Coach: We have elite pitching, with lots of swing and miss. Very good athletes on defense and an offensive lineup with depth, power and guys that can apply pressure.

Coach: We were excited to play well and take the next step in the tournament.

Coach: We are excited for the next opportunity to compete.

Coach: Central Ohio is full of great teams with great players. We are looking forward to the opportunity to play great baseball.

Newark

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I love the way our team plays the game together and competes every pitch.  

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Words can’t describe what it felt like to win a district for the first time in 18 years. The kids worked hard and deserved it.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It’s a great feeling to be able to play in the regionals. Getting to spend more time preparing and being together as a team has been awesome.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Being in the region with liberty orange and Olentangy is a great accomplishment these are top of the line programs with a history of winning. It’s special to be here and compete with these great programs. We are probably an underdog here but are excited to go compete and see what happens. It’s a one game tournament and anything can happen.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: This team is playing its best baseball late. We started 3-4 and were tested with a tough out of two slate to start our season. However, the multi-sport athletes on this team that have been through the fight in other arenas have helped keep this team together and get us to a point where we're connected and trending in the right direction at the right time. People loosely throw around the term "connected," but I'd challenge people to come watch this group train...CONNECTED!

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: This is the fourth one in a row and Senior Zane Konczak got to experience all four. However, for many, this is their second or third. But, the opportunity to play when school is no longer in sessions means that you've extended the experience. And, for us, that was always the goal...create experiences that help callus your mind such that you grow and put yourself in a position to make a run in the tournament. This group has elevated the program by showing a model for consistency and how that breeds winning culture. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: The opportunity is just that...an opportunity. This community and this program have given our players a great opportunity to experience so much that this game offers. Playing at Beaver's Field in front of our supporters is going to be awesome and we're excited to compere.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Olentangy Liberty is arguably the most talented team in the state. They'll be a great challenge for the other three teams. Newark is tough, talented and plays so hard. Olentangy is the reigning champs and they won't flinch. Their kids are as confident and as tough as they come. We're going to have our hands full in game one. Based on media outlets and "fans" we'll have to play our very best. Our guys know it is a one game season vs an uberly talented Olentangy team and then we'll reassess IF we're LUCKY enough to find a way to win the first one. 

PBR: Anything else you would like to add, feel free to send it. Remember, this is for your players, your coaching staff and your community.
Coach: We have the greatest supporters around. Fans are up and down with results, but our supporters have been with us every step of the way. A huge thank you to Madison Twyford, Jonah Scheckelhoff, and Cameron Graham for all the "behind the scenes" support that they provide. The Pioneer Pit...Ubuntu - we are us because you are you. And to our parents and alumni...THANK YOU. You've  bought into what we do and the crazy, but calculated ways that we do it. PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are where we were in game #1 in Myrtle Beach. Balanced, confident, healthy. We have grown so much during this 3-month journey. We lost 12 guys from our state team, 1 more from graduating early, 3 arms shut down before the season started, but we have a core group of seniors that have provided tremendous leadership and played at their full potential. Our underclassmen have all gained a ton of experience throughout the season and continue to get better. We battled injures the last week of April going into the first two weeks of May. We have everyone back healthy and love how we are playing the game right now. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Proud! Nobody thought we would be here with losing so many guys from the prior year and returning guys that didn't have much varsity game day experience. These guys have heart, compete at a high level, and love Olentangy Baseball. They play with a tremendous amount of pride and love for The O. It's been an awesome journey and I love them all!

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We have a great amount of respect for the other three teams in our region. We know how hard this is to get here, and we appreciate the opportunity. We have played elite level teams all year long, so we are battle tested and ready for the challenge.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Elite level players and coaches. All have great culture and live the standard each and every day. Any of us could advance and win the state title. We proved that last year. It's about game day execution at this point of the season. We will all play hard and together as a team. That's what makes this experience really cool and special for everyone involved. 

PBR: Anything else you would like to add, feel free to send it. Remember, this is for your players, your coaching staff and your community.
Coach: Extremely proud of our kids, coaching staff, families, and community members that support Olentangy Baseball. We are blessed with high level players in our district. They are even better people! The bond our staff has with the players in our program is special and talent we have at all grade levels is impressive. Excited for this current experience in the regionals, and excited for the future because we return most of the roster. I am blessed to be the leader of this great program.

Region 3

• Grove City vs Archbishop Moeller
• Centerville vs Pickerington North

Region Overview: Grove City cruised to a five-inning 11-1 victory over Westland to return to regionals for the 16th time after edging Hilliard Bradley 3-1 in the district semifinals behind a five-hitter from Dylan Farley, his fourth complete game of the season. Landon Hinkle and Carson Stickley had two hits apiece for Grove City, which has won regionals four times. … Moeller shut out Middletown 12-0 and then topped Little Miami 5-2 to advance to regionals for the fifth year in a row and 24th overall. Reggie Watson had two singles and three RBIs in the district finals after hitting a triple and driving in two in the semis. Nathan McDowell threw a no-hitter against Middletown for the nine-time state champions, striking out 13 in five innings, while Connor Maupin hit a single, double and drove in two. Connor Cuozzo now has 102 career RBIs, reaking the previous mark of 88 set 21 years ago. … Centerville rolled over Wayne 20-3, then outlasted Lakota East 5-2. Joey Kristbaum hit a home run and single and Lucas Clark had a single, double and two runs scored. Bronson Weng went all the way, giving up six hits. This is the first district title for Centerville since 2018. … Jackson Turnbull hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to give Pickerington North a 6-4 district semifinal victory over Hilliard Davidson and North used a four-run first en route to a 6-2 win over Thomas Worthington for its first district title since 2016 and fifth ever. Brent Parsons went 4-for-4 while Keegan Reuscher gave up one earned run in six innings.

Coach: It’s a memorable and fun experience to play in a regional. Our team is excited for this opportunity

Coach: This division has 4 great teams. We are excited for 2 great days of baseball at Wright State.

Coach: I’m super proud of this team. We’ve faced some adversity during the year and we’ve responded. This has been an incredible first year as a head coach.

Coach: We are happy to advance to the regionals and to be in the field with three other top teams from SW and C Ohio. It’s going to be a great two days of baseball and we are going to need to play well.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: The ability to score in different ways. Barrels, Bunts, and Bags is our Identity and will not shy away from trying to score in multiple ways. When that combines with our Pitching and Defense playing at their capability we can play a clean game. I love how our guys feed off of each guy and our lineup 1-9 and our bench buys into our system. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Joy. Coaches don't allow themselves to feel that much but it was just Joy. I snuck off down the line to make sure to see them dogpile. It was a special moment because this Team was worthy of dogpiling. A very cool experience to be involved with.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Once again Joy. We have more time together. It is hard to get to this point and incredibly excited to be in the Sweet 16. A great group of teams and excited to attempt to play our Best Game Last.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Pick North is a very impressive team in the limted times we have seen them. Being from Columbus we do not have as much exposure to them but they have some really high end players and play the game hard. Their arms and defense give them a shot every time on the field and some guys throughout the lineup that can win the game by themselves. A really challenging game. Grove City is very simlar. We played earlier and they were dealing with an unexpected injury so were able to get them but Robbie has done a good job with them getting them ready. Replacing Ryan was a tall task and feel they can play at an incredibly high level as well. Moeller is another great team as well and very well coached. They beat us a few weeks back and have high end talent at every position. A typical Moeller team in every way with a ton of talent and fundamentally sound.

Coach: We are proud to represent our city, district, and school. More than anything we are proud to represent our program. Our guys work hard. They believe in our system. They believe in themselves and teammates. Our players, parents, and program deserve this opportunity. I am excited they get to experience it.

Coach: We love our team chemistry right now. They have really started to play together as a team in the past few weeks. Bats are hot and we hope to ride that momentum into Regionals.

Coach: It was one of the best feelings we have had in a long time. It has been 10 years and it felt like forever for us as coaches. Also, we have 6 seniors in our lineup that have been working their way for that moment. It was so cool to just sit back and watch the excitement from the parents and players as they were celebrating with each other on the field with hugs and pictures 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Our goal was to win a District Title and everything else is just icing on the cake. Our region is stacked with Great teams and we are so excited to go compete against the best Ohio has to offer

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Stacked!! Centerville and Moeller have been 2 of the very best teams all year and Grove City is in our conference, so we know all about how good they are as well

Region 4 - Oxford

• St. Xavier vs Elder
• Mason vs Oak Hills 

Region Overview: St. Xavier has won 16 out of its last 17 after beating Walnut Hills 5-2 and Lakota West 8-3 in districts. Winning pitcher Jack Ryan had two singles and a double to lead a 12-hit attack against Lakota West after the Bombers won the semifinals with just three hits. ... Caleb McComas tossed a four-hit shutout to lead Elder past Beavercreek 2-0 and with it the 31st regional berth in school history. Jack Rosenacker was 3-for-3 and scored both runs. Elder, which starts seven seniors, broke a 4-4 tie with four in the sixth and defeated Hamilton 9-4 in the semis. Mason Chubley had a single, double and triple for the Panthers, which will take on a St. Xavier team that they have beaten two of three games this season. Elder has won the most games in Ohio history and third most nationally. … Ben Hanley threw a four-hit shutout with 12 Ks in a 5-0 win over Fairfield after Ollie Stuart and Asher Visconti combined to no-hit Western Hills in an 11-0 drubbing for Mason, which beat Oak Hills 9-2 and 3-2 during the regular season. This will be the sixth-consecutive trip to regionals for Mason and 17th overall. … Ryan Murphy fanned 11 for Oak Hills in a three-hit district final blanking of Springboro, last year’s D-I state runners-up. Oak Hills, which lost to Mason 7-0 in the regional semis in 2025, rallied for one run in the bottom of the seventh on a Wil Kraus home run (breaking the school career hits record), then walked off Springfield 5-4 in the last of the eighth on a Kellen Gantzer single and two errors. Kraus had two bombs and three runs scored.

#3 St. Xavier

Coach: Joyful. And, a clear understanding, we still have room to improve and there is work to be done.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We have worked diligently to reach the regional games, and beyond. Playing in the regional tournament signifies a standard of excellence we expect of ourselves and our program.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Each of the other three programs have had great seasons to get to this point. We have the utmost respect for Oak Hills, Mason and our GCL brothers, Elder. All four teams are highly competitive with quality players & coaches. All four compete in two of the best conferences in the state of Ohio.

Coach: We are honored to represent our St. Xavier, Jesuit community. Our family culture and commitment to mind, body & spirit provide the foundation for our success. Coach: It was obviously a great feeling winning the District title and grateful that they got to continue their journey.  

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It's just an awesome feeling to have the opportunity to play in the regionals!  These guys have worked their tails off and continue to improve as the season has progressed, and that's what you want this time of year. My assistant coaches do such an outstanding job of preparing these guys and I'm truly thankful for all their dedication and hard work. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Our regional opponents present a tremendous challenge. So much respect for St. Xavier, Mason, and Oak Hills.  Very talented and well-coached teams. It should be a fun wide open regional.

#18 Mason

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: The guys are battle tested. We played a tremendous non league schedule this year and the gauntlet that is the GMC is a grind every season. Our guys have "scars" at this point in the year, but it journey has developed resiliency.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Always proud of the players and coaches for achieving one of the on field goals of the season. It is never easy, and I told the boys after the game to never take it for granted. Winning a 6th straight District title is an amazing program accomplishment that this team and many before them should be proud of.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Only 16 remain. It's an honor and a privilege to still be playing this week. The guys are super excited for the chance to compete together.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?

