QUICK HITS 📝

Dylan Simmons RHP / 2B / Forrest County, MS / 2027

Is a promising right-hander out of Forrest County Agricultural High School with a compact 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame and a polished feel for pitching. Simmons worked his fastball up to 81.3 mph and showed some quality arm-side run that helped keep hitters uncomfortable. His best secondary offering may be a changeup that mirrors his fastball arm action exceptionally well, creating deception and generating weak contact. He also showed a curveball with good shape and depth that projects as another effective weapon in his arsenal. With a solid three-pitch mix, feel for sequencing, and the ability to command multiple offerings, Simmons is a young arm that deserves attention and is definitely one to keep an eye on moving forward.

Troy Driskell SS / 2B / East Central High School, MS / 2028

Is an exciting young infielder out of East Central High School who put together a strong all-around showing. At 5-foot-9, 158 pounds, Driskell opened the day by posting an impressive 6.83 in the 60-yard dash, showcasing the athleticism that translates well onto the field. Defensively, he was one of the more polished infielders in attendance, displaying good feet, soft hands, and smooth actions at shortstop while showing adequate arm strength to handle any infield position. At the plate, Driskell worked primarily from the middle of the field to the pull side during batting practice and showed some current pop, reaching exit velocities up to 97 mph on TrackMan. With his athleticism, defensive ability, and developing offensive tools, Driskell is a must-follow prospect with plenty of upside still ahead.

Warren Jalanivich OF / OF / St Martin High School, MS / 2028

Is an athletic outfielder out of St. Martin High School with a projectable 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and plenty of tools that stand out. He showed off his athleticism with an impressive 6.72-second 60-yard dash, pairing that speed with excellent first-step quickness that should play well both in the outfield and on the bases. Defensively, Jalanivich showed a solid arm from the outfield, reaching 82 mph and demonstrating the ability to make plays all over the grass. At the plate, he put together a strong round of batting practice with a line-drive approach, consistently squaring balls up and producing exit velocities up to 96 mph. The combination of athleticism, speed, arm strength, and offensive upside makes him a very interesting young prospect. Recruiters will want to get out and see this one in game action.

Austin Collins 1B / RHP / Petal, MS / 2028

Is a high-upside RHP/1B out of Petal High School with an imposing 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame and some of the loudest tools in his class. Despite his size, Collins moves exceptionally well, turning in a 7.29-second 60-yard dash and showing athleticism that projects well on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the power potential is undeniable. He produced multiple exit velocities in the high 90s and topped out at 100.3 mph on TrackMan during batting practice, with several balls leaving the yard and showcasing the kind of raw power that is difficult to find at his age. Defensively, he possesses a strong arm and projects as a highly sought-after prospect on the mound as his development continues. The combination of size, athleticism, arm strength, and power gives Collins enormous upside, and he’s undoubtedly one of the more exciting young players to monitor moving forward. Can't wait to see more of him as he continues to develop.

Wyatt Carter RHP / 1B / St. Stanislaus, MS / 2028

Is a physically imposing right-hander out of St. Stanislaus High School with a massive 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame and the look of a future power arm. Carter worked his fastball up to 85.3 mph, showing heavy arm-side run that made the pitch difficult to square up. The size, strength, and leverage in his delivery suggest there is still plenty more velocity coming as he continues to mature. He also showed encouraging feel for both a curveball and changeup, with each secondary offering displaying good shape and the ability to become legitimate weapons moving forward. For a player his age, the combination of present velocity, physicality, and developing secondary stuff is extremely impressive. The upside is significant, and Carter looks every bit like a power arm in the 2028 class that recruiters will want to keep a close eye on.

Jace Conerly SS / RHP / Poplarville, MS / 2031

Jace Conerly (2031) of Poplarville High School was one of the youngest players in attendance, but he more than held his own throughout the event. The rising eighth grader possesses a strong 5-foot-7, 160-pound frame and showed a mature skill set well beyond his age. At the plate, Conerly put together a solid batting practice round, working primarily from the middle of the field to the pull side with a line-drive approach and occasional loft. He consistently found the barrel and produced exit velocities up to 85 mph, an impressive mark for a player in the 2031 class. Defensively, he moved well on the infield, showing a solid glove, good body control, and accuracy on his throws. On the mound, Conerly was equally impressive, running his fastball up to 77 mph while already demonstrating feel for three quality pitches. The combination of strength, athleticism, and advanced feel for the game makes him a very exciting young prospect. We look forward to following his development over the next several years.
