ALABAMA - The road to the state finals continued this past weekend as teams across Alabama battled for a spot in the Final 4. From heavyweight showdowns and dramatic Game 3s to dominant pitching performances and late-inning heroics, the Elite 8 round once again delivered some of the best baseball of the season.

With the field now narrowed down across all classifications, we take a look back at how each series played out, while also highlighting the top hitting and pitching performances from the round as teams punched their tickets one step closer to championship weekend in Jacksonville & Oxford.


AHSAA Class 7A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 5 Hewitt-Trussville def. No. 4 Tuscaloosa County (4-5, 8-0, 5-2)
Top Hitting Performance: Wyatt Williams (Thompson) - 4-for-7, 2B, HR, 3 RBI

No. 2 Thompson def. Bob Jones (4-3, 7-1)

Another chapter was added to one of Alabama’s emerging postseason rivalries during the Elite 8 round, as Thompson went on the road and knocked off Bob Jones in a two-game sweep to return to the Final 4. The Warriors survived a tightly-contested opener in extra innings behind another strong outing from Ashton Blair, who worked seven innings while allowing just one earned run. Wyatt Williams delivered one of the biggest swings of the game with a home run and two RBIs before also recording the save, while Logan Watson and Kade Brantley both added multiple extra-base hits in the 4-3 victory. Thompson carried that momentum into Game 2 and never looked back, leaning on a dominant complete-game effort from Austin Barnett, who struck out 11 while limiting Bob Jones to just one run. Williams stayed hot offensively with another multi-hit performance, while Cooper Craycraft, Brantley, and Blair all delivered key doubles and RBIs as the Warriors secured the series-clinching win and continued their postseason run.


No. 5 Hewitt-Trussville def. No. 4 Tuscaloosa County (4-5, 8-0, 5-2)

After dropping a tightly-contested opener, Hewitt-Trussville responded like a veteran postseason club, winning the final two games against Tuscaloosa County to advance to the Final 4. The Huskies completely flipped the momentum in Game 2 behind a dominant outing from Jace Riggan, who tossed a two-hit shutout while also reaching base three times offensively. Hudson Mitchell delivered the biggest offensive swing with a three-RBI double, while Taylor Alfano and Cale McIntosh added key contributions in the 8-0 win. With the series on the line in Game 3, Hewitt-Trussville once again leaned on elite pitching, this time from McIntosh, who fired a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts. Mitchell stayed hot at the plate with another multi-hit performance, while Andrew Walker and Sawyer Jackson each drove in runs as the Huskies secured the 5-2 win and punched their ticket back to the Final 4.


No. 8 Central-Phenix City def. Dothan (2-1, 4-9, 6-3)

Central-Phenix City continued its impressive postseason run by taking two of three from Dothan in a hard-fought Elite 8 series to reach the Final 4. The Red Devils opened the series with a tight 2-1 victory despite managing just four hits offensively, leaning on strong pitching and timely execution to secure the win. Tyler Caldwell worked 5.1 scoreless innings, while Hayden Jones closed things out with 1.2 hitless innings for the save. Cam Norton and Leland Stanford each drove in a run in the opener as Central-Phenix City found just enough offense to hold on. After Dothan answered in Game 2, the Red Devils responded in the decisive finale with another clutch late-inning push. Tied 3-3 entering the sixth inning, Central-Phenix City scored three runs to take control, highlighted by Jaylen Carter’s go-ahead RBI single. Ashton Blankenship delivered four scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, while Carter Gilley, Norton, and Capps Burkes all contributed RBIs as the Red Devils closed out the series with a 6-3 victory.