Region Overview: Shaker Heights defeated North Royalton 6-2 and Normandy 5-3 for the school's first district title since 2011. Kenyon commit Casey Robinson was the winning pitcher and hit a pair of singles and drove in two versus North Royalton. Leo Pevnick had a single and double in each tournament game for Shaker Heights, which won state championship's in 1965 and 1976. … The season nearly came to an end in the district finals for Lakewood, the lone unbeaten team in Ohio, which scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally from a 3-0 deficit against Wadsworth. Drew Jones capped off the frame with a three-run bomb in the 8-3 win for Lakewood, which will be at regionals for the second time since 1992. Riley Verderber threw four one-hit shutout innings of relief for the win and Finn Schroeder went 3-3 for the Rangers, which blew out Rhodes 20-0 in the district semis with Jones going 4-4 with three RBIs and Robby Koopman 3-4 with three runs. Lakewood lost to Walsh Jesuit 7-0 in the regional finals a year ago. … Medina Highland skunked Massillon Washington 9-0 following an 8-1 victory over Massillon Perry. Reid Oney tossed a three-hit shutout and Dan Miller did not permit an earned run in a four-hit outing. Colton Winston was 3-4 with four runs scored in the two games and Grady Gibb 4-8 with four RBIs. … Walsh Jesuit avenged a 3-2 regular-season defeat to Mayfield with a 7-3 district final win. Shawn Sullivan had 10 Ks in 5.1 innings while Matthew Mansbery hit a single and two triples and Sean McHugh three singles. Anthony D’Angelo threw a five-inning no-hitter in the semifinal 20-0 win over Euclid with 13 strikeouts. Colin Locigno drove in four and scored three runs, Mansbery had a single and double with three runs and Rylan Batley hit a homer.

Region Overview: North Canton Hoover will be at regionals for the fourth time in five years after beating Green for the third time this season, winning 3-2 in eight innings on a walk-off error. Nolan Pellegrino and Preston Lee gave up five hits in a 3-0 shutout of Valley Forge in the semifinals. Bryce Gerstenslager, who had a triple against Green, hit a single and triple with two RBIs against Valley Forge. Jack Andes, the Federal League POY, has 120 career stolen bases to stand 13th all-time in the OHSAA. The 41 steals from the Bowling Green commit are two from tying his school record set last season, while Andes has 10 career triples and 15 career saves. Andes and Jack Ziarka have four home runs apiece. The team has set records for stolent bases (126) and home runs in the BBCOR era (11). … Hudson beat Nordonia 8-2 for the second time this season, scoring all eight runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to six walks, a HBP and a three-run double by Brex Stacey. Four pitchers combined to not allow an earned run in a 2-1 win over Austintown Fitch in the semis. Chase Dennison closed out both tourney games. … Amherst Steele did not surrender a run in the districts, pounding Max Hayes 20-0 behind a two-hit, 13-K performance from Jeremy Stepp, and then knocked off Monroe-Falls 7-0 with Cael Charles fanning 11 and giving up just two hits. Cole Marquez had a single and double in each game and Cooper Bingham drove in six with two singles against Hayes and a three-run bomb in the finals. Landon Wolf holds the career RBI record with 100. … Broadview Heights beat Twinsburg for the third time in 10 days with Wade Bender producing four RBIs in a 7-4 victory. A four-run fifth gave Heights a 5-3 win over Avon in the semifinals. Bender scored twice and Kaden Kindl had a homer.

Coach: Really proud of how our guys play each game for each other. They trust in each other to get the job done no matter who it is. The moment is not too big, we have big game experience, they play composed and will fight to the end.

Coach:  A sense of accomplishment and a goal knocked off the list, yet a sense of we are not finished yet. We really enjoy playing together and want to see how far we can take this journey.

Coach: Gratitude in being one of 16 teams left to play for the BIG PRIZE! Being here 4 out of the past 5 years our guys are ready to take that next step, looking forward to seeing if this could be the year of getting out of the Regional for the first time since 1999.

Coach: What a great year for D2 baseball in Ohio. All 4 teams have had tremendous seasons and we have nothing but respect for them. All are capable being there at the end.

Region Overview: Landon Echelberry threw a one-hit shutout with eight Ks in Clay’s 1-0 district semifinal win over St. John’s Jesuit and Bryce Besgrove tossed a no-hitter to defeat St. Francis de Sales 1-0 in the finals. Echelberry drove in the lone run in the semis with Aiden Berryman hitting two singles and driving in the only run against St. Francis. Besgrove, who is 8-0 with a 0.67 ERA on the season, had a one-hit shutout with 13 Ks in a 10-0 victory over Lima Senior in the sectionals for Clay, which beat Hudson 2-1 in the regional semis a year ago before falling to Amherst Steele 7-4 in the regional finals. … Big Walnut scored a run in the last of the sixth and seventh to beat Westerville Central 4-3, winning on a walk-off base on balls to advance to regionals for the second year in a row. Jack Rigg tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 9-0 semifinal win over Whetstone. Eli Helton was 3-3 with four RBIs and Nolan Buirley 2-2 with three runs for Big Walnut, which was shut out by New Albany 6-0 in the 2025 regional finals. … Bryson Gittins threw four no-hit innings and Mason Ackermann went 2-2 with six RBIs in leading New Albany by Licking Valley 11-0 in the district title game. The Eagles, which have given up just one hit in each tournament game, pounded Walnut Ridge 22-0 in the semis. It marks the second year in a row New Albany, a state participant last season, entered regionals without giving up a run. … Chase Crawford pitched a four-hitter to lead Westerville South past Teays Valley 3-1 after the Wildcats rolled by St. Charles 8-2 in the district semis. Theo Montemarano and Connor Owdom have three hits apiece in the tournament for South, which lost to Big Walnut in last year’s district final. This is the second trip to regionals for Westerville South.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Our pitching and defense have been really great for the majority of the year.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning back-to-back district titles is a tremendous accomplishment in any year. But when you step back and consider that this year’s Northwest D2 District featured five of the top 16 teams in the state, it really puts into perspective how significant repeating as district champions was.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Making it to the sweet 16 is a huge achievement. I know last years’ experience will be a benefit to this year’s group.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: New Albany, Sunbury Big Walnut, and Westerville South are all excellent programs playing their best baseball at the right time of year. For us to keep advancing, we need to continue pitching well and playing strong defense, while also coming up with more timely hitting.

Coach: I’m proud of how our team has embraced a team-first mentality. We’re playing outstanding team baseball – making the routine and big plays defensively, getting strong pitching performances, and delivering timely hits when they matter most.

Coach: One of our goals from day one was DPAD – Dog Pile at Districts. Our players have worked tirelessly all season to turn that goal into a reality. When we recorded the final out, seeing the pure joy and excitement on their faces was an unforgettable moment and one of the most rewarding feelings as a coach. This district championship is only the second in school history, making the accomplishment even more special for our players, program and community. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Now that we’ve accomplished one of our goals – DPAD – we’re excited for the opportunity to compete in the regional tournament against some outstanding competition. We’ll face a very talented New Albany team on Wednesday, and our players are looking forward to the challenge. It’s a special opportunity, and we’re eager to see what this group can accomplish. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: New Albany entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Central District and is ranked No. 6 in Division II statewide. Big Walnut, a fellow league opponent, was the No. 3 seed in the district and is ranked No. 11 in Division II statewide, while Oregon Clay is ranked No. 7 in Division II. The opportunity to compete against multiple state-ranked programs makes this an exciting and valuable experience for our players.

Region 8

• Harrison vs Loveland
• Worthington Kilbourne vs Anderson

Region Overview: Harrison pushed across three runs in the top of the 10th to stun Edgewood 7-4 in the district finals, advancing to regbionals for the initial time since 2009. Drew Baker had a two-out RBI single and David Baldock added a two-run double. Preston Flick threw six shutout innings in relief and Baldock came in for four scoreless frames to pick up the win. After Northmont scored seven in the bottom of the sixth to tie up the game, Harrison tallied seven in the top of the seventh and went on to a 14-10 semifinal victory. Ryan Stigler drove in six with two singles and a double and Kyle Davidson was 3-4 with three runs. Stigler has a 429/556/571 slash in the tournament with a 1.127 OPS. Eleven different players have scored in the tournament for Harrison. … Loveland made it three wins this season over Kings, winning 6-0 behind a two-hit, 13-K performance from Drew Oerther, sending the Tigers back to the Sweet 16 where they lost 4-3 in the regional finals a year ago to eventual state champion Anthony Wayne, the furthest Loveland has ever gone in the tournament. Brady Stidham, who has surpassed 100 career hits, was 3-3 against Kings. Brody Miller and Rylan Litchfield combined on a one-hit shutout of Miamisburg in a 13-0 semifinal win. Litchfield and Oerther each had three RBIs. This is the first back-to-back trips to regionals for Loveland since 1999-2000. … Hawthorne Kitay hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh to rally Kilbourne past Mount Vernon 4-3 in the district semis and the Wolves went on to defeat Dublin Scioto 5-2 for its first regional berth in 20 years. Grant Todd has four hits in the tournament for Kilbourne, which has seven senior starters but the top five pitchers are all underclassmen. … Hudson Best scored on an error in the top of the ninth to give Anderson a 1-0 win over Troy in the district finals. Brennan Trowbridge and Collin Evans teamed up on a two-hit shutout for Anderson, which needed nine innings in the semifinals to nip Fairborn 2-1. Brayden Moore had two hits, including the game-winning RBI single.

Coach: We are playing with a certain energy right now. We believe in what we're doing and the guy standing next to us. We are gelling at the perfect time.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It's awesome. Its what we've talked about since September. As a team without a conference, we were only hanging a banner for a district title, and beyond. We've worked hard to accomplish that goal.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Nothing beats June baseball for a high school program. This is something that very few guys get to expierience, we're loving every minute of this.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We saw a couple of these teams in the regular season and we knew that if we wanted to accomplish our goals, we'd be seeing them again here. They're good ball teams. It's going to come down to who can play the cleanest game.

Coach: We are playing good team baseball right now and we have been executing at the plate 1-9 in the first 2 tournament games. We are competing on the mound and making the routine plays defensively, helping to avoid the big innings.

Coach: Our team was extremely excited to win another district championship. It was one of our goals this off-season and the team was very proud that they were able to accomplish that goal. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It is always exciting getting to play in regionals. The atmosphere is always great, and it provides incredible memories for the players and their families.

Coach: All 4 are deserving of being here and are all capable of winning a state title. We are very familiar with Anderson, who is in our conference, and Harrison who we played in the regualr season, as well as in the tournament last year.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I like how we are competing right now. We have battled through numerous injuries over the course of the season and we have continued to try to be the "best version of us" each day. Our training sessions have been great with plenty of positive energy.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It was an awesome experience for our players and Worthington Kilbourne. It was no secret to our players that our program was in a District Championship drought since 2006, so emotions were high heading into the game. In addition, we played our OCC Conference Rival (Dublin Scioto) for a 3rd time after 2 close regular-season games. I have a ton of respect for Coach Longbrake and how Dublin Scioto plays, so we knew they were going to be on their "A" game. It was a great baseball game and we made some fantastic plays at the end. The final out was surreal and watching our guys celebrate is something this staff will remember forever. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We are very excited for the opportunity. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Due to the bracket setup, we do not have much information on our opponents other than records and word-of-mouth. We know that all the teams in our Regional come from competitive conferences and we expect to see some great baseball.

