncos' offense was a freight train from the jump, feasting on a Beaver pitching staff that uncharacteristically struggled with command, surrendering nine walks and five hit batsmen. Kreed Herring was the catalyst for the upset, delivering a flawless 3-for-3 performance at the dish—featuring both a double and a triple—while also gutting out nearly five innings on the bump to claim the victory. Beaver refused to surrender without a fight, racking up 12 hits including a perfect afternoon from Beckham Beaumont, but they couldn't overcome the steady pressure of a San Juan lineup that saw Jagger Nieves and Grady Lacy come up with massive extra-base knocks in clutch moments. By the time Makson Perkins recorded the final out, the Broncos had officially punched their ticket to the semifinals, leaving the defending state favorites stunned and headed into the loser's side of the bracket.