AHSAA Class 6A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 7 Hazel Green def. No. 5 Homewood (4-1, 4-6, 8-4)
Top Hitting Performance: Connor Greb (Spain Park) - 5-for-7, 3B, 2 RBI
🧊 Top Pitching Performance: Evan Malone (Northridge) - 7 IP (CGW), 2 H, 0 ER, 8 K

No. 8 Hartselle def. Pell City (2-1, 13-5)

Hartselle showed both resilience and offensive firepower during its Elite 8 sweep over Pell City to move on to the Final 4. The Tigers had to grind out the opener, trailing 1-0 entering the seventh inning before rallying for two runs to steal a 2-1 win. Carter Lee delivered the game-tying RBI single before Sam Gillette followed with the go-ahead sacrifice fly, while Barrett McKelvey and Asher Doepel combined to hold Pell City to just one run on the mound. Doepel was especially sharp in relief, striking out three across two scoreless innings to close things out. In Game 2, Hartselle’s offense came alive early and never let up in a 13-5 victory. Cole Griffin drove in three runs, while Cruise Baker, Cole Miles, and Lee all turned in multi-hit performances as the Tigers pulled away offensively to complete the sweep and continue their strong postseason run.


No. 7 Hazel Green def. No. 5 Homewood (4-1, 4-6, 8-4)

Hazel Green battled through one of the toughest series in Class 6A during the Elite 8, taking two of three from Homewood to secure a trip to the Final 4. The Trojans grabbed the opener behind another strong outing from Colton Clark, who struck out eight across 6.1 innings while limiting Homewood to just one run. Offensively, Hazel Green made the most of limited opportunities, getting a two-run home run from Andrew Beaverson and a triple from Ty Hunter in the 4-1 victory. After Homewood answered in Game 2 to force a decisive finale, Hazel Green responded with one of its best performances of the postseason in Game 3. Clark delivered another huge swing with a two-run homer, while Jackson Crippen, Lakin Swaim, and Colby Atkins all turned in multi-hit performances offensively. Beaverson once again impacted the game on both sides, driving in two runs while also shutting the door with 3.2 scoreless innings in relief as the Trojans pulled away late for an 8-4 win to advance.


No. 2 Spain Park def. No. 10 Gulf Shores (3-1, 1-2, 13-0)

Spain Park responded exactly how a championship-level team should after dropping Game 2, erupting in the decisive game to take the series over Gulf Shores and advance to the Final 4. The Jaguars opened the series with a strong all-around effort in Game 1, leaning on Houston Holmes and Cason Weidman to combine for a one-run performance on the mound while Connor Greb continued his huge postseason with a perfect 3-for-3 showing at the plate. Evan Taylor delivered the biggest swing offensively with a two-run double, and Brodie Bragg and Joe Cross each added extra-base hits in the 3-1 win. After Gulf Shores evened the series, Spain Park completely flipped the momentum in Game 3 with a dominant 13-0 run-rule victory. Michael Johnson broke the game open with five RBIs and two doubles, while Rhys Jones and Barrett Price each drove in two runs. Connor Dabbs handled the work on the mound with four scoreless innings as the Jaguars overwhelmed Gulf Shores to punch their ticket to the Final 4.


No. 1 Northridge def. Chelsea (8-1, 9-3)

Northridge continued to look like one of the most complete teams remaining in Alabama, sweeping Chelsea in convincing fashion to advance to the Final 4. The Jaguars set the tone immediately in Game 1 behind another dominant outing from Evan Malone, who tossed a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Charlie Wilson drove in two runs offensively, while Cooper Obradovich added three RBIs to help power an 8-1 win. In Game 2, Northridge once again showed off its depth on the mound, as Evan Champion and Adam Hall combined to limit Chelsea over the final four innings to close out the series. The offense stayed balanced throughout, with John Pruet and Grayson Cannon each turning in multi-hit performances, while Wilson, Ellis Tucker, and Ford Cole all drove in two runs as the Jaguars completed the sweep with a 9-3 victory.