Region Overview: Three unearned runs in the top of the 10th lifted CVCA past Uniontown Lake 7-4. Peyton Drabick had four hits for CVCA, which won its two previous tourney games by a combined 29-0. Jacob Lancey had three RBIs versus Youngstown East and Drabick four against Northwest. This marks the third straight season CVCA has made it to regionals. … Chardon scored four in the top of the ninth, keyed by an RBI double from Tim Robertson, and held off Aurora 6-3 for district championship number seven. Robertson gave up one earned run in 6.1 innings of a 5-2 victory over Wooster in the district semis, while Adam Gable had three hits. Chardon won the D-II state crown in 2022. … Hoban has scored 38 runs in three tournament games, including a 9-5 win over Westlake in the district finals. Zach Karhoff had two singles, a triple and three RBIs for Hoban, which is two wins away from the school record of 25 wins. Hoban has two college commits that are out for the rest of the year, Manny Camacho (Kent State) and Dashel Hemlick (Akron). …  William Tober threw a one-hit shutout in the sectional finals and Aidan Reynolds a seven-hit shutout in the district finals for SVSM, which edged Revere 5-3 in the district semis with Tober throwing a complete game. SVSM had not made it to regionals since 2016 until last season.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: They have a lot of fight. They don't quit, even when down, we keep battling. Great group to coach, love these guys!

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It was a great feeling winning our third straight district Title. Not many teams can 3peat, and we have been blessed to win it again this year. Our kids are battle tested and ready for whatever challenge is put in front of them. We knew Uniontown Lake was going to be a huge task. They are a very good/well coached team with a great lineup top to bottom. Our kids never quit. What a game! 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We are super thrilled to be back in the Regionals again this year in a very loaded D3 field. Getting to spend more time with this group of young men is truly special. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: This region is loaded with talent. Hoban and St. V are two of the top teams in the area. Chardon is a great team that is gritty and does the little things to win them ball games. We will have to play our best baseball to compete with these teams.

Coach: Super proud of our group we have this year. Just a bunch of guys who love the game of baseball, but more importantly love playing for Jesus! Our kids play the game the right way. This is a testament to the way they are being brought up by their parents and the CVCA community as a whole. We are super blessed to be a part of a community that supports our guys. Looking forward to a great Regional here in NE Ohio!

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: The team has started to settle into positions and roles that help us play our best.  They are focused.  They are a group of players that like being around one another.  

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach:  Well, it was an incredible feeling for the team, especially after such an exciting game with a quality program like Aurora.  The fans got their money’s worth for whatever they paid for their tickets.  We were up 2-0, and then they tied it with a 2 run HR.  ….then going into extra innings.  The way our pitchers and defense worked out of that jam in the bottom of the 8th was incredible.  It ultimately allowed us to open it up a bit with 4 runs in the top of the 9th to get the win.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: You never take June high  school baseball for granted.  It’s a special time of year.  We narrow down the focus and look at 1 game at a time because anything can happen now.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Well, people always ask ‘Who’s next?’  ‘Are they good?’.   At this point anybody you are going to face is going to be really good, and they are going to have special players.  Right now we are only thinking about CVCA.  They are a quality program with some very talented players. Last year we dropped a tight one to St. V 2-1 in the district Semi.  ….so we saw first-hand the quality of that program.  Akron Hoban- They earned the seed they did heading into the post-season for good reason.  They are no stranger to playing deep into June.  In fact, they were the team that we faced at Canal Park when we won the D2 state title in 2022, and they continue to be a high-quality program. ... so these programs are well-coached with strong players.  That is what makes the game of baseball so special, especially at this time of year.   This is an extremely talented region in Ohio!

Coach:   One of the best things about getting into regionals is to see how it begins to get the community excited and talking about high school baseball.  We are fortunate to come from a town that supports its student-athletes so well.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: This may not be the most talented team we’ve had at Hoban, but it is one of the most unselfish and toughest groups we’ve coached. They are a true team. They play with tremendous energy effort and grit, genuinely enjoy competing together, and have developed outstanding chemistry throughout the season. We’re pitching the ball well, playing exceptional defense, and finding multiple ways to score runs. We’ve won 12 straight games and 14 of our last 15. Our senior leaders—Ben Rovnak and Zach Karhoff—along with junior catcher Colt Andrews, have done an outstanding job leading this group.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts.
Coach: It was an incredible feeling watching our players celebrate with one another. Not only had we lost in the district final the previous two seasons, but this year has presented numerous challenges. We entered the season with three key middle-of-the-order hitters and a Division I recruit pitcher sidelined due to injury. Our left-handed starter, Zak Zellers, missed the first two-thirds of the season, and our ace, Manny Camacho, is unable to pitch in the postseason. On Opening Day, seven of our nine starters had never started a varsity high school game. As the season progressed, this team became tougher and more resilient. Winning a district championship is a testament to the character, perseverance, and commitment of the players in our dugout.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Winning a district championship is always Goal No. 1 at Hoban. However, with the tradition and expectations of our baseball program and athletic department, the ultimate goal is always to compete for a state championship. We’re proud to have accomplished our first goal, but our focus now is on playing well enough to reach the Final Four.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your regional?
Coach: All four teams are outstanding and capable of winning the regional. Having the opportunity to play our rival in a regional matchup should create an incredible atmosphere for everyone involved. Outside of playing for a state championship, I don’t think you could ask for a much better postseason matchup.

PBR: Anything else you’d like to add?
Coach: This is an exceptionally resilient group of young men. Obviously, we want to keep winning and advancing, but selfishly, I’d love to keep coaching and spending time with this team for another two weeks. From a character standpoint and the makeup of the personalities in our dugout, this is one of the most special teams I’ve ever been a part of.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are playing clean defensively behind our strong pitching performances. We are taking a confident approach with a team-first mentality.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning a district championship is a special feeling because it validates all the hard work, commitment, and sacrifices the players and coaches have made throughout the season. Seeing the excitement on the players’ faces, watching them celebrate with their teammates, and knowing they accomplished something together is incredibly rewarding. It’s a moment filled with pride and joy, but our focus quickly turns to what’s next. We’re grateful for the accomplishment, but we know the job isn’t finished. It’s on to the next game and the next opportunity to keep our season going.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: The opportunity to play in the regional tournament is something our players have earned through their hard work and dedication all season. It’s exciting to still be playing baseball this time of year, especially knowing that every team left is competing at a high level. We have a lot of respect for the challenge ahead, but we’re confident in the way we’ve been playing. Our focus remains the same—play great defense, pitch well, compete every pitch, and enjoy the opportunity to represent our school and community.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: The regional tournament is filled with quality teams that have earned the right to be there. At this point in the season, every team is well coached, talented, and capable of making a deep run. We have a great deal of respect for all of the teams in the field.

Region 10

• Defiance vs University School
• Sylvania Southview vs Parma Padua

Region Overview: Defiance rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to beat Bowling Green 8-4 in the district finals. Jaren Honsberger had two singles, a double and three RBIs for the Bulldogs, which knocked off Ashland 8-3 in the semis with Ike Webb fanning seven in a five-hitter. Webb also struck out seven in an 11-1 sectional final victory over Shawnee, with Honsberger producing three hits. … After winning their first two tourney games by a combined 30-0, University School had to rally with two in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh for a 5-4 win over Canfield. Bobby Berglund had the game-winning hit for last year’s Division III state runners-up. Berglund had three RBIs in the district semis and Deacon Nelson drove in four in the sectional title game with two singles and a home run for University School, which will be at regionals for the fourth time in six years under head coach Rob McNerney, who is 137-45. Four is the lucky number for Nelson this year, who is batting .440 with four homers, 42 RBIs, 41 runs and 40 walks, pushing the Auburn commit's career totals to 100-plus in four categories, hits, RBIs, runs and walks. The senior class now has 97 wins. … Lucas Girlie hit a two-out RBI single to score Adam LePla in the bottom of the ninth to give Southview a 5-4 district final win over Lexington. LePla scored three runs, the same number as in the 16-0 sectional final blowout of Rogers, and also touched home once in a 4-3 win over Central Catholic in the district semis. … Padua has not been scored on, beating Cleveland JFK 19-0, Copley 10-0 and Alliance 5-0. Chase Bart and Brandon Tillman did not allow a hit in the JFK game, Chase Martin surrendered one versus Copley and Jack Degetter had a five-hitter against Alliance. Leadoff hitter Bryden Spellacy is 5-7 with six runs and five RBIs in the tournament for Padua, which fell to University School 8-5 in eight innings in last year’s regional semifinals.

Coach: I was happy for the boys and especially our seniors. They have had 2 goals all year. Operation 30: win the 30th league title in baseball and make it to Regionals.

Coach: It's a great honor to make it to Regionals. It's been a couple of years since we made it this far, so we are excited to be back.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I feel good about our experience and maturity. We are an older team that has been tested. Making it to Akron last year has been both a great learning tool about what it takes, but also a motivation to get back and feel that again. Our seniors lead by example and set the tone every day.  

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It is always special to be District Champs, but doing it in a walk-off fashion was really cool. Canfield is an incredible team and they had an outstanding year. That was a fun back-and-forth game. After the last few years, our guys know that it is now the standard. So, for us, it is just another step along the way.  

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Making it to the sweet 16 is extremely hard, and we are excited to head west. Potentially seeing some new teams, but also the possibility of a familiar foe, makes this an incredible challenge. I think our guys are ready.  

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Defiance has an incredible program and history. We are excited to see them for the first time. On the other side, we know Southview and Padua are both excellent teams and well coached, otherwise they would not be here. We are taking it one game at a time and feel very fortunate to still be standing.

Coach: The turnaround of the U.S. baseball program takes another step with our 4th district title in 5 years. It would not be possible without the amazing work by our players, assistant coaches and the support from our families.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are playing clean defensively and limiting free bases. I also think we are running the bases well. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Extremely rewarding. It was a roller coaster of emotions. We got a big hit in the sixth inning to extend the lead and felt like we had some breathing room, only to watch Lexington battle back and tie the game in the seventh. Then, to see Lucas Girlie deliver the walk-off hit in the ninth and watch our players storm the field was an incredible moment.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?  
Coach: I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to compete in a regional tournament. Early in my coaching career, I was fortunate to be on the staff at Start High School in the early and mid-2000s under Rich Arbinger, where we were able to make several regional appearances and even play in a state championship game. Those experiences helped shape me as a coach and gave me an appreciation for how difficult it is to reach this point.To now have the opportunity to experience it as a head coach is very rewarding, especially after coming close a few times over the years. More than anything, I'm happy for our players, particularly our seniors.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: First word that comes to mind is respect. I am familiar with Defiance, as we are both in the northwest Ohio area. Coach Weaver has picked up right where Coach Held left off, as they continue to be one of the best programs in the state. While I do not know a lot about Parma Padua or University School, you guys cover them a ton throughout the spring, and I see their players on your boards in both spring and travel coverage. They are both well respected, well coached programs. 

PBR: Anything else you would like to add, feel free to send it. Remember, this is for your players, your coaching staff and your community. 
Coach: College commits: Jacob Huss, Senior, IF - Owens Community College; Will Colyer, Senior, RHP - Terra State; Adam LePla, Senior, IF - playng college football at Bluffton. We have stolen 111 bases as a team this season. As we prepare for the regional tournament, I can't help but reflect on how special the run has been. The NLL is one of the toughest baseball leagues in the state, and every year it seems like a team from our league makes a deep postseason run. This season alone, three NLL programs captured district championships, which speaks volumes about the level of competition our players face every day. Personally, I'm grateful for the opportunity to coach this group, especially our seniors.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are playing some good baseball right now, especially on the defensive end. Also our pitching has been great to this point and has been all season long. This is a very tight group and we are playing great team baseball right now. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Always great to win a district title. It is a great accomplishment. Very proud of the team to accomplish that goal that we set out to reach back in the fall

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It is great to be back in a regional, we have worked hard to get to this point. We have played well to get here but we know there is more baseball to be played and the stakes are higher. We are ready to compete. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We have nothing but the utmost respect for the other teams in the regional. They are all extremely good teams that are well coached and have a history of success. They have all earned their way here. It should make for a very fun regional with some great baseball coming up this week.

Coach: We are very excited to be back in the regional tournament. The support throughout the season and postseason has been phenomenal from the Padua community. This team has worked extremely hard to get to this point after a long season and earned their way here and we are ready for some more baseball ahead.

