Kansas Class of 2028 Rankings Update: Preseason Edition

After our largest preseason showcase turnout of all time, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff has once again updated the state’s 2028 rankings. Following a massive mid-fall update, we made more substantial adjustments as we head deeper into the season.
While the top of our rankings remains mostly in-tact with some minor shuffleing of players who were already in the top 20, this update features several newcomers and notable risers after strong showings throughout the preseason circuit. Below, we take a deeper look at the movement within the class and highlight standouts from the preseason showcase circuit.

Kamerzell jumps over 15 spots into the top 10 after showing a velo jump to 88 at the MOKAN Preseason All-State and throwing some big innings at the varsity level for one of the top teams in the state. |

A top performer at the Engaged Athletics scout day, Harris jumps nearly 14 spots. The right-handed hitter shows levers and future power potential. Defensively, Harris is quickly developing as a catcher. |

Isaac Thompson SS / RHP / De Soto, KS / 2028Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 10
Up 25 spots thanks to major leaps on both sides of the ball. As a position player, Thompson had a breakout performance at the MOKAN Preseason All-State, showing some impressive pop. He has also become a middle-of-the-order bat for the Wildcats this spring. On the mound, Thompson shows a repeatable delivery featuring a fastball into the mid-80s. |

Abernathy rises over 30 spots after a breakout performance on the mound at the KC Preseason ID, where he featured a fastball up to 87 with tilt. The two-way athlete also showed thump from the right side with near 100 exit velo. |