AHSAA Class 5A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 1 Faith Academy def. No. 3 Demopolis (2-0, 2-1)
Top Hitting Performance: Hunter Elmore (American Christian) - 3-for-4, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 4 BB
🧊 Top Pitching Performance: Ivan Hand (Briarwood Christian) - 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 12 K

No. 9 Moody def. Madison Academy (2-1, 3-1)

Moody continued to win with pitching, defense, and timely execution during the Elite 8 round, grinding out a two-game sweep over Madison Academy to advance to the Final 4. The Blue Devils scored two runs in the first inning of Game 1 and made it stand the rest of the way behind another complete-game effort from Bryant Hardin, who allowed just one run across seven innings. Moody managed only three hits offensively in the 2-1 win, but escaped a tense seventh inning after Madison Academy put two runners on with no outs before Hardin worked out of the jam to finish the complete game. Game 2 followed a similar script, as the Blue Devils once again leaned heavily on the arm of JB Leatherwood, who tossed another complete-game win while striking out seven. Carter Mitchell delivered the biggest offensive swing with an RBI double, and Moody scratched across just enough offense to complete the sweep and continue its impressive postseason run.


No. 2 American Christian def. East Limestone (6-5, 12-0)

American Christian's lineup looked as dangerous as any team left standing during the Elite 8 round, as the Patriots powered their way past East Limestone to secure a spot in the Final 4. Game 1 was a battle throughout, but ACA used timely power and strong pitching late to hold on for a 6-5 win. Drew Jackson struck out nine across five innings to earn the win, while BJ Garth delivered one of the biggest performances of the game with a home run and three RBIs before also closing things out on the mound for the save. Hudson McComb stayed hot with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Hunter Elmore added another home run offensively. In Game 2, the Patriots completely overwhelmed East Limestone in a 12-0 rout behind a dominant two-way performance from Elmore, who tossed a complete-game shutout while also blasting two home runs and driving in four runs at the plate. ACA continued to pile on offensively throughout the lineup, getting home runs from Garth, Jaylen Crocker, and Clayton Rice as the Patriots rolled into the Final 4 with one of the most impressive showings of the weekend.


No. 1 Faith Academy def. No. 3 Demopolis (2-0, 2-1)

Runs were hard to come by in one of the best pitching matchups of the Elite 8 round, but top-ranked Faith Academy found a way to survive and advance with a two-game sweep over third-ranked Demopolis. The Rams opened the series with a 2-0 win behind a dominant outing from Brodie Wilson, who struck out 12 while carrying a shutout into the seventh inning. Eli Quinley delivered the biggest offensive swing with an RBI triple, while Braydon Wright added a pair of hits to help provide enough support in a tightly-contested opener. Game 2 was even tighter, stretching into extra innings before Faith Academy scratched across the go-ahead run in the ninth on a bunt to take a 2-1 lead. Demopolis immediately threatened in the bottom half with the bases loaded and no outs, but Lathan Boddie escaped the jam with a strikeout and game-ending line-drive double play to secure the sweep. Christian Freeman was outstanding across eight innings in the win, while Quinley and Collin Hall both added extra-base hits offensively as the Rams punched their ticket to the Final 4.


No. 6 Briarwood Christian def. Elmore County (4-0, 8-0)

Briarwood Christian looked dominant on both sides throughout its Elite 8 sweep over Elmore County, punching its ticket to the Final 4 behind elite pitching performances and timely offense. The Lions opened the series with a 4-0 shutout in Game 1 as Houston Hartsfield tossed a complete-game effort with eight strikeouts, while the offense scratched across enough support behind doubles from Jamison Barnes and Parker Daniels. In Game 2, Briarwood elevated things even further behind one of the top pitching outings of the round from Ivan Hand, who allowed just one hit and struck out 12 across six scoreless innings. Barnes once again paced the offense, finishing with four RBIs and another double, while contributions throughout the lineup helped the Lions complete the convincing sweep and continue their strong postseason run.