Region 11

• Bishop Watterson vs Warren
• London vs New Philadelphia

Region Overview: Ben Burleson threw a six-hitter to send Watterson back to regionals for the 17th time with a 6-1 victory over Bloom Carroll. Michael Mulligan and Luke Fivecoat have four hits apiece in the tournament for the Eagles, which broke a 3-3 tie with a four-run sixth to beat Bexley 7-3 in the district semis. Watterson, which starts seven seniors, has won 21 of its last 22 games. … Seventh-seeded Warren is off to regionals after three tournament wins over Miami Trace (6-1), Hillsboro (5-2) and Plains Athens (5-0). Carter Strong went the distance in the first two games while Tate Jonas threw a two-hit shutout with nine Ks in the district finals. Aidan Lipscomb and Saben Jonas have six hits apiece in tourney play for the 16-14 Warriors. … Pitching has led London to the regionals capped off by a 2-1 10-inning win over Bishop Hartley. Braxton Brown had the game-winning hit in the top of the 10th for London, with Braden Collins going 9.2 innings with 10 Ks for the victory. London beat Hamilton Township 2-0 and Columbus St. Francis 2-1 in the first two tourney games with Colin Nickel throwing a one-hitter and five-hitter, respectively. … A Jack Range two-run single with one away in the last of the seventh gave New Philadelphia a 3-2 win over Tri-Valley in the district finals. Brady Evans and Tanner Ulmer both hit home runs in a 7-2 semifinal victory against Zanesville.

Coach: We've got a veteran team this year. They've played a lot of baseball together and are a tight knit group. We have a versitile group and have found different ways to win this season.

Coach: Very happy for our players, coaching staff, parents and school community. It is a special feeling that our guys will remember for a long time.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It is always exciting to be able to play for your school in June. We are excited to be back in Chillicothe at the VA Memorial Stadium.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?

Region Overview: Julien Daniels threw 5.1 innings of no-hit ball helping Kenton Ridge to an 8-0 district final win over Bellbrook. Mason Amato closed it out, giving up one hit in 1.2 frames. River Leach did not allow an earned run in five three-hit frames and Cyrus Worley earned the save with two no-hit innings in a 3-1 district semifinal victory over Tecumseh. … Koby Dues and Jackson Schilling combined on a five-hitter in pitching Butler past LaSalle 8-1, the second year in a row the Aviators beat LaSalle in the district finals. Mason Woods was 4-4, Dues 3-4 and Aidan White 3-5. Tate Richardson threw 5.2 shutout innings in an 8-0 semifinal victory over Greenville with Jack Egbert driving in four runs. Dues has set the school mark for runs and stolen bases in a season while Schilling has set the record for RBIs and tied the mark for doubles. Both are Ohio State commits. This is the 13th trip to regionals for Butler, winning it all once in 2000. ... Badin has dominated in the tournament, winning run-rule games with Mt Healthy 18-0, Talawanda 10-0 and Chaminade-Julienne 12-1. Badin pitchers (the top six are all seniors) have given up four total hits in 16 innings, with Caleb Driessen going the distance in the district finals with eight Ks. Chandler Taylor is 5-8 with seven RBIs in the tourney while Colt Emerson has driven in five for Badin, making its 24th regional appearance. …. Tippecanoe, which has beaten Butler twice this season, earned a regional berth for the 10th time in school history with a 3-2 victory over Batavia. Carson Jackson threw a complete game with James Merry and Brad Liskey producing two hits each. Cayden McKinney tossed a two-hit shutout at Bellfontaine with Liskey and Jackson getting two hits and driving in a pair apiece in the 6-0 triumph. Merry scored three runs.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We have played clean baseball throughout the tournament to this point. I like the depth and experience of our lineup- we have a lot of kids who have played a lot of baseball for us. Our pitching has been outstanding all year. Defensively, we are playing as well as we have played all year. The vibes are good and we are enjoying every opportunity we get to continue playing together.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: The energy in the dugout was great all night. It has been a decade since our program made a regional, and we have finished as district runner-up each of the last two years. I believe the experience of the last two years helped us, as our guys were focused, but played free and loose all night. Once Cayden stepped on first for the final out, it was one of the most rewarding feelings I've had in coaching. Not just because we won, but to see a lot of hard work, struggle, and growth over a long period of time pay off for our players and assistant coaches.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: These are the moments you live for as a competitor. The Region 12 field is one of the most competitive regionals I can remember in recent memory. We always want to challenge ourselves against the best, and are excited for the opportunity. Our focus is sticking to our core principles and the things that allow us to be successful. Our team has shown we are capable of great things when we handle what is in our control.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Badin, Butler, and Kenton Ridge are three of the best programs in the state regardless of division. All three have talent all over the roster, have had sustained runs of success, and are extremely well coached. It's great to have the opportunity to compete with them. We will need to continue to play at a high level.

Region Overview: Mooney won a pair of 3-1 games in the districts against Holy Name and Field. Ben Oddis threw a three-hitter versus Holy Name and Ford Stacy a two-hitter against Field. Stacy and Will Petty teamed up for a no-hitter in the sectional 14-1 win over Niles McKinley. Mooney, which has never made it to state, has now won 11 district crowns. Kaden Reese, one of six starting juniors, has set the school record for stolen bases. … Norton, which lost in eight innings to Hubbard in the district finals a year ago, scored five runs in the last of the fifth to rally past Jefferson Area 6-4 to move on to regionals for the second time ever, the other coming in 2005 when the team advanced to state. Caeden DeDomenic, one of two senior starters along with Ronnie Ammons, gave up one earned run in a 6-2 victory over West Branch in the semis. … Luke Spittler went 3-3 with two runs scored leading Canton Central Catholic by Perry 8-4 after Gavin McCune drove in three in a 9-1 triumph over Brookside in the district semis. Spittler had three RBIs in a 6-2 sectional victory over Coventry while McCune went the distance fanning 17. Canton CC has now won 16 district championships. … Izaiah Amarise fanned 11 in a one-hitter and Noah Willet went 4-4 to pace Elyria Catholic past Marlington 8-2. Amarise had a grand slam to cap an 11-1 semifinal victory versus Ursuline. This will be the 11th regional trip for the Panthers.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Simply put, this group competes and never quits. We have been involved in a lot of close games this spring, and our guys have done a tremendous job of staying within themselves in pressure situations. They trust themselves, trust their teammates, and have really learned how to control their breathing and emotions when the game is on the line. Even with such a young team, that composure has been a big part of our success.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Honestly, I was speechless. The way this group has come together throughout the spring has been so special. We graduated 9 Seniors from last year's team and have so many new faces on our varsity roster. To watch these guys step up, grow together, and accomplish something like this has been amazing. I am extremely proud of them.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It's huge for our small community. So many people in Norton have invested in this program and helped us get to this point. The support we have received from community members has been great. Now our focus is simple... keep playing our game, keep trusting one another, and continue playing D.I.R.T.Bag Baseball.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Canton Central, Cardinal Mooney, and Elyria Catholic are all great programs with talented teams and coaching staffs. Each of them has a strong tradition and history of success. I think NEOhio Baseball fans are going to see some great baseball at Thurman this week, and we are excited for the opportunity to compete alongside those teams.

• Marengo Highland vs Lake
• Perkins vs Van Wert

Region Overview: Highland plated two runs in the top of the eighth and held on to knock off top-ranked Jonathan Alder 4-3 for a regional berth. Jayden Collins and Cade Minnick gave up five hits in the win. Caleb Youngman threw a complete game and was 3-3 with three RBIs, while Minnick scored three runs in a 12-2 district semifinal victory over Johnstown. Youngman and Collins threw three scoreless innings apiece in a 7-0 sectional win versus Pleasant. … Lake overcame a  5-3 deficit to nip Bellevue 7-6 to earn a trip to regionals for the 11th time in school history. Mason Csortos and Gavin Hrebic had three hits each for the Flyers, which lost to Napoleon in last year’s district finals. Lake beat O-G 9-6 in the district semis with Hrebic, Gavin Kohlhofer and Jace Ayers pounding out two hits apiece. … Perkins shut out Clyde 8-0 and St. Mary’s 6-0 to move two wins away from a second-straight trip to state. Kash Koch threw a no-hitter at St. Mary’s, while Talon Walton and Josh Cummings teamed up on a two-hitter versus Clyde. Walton was 5-7 with four RBIs and four runs scored in the two wins for the Pirates, which lost to Licking Valley 2-1 in the 2025 state finals. This marks district championship number 11 for a school that has produced five MLB draft picks. … Van Wert finished tied for seventh in the Western Buckeye League at 3-6 but is headed to regionals after beating Bryan 6-4. Griffin McCracken was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Camdyn Werts hit a long ball for the Cougars, which avenged a regular-season loss to Bath with a 6-1 victory in the district semis. Easton Putnam, who went the distance against Bryan, threw two shutout innings in relief to pick up the save with starting pitcher Conner Harris giving up one run on three hits in five frames for the win. Harris is 7-0 with a 1.129 ERA.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I love the toughness and togetherness of this team currently. They love being around each other and the product, as well as the results on the field speak to that. We are a really young group and they are having fun playing the game of baseball together, which as a coach, is something that you love to see.

Coach: There was a lot of happiness, obviously. Anytime you win a district title it is a terrific accomplishment. But, to add a district title to our program's success and history with this group of players and coaches made it really special. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Any opportunity to play and compete in meaningful games in mid- to late-May is something that I have been telling our players that high school baseball is all about. So, we are really excited to be able to keep competing together as a group.

Coach: over the course of the season we elevated our schedule to play higher level competition, especially the final 2 weeks of regular season against several top state ranked teams which we competed at a very high level to prepare ourselves much like last year for a tournament run

Coach: our players have put in a lot of years to get to where we are at. As a team we set several goals with a return to regionals one of those. We were very happy with how we played in the District and this team is hungry for more

Coach: We are excited to return to BGSU for the regionals. We played a regular season game at the Stell in hopes our regional would return to give the boys something to aim for. Anytime you get to play in a regional is special and shouldn't be taken for granted and we are excited to get another shot for Akron

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: To make it to a regional you have to be playing your best baseball. Every team in the regional has won some big games and have earned their way to BGSU. I do feel location wise that the 4 teams are pretty spread out and 4 teams that generally would not see each other in the regular season

Coach: Perkins athletics have been fortunate to have great community support which has helped make several deep tournament runs over the past 2 school years starting with a 2024 state football runner-up, 2024 3rd place wrestling finish at the state tournament, 2025 baseball state runner- up, 2026 basketball final four and multiple track athletes placing at the state tournament. One of the driving factors in the success of the athletics is the work of previous strength coach Sam Wentz and current strength coach Travis Webb who runs a second to none strength program that many D1 college programs do not have. We would like to say Thank you to the school administration and Athletic Director Brad Watson who faces all the challenges of spring sports season in Northern Ohio.

Coach: Our team was 8-11 at one point this season and have won 7 of of our last 8 to get to regionals with 2 of those wins coming against highly ranked teams (Lima Bath #9 DIV and Coldwater #2 DV).

