NOTABLE TEAMS IN WEEK 9 MOVING UP 📈
Pleasant Grove
The Pleasant Grove Vikings (17-7) have surged into the top five after a statement week in 5A play. The Vikings have been an offensive juggernaut recently, punishing mistakes and showcasing deep lineup depth that makes them a nightmare for opposing rotations. With senior leadership anchoring the defense and a pitching staff that is finding its peak form at the perfect time, Pleasant Grove has cemented its status as a legit 5A title threat. Their ability to consistently win high-leverage region games has them sitting pretty at #4 as we approach the postseason.
American Fork
The American Fork Cavemen (14-8) are playing their best baseball of the season, jumping five spots to #5. Always known for peaking in May, the Cavemen put the state on notice this week with a massive series sweep that highlighted their high-end rotation, offensive potential and defensive grit. With a roster that is fully healthy and firing on all cylinders, American Fork is proving that their early-season schedule has battle-tested them for the stretch run. If they continue to dominate the zone as they did over the last seven days, they will be a very difficult out in the state tournament.
Lehi
The biggest mover of the week, the Lehi Pioneers (12-9) rocketed up 10 spots to #13 after a signature series win. The Pioneers enjoyed a spectacular string of games, highlighted by a dominant region sweep where they outscored their opponents significantly and imposed their will. Their resurgent offense, coupled with a pitching staff that surrendered minimal traffic, has completely shifted the momentum of their season. Lehi is playing with a "refuse to lose" swagger right now, and their ability to execute in clutch situations has them looking like a dangerous sleeper in the 6A classification.
West Field
The West Field Longhorns (18-4) continue to impress, moving up four spots to #16. In their first season with new Head Coach Tyler Barfuss, the Longhorns have reached the 18-win milestone and are asserting themselves as a clear threat in the 5A ranks. Their past week was defined by disciplined at-bats and clinical defensive work, securing key victories that keep them atop their region standings. With a pitching staff that consistently throws strikes and a dugout full of energy, West Field is proving that they aren't just "new kids on the block"—they are legitimate championship contenders.
Grantsville
The Grantsville Cowboys (19-4) continue their march toward the 20-win mark, climbing to #24 this week. Dominating the 3A landscape, the Cowboys have utilized a high-octane offense and aggressive baserunning to overwhelm their recent competition. Over the past week, they showed no signs of slowing down, posting lopsided scores and maintaining their reputation as the team to beat in their classification. Grantsville’s consistency and veteran poise under pressure have them poised for a deep postseason run as they continue to remain in the Power 25.