AHSAA Class 4A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 2 Westbroook Christian def. No. 1 Deshler (10-8, 9-4)
Top Hitting Performance: Cash Harrell (Opp) - 4-for-8, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI
🧊 Top Pitching Performance: Brodie Johnson (Westbrook Christian) - SV, 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 K; 7 IP (CGW), 5 H, 1 ER, 10 K

No. 10 Central-Florence def. No. 6 Alexandria (10-2, 5-2)

Central-Florence continued its strong postseason run by sweeping Alexandria in the Elite 8 to secure a berth in the Final 4. The Falcons controlled the opener behind another complete-game effort from Reed Bruce, who allowed just two runs across seven innings while also contributing offensively with a double. Lucas Price drove in three runs to lead the offense, while Elijah Lambert and Brock Price both delivered multi-hit performances in the 10-2 victory. Central-Florence carried that momentum into Game 2, where Cole Wilcoxson turned in a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one earned run across six innings to help close out the series. Lambert stayed hot at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Brock Price and Collin Barnes each added doubles as the Falcons completed the sweep and advanced to the Final 4.


No. 2 Westbroook Christian def. No. 1 Deshler (10-8, 9-4)

In what felt like the biggest heavyweight matchup of the Elite 8 round, second-ranked Westbrook Christian rose to the occasion and swept top-ranked Deshler to punch its ticket to the Final 4. The Warriors leaned on both their lineup depth and pitching throughout the series, beginning with a hard-fought 10-8 win in Game 1. Emmett Daniel earned the win on the mound while also collecting three hits offensively, and Brady Carden delivered one of the biggest performances of the game with a home run, double, and two RBIs. Brodie Johnson closed the door with a dominant save, striking out three across the final 1.1 innings, while Brady Ryan added a triple in the opener. Game 2 once again delivered late drama, with the teams tied 4-4 entering the seventh before Westbrook Christian erupted for five runs to take control. Johnson was outstanding in the complete-game win, striking out 10 while allowing just one earned run, and the offense continued to pressure Deshler behind multi-hit performances from Carden, Wil Chadwick, and Luke Thompson. Brody Blevins and Ryan each homered as the Warriors completed one of the most impressive sweeps of the postseason.


No. 5 Opp def. No. 7 Oak Grove (7-5, 9-6)

Opp’s offense continued to stay red-hot during the Elite 8 round, as the Bobcats powered their way past Oak Grove in a two-game sweep to reach the Final 4 for the first time since 1994. In Game 1, Opp leaned on another complete-game effort from Porter Nelson, who battled through seven innings while also contributing two doubles at the plate. Cash Harrell drove in three runs, while Parker Burgess added a pair of hits in the 7-5 win. The bats were even louder in Game 2, as Harrell delivered one of the top offensive performances of the weekend, finishing 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and three RBIs to lead the Bobcats. Grady Patterson added a home run of his own, while Nelson and Clay Jackson both turned in multi-hit performances as Opp completed the sweep and continued its impressive postseason run.


No. 4 Bibb County def. Houston Academy (10-3, 9-2)

Bibb County looked every bit like a team capable of making a championship push during the Elite 8, sweeping Houston Academy behind dominant pitching and a lineup that consistently delivered timely extra-base hits. In Game 1, Brayden Cash starred on both sides, tossing a complete-game effort with eight strikeouts while also driving in three runs at the plate. Ethan McMillan continued his huge postseason with a double and four RBIs, while Cortez Morrow and Landon Rich each added extra-base hits in the 10-3 victory. The Choctaws carried that momentum straight into Game 2, where Kaige Watkins turned in one of the best pitching performances of the round, striking out 11 in a complete-game win. McMillan once again paced the offense with three hits and two doubles, while Morrow and Scooter Sanders added multiple RBIs as Bibb County completed the sweep and secured its spot in the Final 4.