Region 15

• Richmond Edison vs Minerva
• Fairfield Union vs Logan Elm

Region Overview: A four-run sixth gave Edison a regional berth for the first time since 2012 with a 6-3 victory over Indian Valley. Brady Haught threw a complete game and Evan Kimmerle was 3-3 with two RBIs. Edison stunned Philo 6-5 in 11 innings in the district semis, matching the three runs Philo plated in the ninth with three in the bottom of the frame, the last on a bases-loaded walk to Haught. Edison then scored the winning run in the 11th on another bases-loaded free pass to Haught. Bryce Rogers threw six one-hit shutout innings in the sectional finals before Haught came in for the save in a 1-0 win over West Holmes… Minerva is now 14-13 on the season after beating Carrollton 1-0 and Cambridge 8-2 in districts. Lane Tarbet gave up one earned run in the finals for the eighth-seeded Lions while Brayden Wood fired a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts against Carrollton. Brennan Barnes had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth for the game’s only run. … Dylan Chilcote came through with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth leading Fairfield Union past Gallia Academy 2-1 in the district finals. Joe Blankenship and Cameron Silcott combined to limit Gallia to four hits. Elli Wolfe and Silcott pitched the Falcons by Circleville 3-2 in the semis. … Zane Seimer hit a two-out single to plate Brady Neff in the top of the eighth and Logan Elm held on to defeat Wheelersburg 7-6 in the district finals. Neff and Kelton Bennington did not give up an earned run in a 4-1 semifinal victory against Unioto. This is just the third district crown for Logan Elm and first since 2010.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: The best teams are player led and we have a veteran team that believes in each other and the coaching staff. We have played in several close games this year and are 9-2 in 1 run games. We have been able to stay present and not let the moment get too big for us to handle mentally. We feel that our schedule during the season was challenging and it has prepared us for the tournament.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: We were extremely happy for our seniors. They have been hard working, dedicated and coachable players from the 1st day they have entered our program. Anything in life worth anything is earned, not given and our team has earned the right to play in the regional tournament.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We are excited to have earned the opportunity to represent our school and community. Baseball is very important to our community and we are excited for them as well as all of our former players.

Coach: All the Teams in our regional bracket are good and extremely well coached.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: What I really like about this team right now is the confidence we're playing with. We've been outstanding defensively behind our starting pitching, committing only two errors through three playoff games. Offensively, we're putting together quality at-bats, getting some big clutch hits, and doing a great job applying pressure with small ball and aggressive, smart baserunning. On the mound, we've been excellent as well, allowing just two runs through three playoff games. When you're getting that kind of pitching, defense, and timely hitting, it gives you a lot of confidence heading into Regionals

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It was a surreal feeling. Winning the first district championship in school history is something this team earned through years of hard work and perseverance. To come from a 3-19 season two years ago to district champions speaks volumes about the character of these players. Watching them celebrate on the field after the game is a memory our coaches, families, fans, and community will never forget.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It’s an incredible feeling to still be playing baseball at this point in the season. We’re excited for the opportunity to continue competing alongside our teammates and friends who have truly become like family throughout this journey. The bonds we’ve built over the years make every practice, bus ride, and game special, and knowing we get to keep sharing those moments together means a lot. Winning the first district championship in school history was a tremendous accomplishment for our program, our school, and our community. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, but we’re not satisfied with simply making it to regionals. Our team has worked too hard and come too far to be content with just being there. We’re hungry for more. We want to compete, play our best baseball, and continue this run for as long as possible. We know every game will be a challenge, but we’re excited for the opportunity and ready to embrace it. Our focus remains the same as it has all season—play for each other, compete every pitch, and make the most of every moment we have together.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We have a tremendous amount of respect for all three teams in our regional. Edison, Fairfield Union, and Logan Elm have all had outstanding seasons and have built strong programs that know what it takes to win. Each of them has a history of success, and you don't reach this point in the season without being a very talented and well-coached team. Edison has consistently been one of the top programs in the area and has established a winning tradition over the years. Fairfield Union has had an excellent season and has proven they can compete with anyone. Logan Elm has also put together a great year and has shown why they are one of the last teams still playing. At this stage of the tournament, every team is deserving of being here. We know there are no easy games and that every opponent presents a different challenge. We're excited for the opportunity to compete against such quality programs and test ourselves against some of the best teams in the state. Our focus is on preparing the right way, playing our brand of baseball, and making the most of the opportunity we've earned.

Coach: This regional appearance is something that means so much to everyone connected to Minerva Baseball. It's a special moment for our players, coaches, parents, school, and the entire community. Winning the first district championship in school history is an accomplishment that so many people helped make possible, and we're proud to represent everyone who has supported our program along the way. This achievement also belongs to the players and coaches who came before us. There have been many great teams, players, and coaches throughout Minerva Baseball history who helped build this program and set the standard for what it means to wear a Lions uniform. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment laid the foundation that our team is fortunate to build upon today. We are grateful for the path they helped create and hope we are making them proud. What makes this run even more meaningful is that we get to continue competing alongside teammates who have become like family. The memories we've made together and the relationships we've built are something we'll carry with us long after the season ends. Region Overview: Fenwick scored five runs in the top of the seventh to shock Urbana 5-2, giving the Falcons their first 20-win season since 2018. Jackson Kauffman had a one-out two-run double to put the Falcons on top. Carter Shouse, the top-ranked sophomore in the state, fanned 16 and permitted two hits in helping Fenwick reach the regionals for the second year in a row. Anthony Snyder pitched a two-hit shutout in a 10-0 win over Clinton-Massie in the semis. … Defending Division III state champion Licking Valley is headed to the Division IV regionals after blanking Buckeye Valley 3-0 behind a three-hitter from Grayson Snow. Brody Rogers had a single and double for the Panthers, which topped Bishop Ready 9-1 in the semis with Brady Sforza tossing five two-hit innings. Trey McLaughlin smacked a triple and a home run. … Maximus DeFranco had two singles, a triple and three RBIs for Roger Bacon in a 4-1 district final win over Ben Logan. Bacon blanked both Reading and CHCA 11-0 leading up to the district championship game, Kyle Miller throwing a three-hitter in the district semifinals and Miller teaming up with Bryan Yaecker and Collin Schulte for a no-hitter versus Reading. Terrance Todd has driven in eight runs in the three tourney wins. … Reece Reittinger pitched six innings of shutout relief and Bethel scored five runs in the top of the seventh to upset Indian Hill 8-2. Ander Mohler had two singles, a triple and four RBIs for the Bees, which defeated Oakwood 11-3 in the district semis and Springfield Shawnee 10-6 in the sectional finals. Mason Stortenbecker hit two singles and a home run, scoring five times while Troy Hunt drove in five with a double and homer against Oakwood.

Region Overview: Brandon Cash had three hits to lead Lakeview to a 6-3 win over Wooster Triway in the district finals. Jacob Shaker hit a double and triple and drove in two while Eli Gough had a single, double and two RBIs. A four-hitter from Shaker led Lakeview past Garfield 2-0 in the semis. Blake Swinning, Gough, Isaiah Lantz and Colton Elliot all had two hits. … Joe Zuccaro, Stephen Kopkash and Owen McKenzie teamed up to throw a no-hitter for Poland Seminary in a 14-0 whitewashing of Ashland Crestview in the district finals. Carmine Tukala was 3-3 with three runs in a 5-3 win over South Range in the semis for the Bulldogs, which lost in the district finals to Norwayne a year ago. … Just when it looked like a fifth-straight district championship was not to happen, Waynedale did the unthinkable with a four-run bottom of the seventh to stun Keystone 8-7. Brayden Steiner hit a two-run one-out double to send the defending D-V state champions, which also won state in 2022 and 2023, back to regionals. Jordan Miller struck out 11 in beating Northwestern 5-1 in the semis, allowing three hits and no earned runs. Logan Troyer was 2-2 and Steiner scored two runs. … Dylan Pribanic and Joey Tenebria both went 3-4 and scored two runs in leading Chagrin Falls past Berkshire 9-3 for a district championship. Jack Watson fanned 10 in beating Tuslaw 4-3, with Henry Cimperman going 3-4 and Tenebria 2-4. Watson struck out 13 in an 18-0 no-hitter versus Clearview in sectionals, also hitting a home run and driving in four for Chagrin Falls, in search of its first trip to state. Cimperman needs three hits to time the all-time career record at the school while Watson, whose 10 wins this season ties the school mark, needs six Ks to set the season record.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I think we are playing outstanding baseball in all areas. We are getting timely hitting. We are playing great defense and our pitching has been outstanding. We are playing with confidence and having fun. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: I feel great for the kids. They have worked hard to get to this point and have come a long way from the beginning of the season. They are playing with confidence, having fun and I love watching them play. It was a great feeling for all of us to see all of the hard work pay off. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We have 3 goals to start every season. We want to win our conference, win 20 games and get to the regional. We have accomplished all of those goals, but we don't want to be satisfied now. We want to play well and see if we can get even further. It's a great accomplishment but we all want more. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: All of the teams here are great teams. Lakeview has had an amazing season. Poland is aways good and had another great season. Obviously Waynedale is the team to beat as they seem to win it every single season. We see this as a great challenge but also a great opportunity. We will have our ace on the mound and we feel as though we can compete with them and hopefully it should be a great game. 

Region 18

• Coldwater vs Amanda-Clearcreek
• Fairview vs Liberty-Benton

Region Overview: Coldwater trailed 4-0 after one inning but came from behind to defeat Margaretta 7-5 for a regional berth. Rudy Kremer was 2-3 and threw three shutout frames for the victory. Karcyn Homan pitched a five-hit shutout in a 9-0 blanking of Spencerville in the semis, with Braxton Taylor going 3-3 with four runs scored for the Cavs, which lost to eventual state champ Waynedale 2-1 in the state semifinals in 2025. .. Andrew Miller and Gary Kemmerling permitted two hits from Fredericktown in a 5-0 Amanda Clearcreek district final triumph. Kemmerling had the game-winning single in the top of the seventh to beat East Knox 4-3 in the semis. Breece Stone pounded out three hits and Nick Holland scattered four hits in a complete game effort for the Aces, whose top seven in the batting order are underclassmen. This marks the second district title for Clearcreek, the other coming in 1983. … A two-hit shutout sent Fairview to the regionals with a 4-0 victory over Milan Edison. Anthony Singer had two hits and Shady Fritch scored two runs for the Apaches, which played in the Division VI state tournament last season. Fairview reached the district finals by avenging a regular-season defeat to Tinora with a 2-1 12-inning victory. Elijah Arend had two doubles and a triple while also scoring both runs. Singer did not give up an earned run while fanning 13 in eight innings and Jonah Shininger pitched four frames of two-hit shutout ball with five Ks. The Apaches rallied from a 6-3 fifth-inning deficit to beat Ottawa Hills 7-6 with a three-run bottom of the seventh, winning on consecutive bases-loaded walks to Calvin Kepler and Arend. The 25 wins for Fairview are the second most ever at the school behind 28 set a year ago. … Kooper Leatherman ripped a bases-clearing three-run double in a four-run second and Liberty-Benton went on to beat Swanton 5-1 for a trip to regionals for the first time since 1997. Jackson Knepper threw a five-hitter for the victory. Zach Elchert hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to give the Eagles a 3-2 win over Paulding in the district semis. Leatherman struck out eight in five innings for the win, with Knepper earning the save with two no-hit frames. Knepper went four innings and Leatherman one in an 18-0 sectional triumph over Bluffton, with Leatherman driving in three and Connor Barbara going 2-2 with three runs for L-B, which lost to Coldwater 8-5 in last year’s district finals. Knepper has established the school record for wins in a season with 10, Leatherman has set the mark for doubles in a campaign with 19 and Elchert has set career records for runs (95) and HBP (39).

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: The team chemistry right now is great. Guys are locked in, together, motivated for each other and a common cause.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Excitement for the boys, the program, the community. It had been 43 years since this was done by the baseball program and only the second time in school history. We are really happy to be able to bring this back to the school and our athletic program.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Happy to be playing another week with this team, being able to go through the process of preparation and competition with these guys has been a lot of fun this year. The opportunity to extend it into regionals is something we are all grateful for.

Coach: We are on the side of the central district farthest away from the Northwest district, so we don’t have a lot of direct knowledge. But we are familiar with the names of the programs, the traditions, and we look forward to having a chance to compete against them.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Our 2 Motto's this year: W.I.N. (What's Important Now) has been a huge factor in doing what is needed to be succesfful. The other is "Keep It Close" and we always have a chance. These boys just don't give up. The battle and compete. Our pitchers have been doing a great job and our hitters are finding ways to get it done.

