Missouri Class of 2028 Rankings Update: Preseason Edition

The 2026 Missouri high school baseball season is heading down the home stretch, and with our full slate of preseason events now complete, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has made an update to the Show-Me State’s 2028 rankings.

Following our preseason showcase season, this update is packed full of movement and includes over ninety newcomers that enter our rankings as we expand to 150 players.
Below, we take a closer look at this update, highlighting the top of the rankings while also examining the class as a whole, including notable newcomers and names trending upward. Read on for the full breakdown.

Jon Calcaterra 3B / RHP / Lindbergh, MO / 2028As physical as they come at 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds, Calcaterra took another massive jump this offseason on both sides of the ball and is currently putting together a strong spring for Lindbergh. He climbs four spots into the top five as he continues to establish himself as one of the premier two-way talents in Missouri. At our Recruits Scout Day this winter, he ran his fastball up to 91 mph and paired that arm strength with near triple-digit exit velocities at the plate at our Missouri Preseason All-State. |

Cade Cantrell RHP / 3B / Knob Noster, MO / 2028One of the premier arms in Missouri’s 2026 class, Cantrell continues his steady climb toward the top. He delivered a loud performance at our MOKAN Preseason All-State this winter, where he sat in the upper 80s and touched 89 mph with heavy arm-side run. Since then, Cantrell has reached the low 90s this spring for Knob Noster. With a frame that still has plenty of room for added strength, he jumps six spots in this update to land at No. 7 overall. |

Asher Krimmel RHP / 3B / Lafayette, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 2
One of the biggest winners of the winter regardless of class, Krimmel shoots up nine spots to claim No. 8 in our latest update. Arguably one of the most projectable arms in the state 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, he turned heads at the Rawlings Tigers Scout Day by effortlessly running his fastball up to 90 mph with feel to consistently landing his secondary offerings for strikes. Krimmel has established himself as a must-see arm for coaches this spring and summer. |

Liam Matthews 3B / RHP / Rockwood Summit, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 29 / POS: 6
One of the biggest risers in this update, Matthews vaults over 35 spots to land at No. 29. He took a massive leap this offseason, showcasing significant strength gains at our Naturals Scout Day. On the mound, he worked in the upper 80s, topping out at 88 mph, while also flashing raw power at the plate with 97 mph exit velocities. With an imposing 6-foot-5, 199-pound frame, there is still plenty of physical upside to tap into, making him a name that could easily continue his climb. |

Evan Tucker LHP / 1B / Lincoln Prep, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 48 / POS: 3
Tucker is another arm who took a huge jump this winter, adding nearly seven mph to his fastball at our MOKAN Preseason All-State. The 6-foot-2, 204-pound lefty was up to 87 mph while showing feel for both a slider and changeup, having added significant size and strength since our last look. The Lincoln Prep product rises 14 spots, landing inside the top 50. |

Karson Wiskur 3B / RHP / Smith-Cotton, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 4
Wiskur made a major statement at our Kansas City Preseason ID, showcasing some of the loudest tools in the class. The physical infielder produced an explosive round of BP posting a massive 106 mph peak exit velocity and matched it with a 90 mph infield velocity. He makes a his debut in our rankings at No. 20 and will be a must-see name throughout the spring and summer. |

Ryan Maloney RHP / OF / Mehlville, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 7
Making his debut in the rankings at No. 31, Maloney is a high-follow name coming out of the Recruits Scout Day. A strong presence at 6-foot, 175 pounds, the right-hander impressed with a high-spin fastball that reached 86 mph that he paired with a tight, 2,400 RPM slider that he commanded for strikes throughout his outing. |

Eliyah Powell C / 1B / MICDS, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 4
Powell emerged as a winner from our Missouri Preseason All-State, where he showcased impressive arm strength behind the dish, posting 76 mph velocity with pop times ranging from 1.95–2.02, while also displaying a consistent feel for the barrel at the plate. Standing at a lean, projectable 6-foot-1 and 178 pounds, his frame offers plenty of room to add size and strength. Powell makes his debut in our rankings at No. 36. |

Chase Stearns OF / RHP / Parkway Central, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 41 / POS: 7
Stearnes put together a strong, two-way performance at our Missouri Preseason All-State and Rawlings Tigers Scout Day, showcasing tools on both sides of the ball. The athletic outfielder turned heads at the plate with 98 mph exit velocities and a natural feel for the barrel, which he paired with a 87 mph arm from the outfield. An athletic prospect who is having a strong spring for the Colts, Stearnes makes his rankings debut at No. 41. |

Will Evert RHP / Raymore-Peculiar, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 45 / POS: 9
The physical 6-foot-4, 216-pound right-hander, made a notable jump on the mound at our Kansas City Preseason ID featuring an arsenal that is headlined by an upper-87s fastball, which he complements with a high-spin secondary mix: a 2,500 RPM slider and a 2,900 RPM curveball, along with a changeup. Entering the rankings at No. 45, Evert could see his stock steadily rise as he continues to tap into his frame. |

Dinges makes his rankings debut at No. 46 following a standout performance at the Missouri Preseason All-State this past winter. A high-level all-around athlete and strong defender up the middle, Dinges already displays a strong feel for the barrel with more impact on the way as he continues to add strength to his frame. |

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound two-way prospect stood out on both sides of the ball at the South Arkansas Fall ID and Marucci Midwest Scout Day, but it is his work on the mound that puts him in the top 50 as he enters the rankings for the first time. Goodell features an upper-80s fastball that he commands in the zone, complemented by a five-pitch mix that includes a curveball, changeup, cutter, and sinker. |

The lean 6-foot-1, 183-pound right-hander turned heads with a loud round of BP at our Missouri Preseason All-State, utilizing a quick, level right-handed swing, to consistently produce triple-digit exit velocities. His combination of present power and an upside athletic frame earns him a debut at No. 55 in this update. |

Jackson Murmylo RHP / OF / Liberty North, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 57 / POS: 12
Making his debut at No. 57, Murmylo is another Kansas City area arm that showed exciting stuff on the mound this winter at the Kansas City Preseason ID, running his fastball up to 87 mph with a feel for a curveball/splitter mix. As he continues to polish his game and fill out his frame, he will be a must-see prospect this summer. |

Kindle makes his debut at No. 58 in this update after a strong showing at our Kansas City Preseason ID. The athletic Smith-Cotton infielder has added significant strength and size since our last look and now produces mid-90s exit velocities at the plate. |
