Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. The Champions got the scoring started early in the first inning when Alex Zeigler (2026; Grinnell Commit) and Conor Sullivan (2026) hit back-to-back RBI singles. Later, Matt Young (2026; UW-Whitewater Commit) extended the deficit by hitting an RBI double. Charles Lust (2027) and Ronan Owens (2026; UMass Commit) combined for a three-hit shutout. Lust threw five innings and struck out eight batters to earn to the win while Owens recorded the six-out save and struck out four of the eight batters he faced.

Mike Preuss (2027) earned the win on the bump, tossing five and a third of one-run (unearned) ball on two hit with two strikeouts.

Wheaton North took down No. 13 Geneva for the second day in a row, this time by the score of 4-2. RBI singles came from Will Gainey (2028) and Zander Zielinski (2026; Clarkson Commit). Kyle Eddy (2026) had himself an RBI groundout for his productive at-bat. Jacob Bergeron (2026) played the long ball by hitting a solo home run. Nic Pisciotta (2026) was busy on the basebaths as he stole three bases of the game for the Falcons. Zander Zielinski went the distance on the mound by tossing a complete game and striking out four batters. For Geneva, their offense came from Alex Abraham (2027) when the knocked in both RBIs for the Vikings on his two-run double.

Trevor Ames (2026; Morton JC Commit) led the Spartans offense with three RBIs of the game. He went 2-for-3 with a single, two-RBI double, and the game-tying sacrifice fly that he hit in the seventh inning. Two batters later after the sacrifice fly, Dalton York (2027) walked off East Peoria by reaching on an error that allowed the winning run to score. This victory improves to 28-2 of the season for the Spartans.

Abraham Caseres (2026) provided a boost offensively, driving in two runs on one hit, while Jack Slightom (2026: Cincinnati commit) was dominant on the mound, going the distance and allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out 11.

RHP Mikey Garner (2027) got the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out three for the Warriors (26-4).