Coach: We have fought back and won many close games this year. We were able to execute some things late in the game offensively to push some runs across the plate to help support Elijah in his stellar performance on the mound. It was great to see the emotions and support that these boys have for each other. It is always great to see good things happen to good kids.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: When you look at our Region you see many of the top teams in the state in DV. This makes it even more impressive as you know you had to beat really good teams to get here. We just hope to continue enjoying every minute of this extra time we get to spend together as a team and continue to build these lasting lifetime memories together.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Some of the best teams in the state are in our Regional. It is unfortuntate that only 1 will come out but we know that whoever comes out of our Regional is going to represent our region very well.

Coach: The past two seasons our community has supported us in tremendous ways. Successful sports brings communities together and baseball has done that. We are very fortunate to live in an area that not only enjoys high school sports but shows their support and encouragement. They know that this support makes a difference. Unbelievable feeling.  District champs has been our goal the last few years and we have fallen just short.  Players have worked so hard to get here. Team, parents, and community are so thankful to be here for this opportunity

We have tremendous community support behind us.  The players that have come through our program in the past have helped us build to where we are at.  It means a lot to all of us.  It has been 29 years since our last regional appearance.

Fairview – Experienced team that made a deep run last year.  Athletic team who is hard to score on. Coldwater – Another year, another regional appearance.  Tremendous tradition. Amanda Clearcreek – Play a challenging schedule.   Like us, newcomers to the regional

We feel so blessed to be presented with this opportunity.  We have made getting out of districts a priority the last few years and were able to finally accomplish that goal.  We thank all our previous players who have bought in to what we are doing and trusted the process.  Our program is getting built brick by brick.  The amount of people who have reached out to our team is unbelievable.  Our goal is to be 1-0 every day and see how long our journey will continue.

Region 19

• Minford vs Lucasville Valley
• Harrison Central vs Barnesville

Region Overview: Ty Borland threw a complete game and went 3-3 at the dish with three RBIs to lead Minford to a 9-2 victory over Ironton, avenging a 4-0 loss in the district finals a year ago. Max Lauder scored three runs and Carter Frazie drove in three. It was not as easy leading up to the district title game, with the Falcons edging River Valley 4-3 in the sectionals and Wellston 7-6 in the district semis. A sacrifice fly by Colby Mullens plated Mason Bradley with the winning run in the last of the seventh against River Valley, the third run of the game for Bradley. Borland and Frazie had two hits apiece versus Wellston. … Lucasville Valley avenged a 4-3 regional semifinal loss to Lynchburg-Clay with a 9-3 district final victory, giving the Indians their fifth district title in a row. Nick Queen was 3-3 with three runs scored and Nolan Barnett went the distance for the win for Indians, which have just three senior starters. Barnett struck out 13 in 10 innings of the sectional finals and Gabe McNeil had the game-winning hit in the 11th to beat Dawson-Bryant 3-2. Carson Powell, who threw a no-hitter in the district finals last year, had three hits against D-B while McNeil produced three in a 6-1 win over Northwest in the district semis. McNeil threw a complete game, not allowing an earned run.  … Lance Smith broke up a scoreless deadlock with a three-run double in a five-run bottom of the sixth and Harrison Central held off Ridgewood 5-2 for a trip to regionals, avenging a 3-1 loss to Ridgewood in the district finals a year ago. Colten Rutter had a four-hitter for the victory. Smith was 4-4 with four RBIs and three runs in the semifinal 9-5 win over West Muskingum. Kolton Mizer had three singles and three RBIs for the Huskies, which start four sophomores and a freshman. … Barnesville advanced to regionals with a 5-4 victory over Martins Ferry after topping Union Local 4-1 in the district semis. Blake Burkhart had a walk-off single to score Max Miller with the winning run against Martins Ferry, giving the Shamrocks their second regional berth in three years.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We have been very resilient lately. We dealt with injuries that really led to struggles the last couple weeks of the season, but we have fought through some tough times to play good baseball again. I'm proud of the fight and heart we have shown of late. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning the district was very satisfying. This is the 3rd district title for our seniors and they have really led the way for us. The pitching and hitting efforts by Barnett and McNeil were big time in the district tournament. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: This group has played in the regionals before and got hit hard with the injury bug last season. Carson Powell tore his UCL throwing a no-hitter vs Wheelersburg in the district championship and our SS Thad Lansing had a serious back injury. Not having those guys last year put our backs against the wall in the 4-3 loss to regional champion Lynchburg. These guys are really looking for an opportunity to have a chance to win and hopefully end up in Akron. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: I don't know a ton about the teams from the East in Barnsville and Harrison Central, but I do know they are good programs who are constantly in the regionals and have made their way to Akron. Minford on the other hand is our in conference rival and a team that borders our school district. We always play tough hard fought games against them. We beat them twice in the regular season (6-0 and 1-0) but that doesn't mean anything at this point in the season. We know it is going to take the best game of our season to beat them a third time. I feel our kids will be up to the task again.

Coach: I can't say enough how proud I am of this baseball team. We had a lot of turnover and guys being asked to do things out of their comfort zone to help the team, and they did so without hesitation. Getting back to the regionals is no easy task and I give our kids a ton of credit. Having said that, we always have a tremendous following and a ton of support from our school administration and our community. I'm proud to coach in a community that values our efforts!

Region Overview: Columbus Academy is now 14-16 on the season after beating three higher-seeded teams en route to its ninth trip to regionals, capped off with an 8-5 victory over Northridge. Dominic Dunkle had two singles, a double and three runs scored. Dunkle had a single, double and three runs in an 11-4 victory versus Fairbanks in the semis while Colton Leibas was 3-5 and drove in three. Dunkle was also 4-4 with two runs and two RBIs in the sectionals versus Mt. Gilead. … Six players had two hits, with Derek Longstreth driving home three leading Arcanum past Mariemont 9-3 in the district finals. Regan Christ gave up one earned run in that game and one in the sectional final 8-2 win over Waynesville. Christ was also the winning pitcher in a 3-2 triumph versus Miami East in the district semis, tossing 2.1 frames of one-hit shutout relief. … Grayson Houchin did not permit an earned run for Summit Country Day in four-hitting Anna in the district finals. Jack Phillabaum was 3-4 in the 3-1 win. Phillabaum gave up no earned runs in beating Williamsburg 3-1 in the semis while Houchin fanned 13 in a one-hit 3-0 victory against Norwood in sectionals. … Sam Deland threw a complete game and drove in two in leading Versailles by Cincinnati Christian 7-2 in the district title game. Ian Bergman had three hits and tossed seven shutout innings of relief in a 12-5 semifinal victory versus Carlisle. Deland fired a one-hit shutout against Milton-Union in the sectionals with Collin Francis going 3-4 in the 10-0 win.

Coach: Once you’re on this stage you’re going to see high level baseball teams. Arcanum has been about as consistent as it gets all year long. You don't win 20+ games by accident. Summit and Versailles play in high level leagues and where they get tested night in and night out. Were excited to be a part of it and compete.

Caleb Shelly fanned all 15 batters he faced in the sectionals and threw a two-hit shutout with eight Ks against Mogadore while Grant Coblentz fired a two-hitter with nine strikeouts versus Grand Valley. Shelly had three hits, scored four runs and drove in seven against Campbell Memorial while Luke Heckert was 2-3 with three runs versus Mogadore and 3-4 in the district finals with Grand Valley. Heckert and Nathan Bryant are the lone senor starters for Lake Center, Heckert an Arizona Western JC commit and Bryant an Ohio State signee. … Chippewa has two run-rule tourney wins, 10-0 over Columbia and 11-1 versus Rittman. PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Their Grit. They never quit. They don't back down from anyone. They Believe in each other. They know that the league we play in (Wayne County Athletic League) has prepared us better than anything could. We know that if there is a strike left on the scoreboard we have a shot regardless of the score.

Coach: It was a feeling of accomplishment and knowing that what we have talked about and told each other what was possible if we stuck together and put the work in for, could and would be accomplished if we kept our focus on the main things. We dont worry about what others think or say, we worry about the US and and worry about where our feet are today. And at that moment our feet were where we expected them to be. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It's a tremendous honor and something we will not take for granted. We know what it means not only to us, but to our families and our community. We will lay it all on the line for each other and everyone else who has been there for us through it all. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We respect each of them, because we know the amount of work and effort it takes to get to this moment. It takes a great deal of sacrifice and sweat equity to achieve what each of us have achieved to this point. All of us have had to fight through a grueling schedule, deal with injuries, weather, long bus rides and the ups and downs of a long season. To be one of those teams still standing at this point is an honor and a privilege. I tip my cap to them.

Coach: Lake Center is the team to beat just like last year. There are 3 other great teams there as well, including ourselves, so it's going to come down to who plays the best on any given day.

• Seneca East vs Marion Local
• Patrick Henry vs St. Henry

Region Overview: Branson Robinson hit a two-run double to cap a four-run fifth in leading Seneca East past Crestview 4-1. Colton Ehresman did not permit an earned run in the complete-game victory for the Tigers, which beat Carey 8-7 in the district semis on a Robinson one-out RBI double in the top of the seventh, avenging two regular-season defeats. Seneca East trailed Woodmore 3-0 in the seventh, but tallied three in the bottom of the frame and then one in the ninth when Nicolas Parks singled in Braydon Robinson. Parks hit a two-run two-out single in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. … A five-run fourth rallied Marion Local from a 4-0 deficit and the Flyers held on to beat Wayne Trace for its second-straight regional appearance. Ethan Osterholt tossed six innings of three-hit shutout ball to beat Columbus Grove 4-0 in the semifinals. Marion Local scored four runs in the final two innings for a 12-11 win over Allen East in sectionals after losing an 8-0 advantage. Isaac Moeller had two hits, scored three times and drove in a pair for the 14-13 Flyers, which have a team batting average of .233, but have stolen 77 bases. … Patrick Henry will have the luxury of playing at home after winning districts with a 13-3 victory over Van Buren. Mack Hieber was 3-4 with three RBIs, Jack Meienburg 2-4 with four RBIs and Lane Beiderstedt 3-5 with a pair of RBIs for the Patriots, which last appeared in regionals in 2014. Aden Beiderstedt fired a four-hitter in a 5-0 blanking of Ayersville in the semifinals. Meienburg hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to come from behind and beat Crestview 6-5 in the sectionals. Hieber, an Ohio State commit, is the all-time strikeout leader at PH and is tied for career wins. … St. Henry advanced to regionalsfor the 26th time in school history by beating Colonel Crawford 7-4 with Jake Schwieterman and Austin Kunk going 3-4. Max Delzeith fanned a dozen in an 8-0 two-hit blanking of Parkway in the district semis. Drew Langenkamp went 3-3 while scoring four runs. Owen Zimmerman, Kunk and Hudson Schmitz all had three base knocks in a 21-0 beatdown of Ada in sectionals. St. Henry, 24-3 this season, is 1,426-596 all-time in baseball.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Offensively, we have come alive at the right time. Drawing walks, hitting for power and coming through with timely hits has been what's kept us going in the tournament. In the districts, we scored 18 runs on 23 hits and committed zero errors. We played a clean brand of baseball on both sides in the districts. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: We captured our first district title since 2014. There is a lot of excitement from the team and the community now that we are heading to the regional. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We are extremely pumped to play in the regionals this year, given that our field is the site of the D6 Northwest Regional. We have hosted the regional for many seasons so it has always been a goal to get to regionals and play in front of a large tournament crowd.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We know that we have to bring our A game heading into the regional. There are 2 MAC schools in it so we know that they are battle tested and have played and faced good baseball this year. The same can be said for Seneca East given the teams they defeated in the tournament and tough teams they play in conference.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Our kids are having a lot of fun together while displaying a lot of unselfish behavior/attitudes and toughness through adverse situations.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: After how the game started (down 2-0 after 1), I felt an incredible amount of pride with our guys to continue to battle and believe in themselves and their teammates through the end of the game. We had a whole lot of people travel 2+ hours to watch us in Shelby, and there's always a lot of joy that comes with being able to help win for the community and school.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: The special part of continuing into regionals is the chance to compete for the opportunity to represent your school and community at State - no doubt a feeling shared by the other three teams in the regional. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We obviously are very familiar with Marion Local, a league opponent, and have a lot of respect for them. While we are less familiar with Patrick Henry and Seneca East, we certainly have a lot of respect for each of those programs and the success they've had this season as well, and we are working to do our homework to prepare for Patrick Henry, first and foremost, along with being prepared for the potential of a quick turnaround to play Seneca East/Marion Local.

