Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Prep Baseball Oregon Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations submitted through our POTW Google Form.

Additionally, we will continue our Oregon Diamond Notes to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Pitcher or Hitter of the Week.

This week's Hitter of the Week is '28 OF Sam Smith (Central Catholic).

OREGON HITTER OF THE WEEK (5/4-5/10)

Sam Smith OF / LHP / Central Catholic, OR / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 233 / POS: 53 The top-ranked sophomore in the state had a big set of games at the plate last week to win Hitter of the Week. Smith finished 7-8 across 3 games played, slugging a home run, triple and a double. He also added 4 walks, 5 runs and 5 RBI. Smith was exceptional at PNW Preseason All-State this winter and will have plenty of eyes on him this summer.