Region 23

• Huntington vs Mechanicsburg
• Waterford vs Hiland

Region Overview: Huntington avenged two regular-season defeats to Southeastern, rallying from a 4-0 deficit for a 7-5 victory. Troy McDonald and Tucker Hopkins each drove in two. Andrew Oyer fired a four-hit shutout with seven Ks in a 13-0 semifinal win over Symes Valley. Maveryck Hardesty was 3-3. … Connor Eyink pitched a three-hitter and scored the winning run in the fourth for Mechanicsburg in a 2-1 win over Liberty Union for a trip to regionals. Hank Huffman had two hits and Liam O’Laughlin drove in a pair in beating Cardington-Lincoln 5-2 in the district semis with Crew Lafary fanning seven in 5.1 innings. … After reaching the district title game last year, Waterford is taking the next step. Winning pitcher Braun Doak had four RBIs in the district final 8-3 victory versus Reedsville Eastern to move on to regionals for the third time ever. Doak, who is 6-10 in tourney play, and Corbin Stark drove in two apiece in topping Peebles 7-1 in the semis, with Stark pitching a five-hitter with seven Ks. Avery Pottmeyer had a no-hitter in sectionals. Doak has set the school mark for RBIs in a season with 51 while Hayden Jones, a junior catcher and leadoff hitter, has school marks for runs in a season with 51 and hits with 54. … Defending Division VI state champion Hiland trailed 2-0 before rolling past Fort Frye 11-2 for a trip to regionals for the 16th time. Andre Yoder hit a single and double, drove in two and pitched three shutout innings of relief. Grady Monigold was 2-2 with a home run and two RBIs and Monigold Griffin had a double and three RBIs in beating Buckeye Trail 6-1. Mike Miller threw a four-hitter with 13 Ks. Miller also tossed a no-hitter in the sectionals in an 11-1 victory over Bridgeport. Monigold has set season records at the school for home runs with 11 and RBIs with 48 and career marks for homers with 20 and RBIs with 133.

Coach: Right now we have that “never give up mentality”, so we just need to continue playing hard all 7 innings.

Coach: Extreme satisfaction. After having lost in the District Finals the last two years, it felt good to finally get over that hump.

Coach: With this being only the second time in school history (66 years), we understand the enormity of this event. We know the level of competition will be incredible so we will just look to continue playing our brand of baseball.

Coach: Extremely talented. We are honored to be a part of such a special group of baseball teams.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I feel like this group of kids carry the “we over me” mentality. The guys play as 1 and understand the roles given to them on the team. We preach “1 pitch”mentality and being in the present moment. This team has the ability to bounce back after facing some adversity at the end of the year. Losing two games to West Jefferson, we had to quickly find out what type of “fight” our kids had in them and I think they did a great job answering that call.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: The feeling of getting that 21st out was indescribable. We haven’t won a District Title since 2019 (first in school history) so to get back to this game was big for our program, school, and community. The community has shown up and that doesn’t go unnoticed as the kids have fed off that.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Playing in the Regionals is a great opportunity for our kids, school, and community. This is my 14th year as the head coach at Mechanicsburg and I understand that  not everyone gets this opportunity so let’s make the most of it.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: When you look at the 4 teams in our regional, it is filled with some great baseball history. Just to be mentioned with these other programs (Huntington, Berlin-Hiland, and Waterford) is an honor. These programs do it the “right way” and look forward to competing against them.

Coach: Our team has prepared and excited our game plans. They are playing for each other. We are a defensive team (.948 Fielding Percentage) and in our last two games we have had double digit hits.

Coach: It has only happened 3 times in school history. This is my 4th year at Waterford and we lost 2-1 in the District Final a year ago. It shows our program is going in the right direction. It’s a big accomplishment for our seniors. They were freshman when I started and it shows if we trust the process and buy in, we can accomplish big things. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: To be a final 16 team is an accomplishment. We are excited for the opportunity for our players, staff, and community. There is no better feeling than seeing our community and that sea of green backing our players. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Hiland, Huntington, and Mechanicsburg. Hiland and Mechanicsburg are ranked top 5 in the state for a reason. Huntington is a top 15 team in the state. All the teams in our regional are well coached and have a ton of talent.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are putting together a lot of quality at bats. Guys are showing patience at the plate and making the pitchers throw a lot of extra pitches. Our starting pitching is throwing really well right now and going deep into games. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It's a unique honor knowing that you are one of 16 teams in the division still playing baseball and we do not take it for granted. Winning your district is not an easy task and we know the games will only get tougher as we advance to regional play.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: It is going to be a difficult two day grind for whoever comes out of our region. No one gets to this point by accident, all the schools competing at this level are going to be good. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: All four schools in our region have been tested during the tournament and throughout the regular season. We have all had good seasons and are primed to play for a chance to reach Akron. I think we're going to see some quality baseball games played in Lancaster this week.

Coach: I'd like to thank the community of East Holmes for their support of our program and of Hiland High School as a whole. The parents and players have poured a lot of time and energy into the program and we wouldn't be where we are today without their efforts. The coaches on this team are the best in the state in my opinion. They love the game and relish the opportunity to work with these young players. Thank you to Richie, Kevin, Jordan and Chad for all you do within the Hiland baseball family.

Region Overview: Two unearned runs in the top of the ninth helped Fort Recovery by Cincinnati Country Day 4-2 for its third district crown in a row and fifth all-time. Alex Gaerke had three hits and pitched six innings allowing one earned run with 11 strikeouts. Colson Post was 2-3 with three runs and three RBIs in topping Triad 9-1 in the semis after the Indians dominated Greenville 9-4 in sectional play with Reece Wendel driving in two and scoring a pair. Fort Recovery has nine senior starters. … Aidan Frisby hurled four shutout innings of relief in helping MVCA beat Troy Christian 7-3 in the district title game. An eight-run third lifted the Lions past East Clinton 9-6 in the district semis after Max Simon and Jack Ventura teamed for a one-hit shutout over Purcell Marian 13-0. … Gabe Knopp tossed six innings without permitting an earned run and Chris Hodge Jr. scored four times in a 15-1 Dayton Christian victory over Dixie. Brody Schmidt hurled a two-hitter to defeat Riverside 4-1 in the semis after fanning 13 in a five-hit 9-1 sectional triumph over Yellow Springs. … Brody Beck threw a complete game and Northmor knocked off top-ranked West Jefferson 5-4 for a district championship. The Golden Knights also won 5-4 in the semis, defeating Grandview Heights behind the strong pitching of senior Trevor Brubaker, who has a career ERA of 0.96.

Vincenzo Lyons was 3-3 in the district finals and Logan Ritzler 2-2 with two runs and two RBIs versus Danbury, and Lyons and Tucker King 2-2 against Stritch. Ritzler has thrown 11 innings with 16 Ks while not permitting an earned run in the tourney. AJ Shoemaker now has 128 career hits to pass the record held by Nick Palm. Charlie Palm has time the school mark of 14 doubles in a season held by Nick Palm and has also passed the single-season stolen base record previously held by Eric Lee with 28. … Tyson Webster hurled a no-hitter at Western Reserve in a 2-0 semifinal win and Maplewood went on to edge Andrews Osbourne 4-2 in the district finals behind a Josh Suba one-hitter sending the Rockets to regionals under first-year head coach Matt Vadas. Webster also had a no-hitter in the sectionals against Cardinal. It marks the first regional appearance for Maplewood since 1999. … Medina Christian was an 11 seed but has not allowed a run in the tournament, knocking off Elyria Open Door Christian 21-0, Warren JFK 3-0 and Bristol 6-0. Caden Dyer threw a four-hitter at JFK, district champions the past five seasons. … Kidron Central Christian scored two runs in the top of the seventh to rally by McDonald 5-4 for a regional berth, the third ever and first since 1999. Coach: being a 1st year coach, they told me goad #1 was a district championship, so I personally was very happy for that senior class.  Theyve word hard to acheive that goal, The feeling was per joy for them.

Coach: Almost unbeliavable.  Having to finsh a game with only 8 player earlier in the year, never imagioned it would all come together for us to put this tournament run together.

Coach: Extermeny impressed at the talen we will be seeing.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We are getting production from multiple people. Our lineup can and has produced runs from top to bottom at different times and thats important. We've also fielded the ball fairly well down the stretch here which is important for our pitchers to know they have support behind them allowing them to attack the zone. 

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It was fantastic...that was a big win for us beating a very good McDonald team. We've been in this District Final game many of times over the course of my career (even last year) and just haven't had what we've needed to push through so finally knocking down the wall was an awesome feeling for all of us. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Its exciting...we are greatful to be here and look forward to the opportunity to compete. Playing into June doesn't happen often so this is exciting for the kids and for our families.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: I haven't analyzed the quadrant a whole lot honestly. No matter who we play we know we will need to play at our best. We are taking one game at a time and are focused on taking care of the things we can take care of and that has nothing to do with the opponents we play. All of them will be good.

Coach: God is good and we are really thankful to be in this position...we certainly do not take this for granted. No season is without its ups and downs but this group of guys have continued to put in the work and get better as the season has progressed and that makes it fun. Region 26

• New Riegel vs Leipsic
• Montpelier vs McComb

Region Overview: Blake Moes hit a two-run single in the fifth inning and New Riegel held on for a 3-2 victory over St Mary Central Catholic, avenging a 7-1 loss in the regular season. New Riegel, which lost to eventual state champion Minster 9-8 in the regional semis last season, beat Arcadia 6-1 and Vanlue 20-0 prior to the district finals. Moes went 3-4 versus Arcadia and Gabe Pugh threw a three-hitter with 13 Ks. New Riegel, which has won six district titles and one state championship in 1969, has seven underclass starters. … Leipsic beat Kalida for the second time this year and then romped over Edgerton 10-0 for a trip to regionals. Colin Niese drove in two runs in the 4-3 win over Kalida while Aaron Hazelton threw a three-hit shutout and went 3-4 with two RBIs versus Edgerton. John Dewar fanned 15 in a three-hitter to beat North Baltimore 7-1 in sectionals. … It was time for a little revenge for Montpelier, which defeated defending Division VII state champ Minster 11-2 in the district finals. Minster topped the Locos 3-0 in the regional title game a year ago. Wesley Hartsock went 4-5 and Kenneth Smeltzer struck out nine in a complete-game victory. Hartsock fanned nine in the district semifinal 10-0 shutout of Edon and Smeltzer tossed a one-hitter in beating Stryker 11-0 in sectional action. Montpelier, which has won four in a row after losing four straight, has won three consecutive districts. Griffith Cooley has established the school record for career stolen bases with 111 while Smeltzer has set marks for wins in a season with 12, wins in a career with 25, career record at 25-2, appearances in a season with 15 and appearances in a career with 29. … Brayden Welty surrendered just one earned run in pitching McComb past Miller City 2-1 for a regional berth, the fifth in school history and first since 2019. Jace Wartgow fired a no-hitter in beating Pandora-Gilboa in the semis, with Luke Kern going 3-3 while driving home four. Kern was 3-4 at the plate in a 14-0 beatdown of Hardin Northern in the sectionals, with Welty and Kern combining on a three-hit shutout for McComb, whose field was renamed this year after long-time caretaker Don Andonian.

Coach: Our pitching and defense have been solid. The top of our lineup is doing some really good work right now and we are running the bases hard. Things we wanted to come together are coming together.

Coach: Ecstatic. We won the district last year and that was the first time in a while. To win them back-to-back is an amazing feeling. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Honored. I coached against Coach Henry for years in the BVC. It is crazy to match up with him in this regional. I am just so happy for the community getting to come back and watch baseball in Bowling Green again this year. I want to be prepared and play well.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: There is a lot more familiarity this year. We scrimmage Leipsic. We played McComb in the regular season. Montpeiler was in this region with us last year. I think all 4 teams are really solid. I think it could be just 3 really good games to see who makes it to the next level.

Coach: We are 15-9. We were 11-5 at one point then lost 4 in a row. Fortunately, we have turned around since the tournament started. We were last in the regionals in 2024 where we lost to Fort Recovery in the finals.

Coach: I am happy for the boys that we won Districts. They ran into some hard times here at the end of the year but have come together as a team.

Coach: The 4 teams in our Regional are very good. You have to start with Montpelier. They are on a great run. They were in the Regionals in 2024 as well and were there last year also. New Riegel was in the Regionals last year as well and they are a very solid team. Some people may be surprised that McComb is in but I am not. They have a talented athletic team with some very good players.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Most people would look at our season as maybe not as successful as it could’ve been. We came off a long basketball season (Regional Finals) and it took a bit to get things going. We’ve had some ups and downs throughout the season but I have always felt like this is the way this group of young men can play baseball. Our hitting has come alive and the boys are playing with great energy.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning that district title with this group of seniors and this team meant so much to me personally. At times we felt like this season was a wash, but these kids are so resilient. They play for each other and for this community and it’s been something really special to be a part of. We wanted nothing more than to face Minster after the ending we had to our 2025 season (losing to the eventual state champions). The way we played on Saturday showed that we can compete against anybody.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: At the beginning of the season, we set our sights on finding a way to get back to where we were last year. Two years ago (2024), when we made our first regional appearance since 1987, we were just happy to get to play another game. With last season’s post season experience, I feel that our boys are much more prepared for the pressure of a regional atmosphere. We are blessed to make it back to Carter Park.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: McComb just beat a really good Miller City team, who we saw in last year's regional semifinal game. They look like they can really swing a hot stick, despite what their record may say. New Riegel made it back to the regional as well after beating St. Mary’s CC - they are just as experienced as anyone here. Leipsic has run the gauntlet of knocking off Kalida and Edgerton so I know how competitive they will be. Any one of these teams can win the whole thing on any given day.

Coach: I give all of the credit to my staff (Eric Smeltzer, Ryan Yahraus, and Wes Rickenberg) because we couldn’t have gotten here without all the time and effort they have put into this season. Our JV Coaches (Tyler Benner and Doug Williamson) have helped our program improve tremendously. I never would have imagined when I returned to coaching in 2017 that we would be here at this moment. My staff and I are blessed to be able to be where we are. Like I’ve said before, this town, the community, the people who make this whole thing work are special. The support that this village has for this group of young men is unmatched. The amount of people who showed up for the basketball run makes me excited to see the crowd come Wednesday. I said it back in 2024 - and I truly meant it, we were on the cusp of doing something really special in Northwest Ohio. Great things are happening at Montpelier and it is a great time to be a Locomotive!

Coach: We are familiar with the two teams on the other side of the bracket - Leipsic is in our league (BVC) and New Riegel is a team we play in our non-league schedule. Montpelier, whom we match up with, is not an opponent we have on the schedule. It will be a fun challenge to prep for this week.

• Newark Catholic vs South Webster
• Green (Franklin Furnace) vs Strasburg-Franklin

Region Overview: Owen Przymierski gave up no earned runs and Kane Stephey had four RBIs in leading Newark Catholic back to regionals with a 7-1 victory over Fairfield Christian Academy. Newark Catholic handled Liberty Christian 10-0 in the semis after edging Shekinah Christian 4-2 in sectional play. … South Webster will be making its fourth regional appearance since 2017 and third in the last four years after a 15-9 win over Portsmouth Clay. Benaiah Andrews, Easton Large, Pierce Kreischer and Cole Bennett all had three hits for the Jeeps, which scored 11 runs in the fifth to capture back-to-back district titles for the first time ever. One of four schools in the country with the "Jeep" mascot, South Webster defeated Whiteoak 8-1 in the district semifinals with Hunter Barnard producing three hits and Andrews throwing a three-hitter. Eight of nine starters are batting between .314 and .379 for South Webster … Furnace Green returns to the regionals following a 4-3 victory over Trimble. Gabe Blevins had the walk-off hit for Green, which lost to Newark Catholic in the regional semis a year ago. Jonathan Knapp retired 11 on strikes in a three-hitter to beat Southern 8-0 in semifinal play. Green, which had not been to regionals since 2005 until last year, has been to state just once, that coming in 1986. Knapp has 400 career strikeuts, ninth in OHSAA history. Sophomore Riddick Jenkins has an extra-base hit and scored the first run in both tournament games this year and has now scored the game-winning run in two consecutive district championship contests. … Drew Lancaster tossed a two-hit shutout and Caden Dugan and Brodie Hurst had three RBIs each in leading Strasburg-Franklin past River 7-0 in the district title game. Dugan hit a single and triple and drove in two in a 4-2 semifinal win over Shadyside while Brody Baughman had a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts in a 9-0 beating of Catholic Central in the sectionals. This marks the second district title in a row and second ever. Dugan holds the school record for doubles with 41 and RBIs with 112, Lancaster the mark for runs with 127 and Baughman the scholl record for Ks with 97.

Coach: Winning a district title is always first on the list of goals each year. This has been a year full of high expectations for these kids and completing that first task was a great moment for our team and community.

Coach: Competing in the regionals is another tall task. We view it as another 4-team tournament. Everyone is good at this stage and you have to go out and play with confidence if you want to survive and advance. 

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: C It's the same four teams as last year. All of us are familiar with each other. We know how talented and well coached Newark Catholic and Strasburg are from playing them last year. Green is a team close to home that we've already played this season. They (Green) are well coached and have some fantastic players. Whoever we match up with this week is going to be a challenge.

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: We have continued to show resilience during the season and have won several close ball games against some worthy opponents. We have strengthened our schedule to prepare for these games and we feel being in those battles has worked out in our favor. We love how our lineup is set up right now. We have had to make some tweaks here and there to iron it out but right now we have our guys in the right spot to make an impact.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It felt great to do this for our community. The boys have put in the work. This is the second time in program history that we have won back-to-back district titles. The last time that happened was in 1985 and 1986, with the 1986 team winning the regional championship and heading to the final four. 

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We have learned from being in the regional last season. We have talked about what worked in preparing for the regional tournament and what did not work. We feel having been on this stage last season has prepared us to make a run this season.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: We feel that the region is wide open this season and any of the four of us could be heading to the Canton/Akron area. Strasburg Franklin brings back several pieces from last year's regional semi-final team. We know we will see quality pitching and that they will put the bat on the ball. Their players are experienced and we look forward to a good ballgame with them. We played South Webster in the first week of the season and won. We also know they have improved a lot since then and that they have also played quality competition, especially in their conference, to prepare them for this regional tournament. They have great players and return almost all of their guys from last season's regional runner-up Newark Catholic is a program that is self-explanatory. Year in and year out they put quality teams out there and are always towards the top. Last season, we played them and made some timely mistakes that resulted in a 7-1 loss. We feel we are more experienced this season.

Coach: As a coaching staff, we absolutely love the comradery of our young men. They are a family. They will lift each other up when things get rough and keep each other focused and accountable. They are a loose bunch which is exactly what you need to play this sport. They know if you are uptight, that is when you are more likely to make a mistake. My assistant coaches, Brandon Doyle, Josh McMackin, Trevor Carver, Isaac Bockway, and I have great chemistry and work very well together. They are always involved in the decisions I make and their input matters so much in both preparation and in the game. They are some of the best coaches in the area and even better men to mentor our boys.

Coach: Our pitching staff has led us all season, especially our top 2 arms in Brody Baughman and Drew Lancaster. They have combined for 17 wins this spring. The last few weeks our offense has started to pick up.

Coach: 2nd year in a row this group has won the East District Championship, which is a goal of ours every season. These guys have put in the work, and it was good to see them get to celebrate Thursday night.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We had lofty expectations coming into this year after making the regional for the first time in school history last season and only graduating 1 player from that team. This group handled that pressure and they are ready to get back down to Athens and compete in what will be a pretty loaded regional

Coach: The same 4 teams from last year's regional in Athens. We know Green, Newark Catholic and South Webster are strong programs with talented players that are well coached. We will have to play our best baseball of the season to continue to advance.

Region Overview: Evan Smith had three hits and scored three runs and Grant Bergman drove in three as Russia outlasted Cedarville 12-9 in the district finals to move on to the regionals for the ninth straight season. Maddox Goubeaux fanned a dozen in a one-hitter to beat Mississinawa Valley 7-0 in the semis. … A two-hitter from Cole Alexander has Newton in the regionals for the first time since 1995 with a 9-0 win over Fayetteville-Perry, avenging a 5-4 loss in the district finals last season. Alexander fanned 15 while Will Weber drove in three. The Indians scored two in the last of the seventh to beat Jackson Center in the district semis. Austin Tippie fanned 10 and did not give up an earned run for Newton, which romped over Catholic Central 16-0 in the sectionals with Alexander and Tippie driving in three runs apiece.  … Delphos St. John’s is looking to follow up a state basketball title with one in baseball after Aaron Elwer and Braden Lindeman teamed up for a two-hit shutout in a 9-0 blanking of Mohawk in the district title game. The Blue Jays have outpointed the opposition 49-3 in the tournament, beating Lima Temple Christian 23-0 and Delphos Jefferson 17-3. … Carson Arnold singled in Eli Grudich in the last of the ninth to give Fort Loramie its first district championship since 2022 with a 3-2 victory over Tri-County North. Sammy Goubeaux threw 5.1 innings of four-hit shutout relief for the win. Lucas Brandewie and Arnold both had three hits and scored three times in defeating Southeastern 13-3 in the semis.

Coach: We've been in a lot of district title games over the years and lost some tough ones by a run. Winning one was a big goal for this group, so seeing them celebrate together was pretty special. A lot of former players are rooting hard for this team.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Being able to practice Saturday morning after Friday's win was pretty special. The kids are excited for the competition and the atmosphere that comes with playing in a regional. It's a quick turnaround, but they've had some good preparation thus far and are will be ready to get out there and compete.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: Most of our focus has been on Russia. They excel in all 3 phases of the game. We know they're a good team with a really good No. 1 pitcher, they are well coached. We know a little about Fort Loramie too. They can really hit, play a tough schedule, and seem to be able to win games in multiple ways. Coach Jeff Sanders always has his guys ready to go. We're not as familiar with Delphos St. John's, but we know they play in a tough league and have a strong arm on the mound as well. At this point, we're mainly focused on ourselves and getting ready for Russia.

Coach: We earned the right to be here and we understand the achievement. We will have to be prepared for the competition to get even tougher, and we will need minimize mistakes.

PBR: Thoughts on the four teams in your division that are at the regional?
Coach: All 4 teams are extremely good, with each having it’s different strengths.    

PBR: Anything else you would like to add, feel free to send it. Remember, this is for your players, your coaching staff and your community.
Coach: This year’s team worked extremely hard to get to this point. There’s been ups & downs, but they’ve kept working & working.  I’m happy to see that their efforts have translated into earning a spot in the Regionals. The community should be proud of their accomplishments this season.