AHSAA Class 3A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 2 Gordo def. No. 3 Collinsville (9-6, 21-3)
Top Hitting Performance: Rylan Smith (Lee-Scott Academy) - 5-for-8, HR, 2B, 8 RBI
🧊 Top Pitching Performance: Barrett Cook (Lee-Scott Academy) - 7 IP (CGW), 3 H, 1 ER, 9 K

No. 2 Gordo def. No. 3 Collinsville (9-6, 21-3)

Gordo answered the challenge in a big way during the Elite 8 round, taking down Collinsville in dominant fashion to move on to the Final 4. After earning a competitive 9-6 win in Game 1 behind another strong two-way performance from Colin Pate, the Green Wave completely broke the series open in the finale. Pate tossed a complete game in the opener while also collecting three hits at the plate, and Noah McDaniel, Brodie Crowe, and Makain Robertson all delivered key RBIs offensively to help Gordo grab the early series lead. In Game 2, the offense exploded for 21 runs as the Green Wave overwhelmed Collinsville from the start. Bennett Trull and Crowe each drove in three runs, while Robertson and Rainer Russell added multiple RBIs of their own in the run-rule victory. Ryder Robertson handled the work on the mound with a complete-game effort as Gordo punched its ticket to the Final 4 in emphatic fashion.


No. 4 Piedmont def. Oakman (5-2, 15-3)

Piedmont continued to swing one of the hottest bats in Class 3A during the Elite 8 round, rolling past Oakman in a two-game sweep to earn a spot in the Final 4. The Bulldogs leaned on strong pitching and timely offense in Game 1, as Cole Austin tossed a complete-game effort while also contributing offensively with a double and two walks. Carson Cleveland drove in three runs, while Alex Bass added a two-run double to help secure the 5-2 win. Any drama quickly disappeared in Game 2, as Piedmont’s offense exploded for 15 runs behind contributions throughout the lineup. William Hurst drove in four runs, Austin stayed hot with three more hits and three RBIs, and Cleveland, Benjamin Dempsey, and Carson Sanders all delivered multi-hit performances. Crawford Mallett helped slam the door on the mound with a dominant relief outing, striking out eight across 4.1 innings, as Piedmont pulled away for a run-rule win and advanced in convincing fashion.


No. 5 Lee-Scott Academy def. Thomasville (20-1, 10-1)

Few teams across Alabama were more dominant during the Elite 8 round than Lee-Scott Academy, as the Warriors overwhelmed Thomasville in a two-game sweep to advance to the Final 4. The offense was relentless throughout the series, scoring 30 runs across the two wins while piling up extra-base hits up and down the lineup. In Game 1, Rylan Smith headlined the explosive offensive showing with a home run and six RBIs, while Ethan Hardee added a three-run homer of his own and Preston Huguley drove in three runs in the 20-1 run-rule victory. Braden Martin also set the tone on the mound, allowing just one run while striking out six across four innings. Lee-Scott carried that momentum into Game 2, where Barrett Cook delivered a complete-game effort with nine strikeouts while also homering at the plate. Harrison Snow, Hardee, Smith, and Luke Donaldson all turned in multi-hit performances offensively as the Warriors completed the sweep with another convincing win.


No. 1 Glenwood def. No. 8 The Altamont (14-2, 13-6)

Glenwood left little doubt throughout its Elite 8 series, overpowering Altamont in a two-game sweep to secure a spot in the Final 4. In Game 1, the Gators’ offense exploded early and never slowed down in a 14-2 run-rule victory, with multiple hitters contributing throughout the lineup. Hudson Campbell led the way with three hits, while Sawyer Moss drove in three runs and Asher Long and Kade Cox each added multiple RBIs. Cooper Favors handled the work on the mound, allowing no earned runs across three innings to set the tone early. In Game 2, Glenwood once again used a balanced offensive attack to pull away, highlighted by Cam Dawson’s perfect 3-for-3 performance and another multi-hit game from Cox. Trey Claridy added three RBIs while also contributing key innings in relief, and Hudson Campbell continued his strong series with two more RBIs as the Gators rolled to a 13-6 win to advance.


AHSAA Class 2A

🔥 Series of the Round: No. 2 Mars Hill Bible def. No. 4 Lindsay Lane Christian (0-1, 6-2, 11-6)

No. 5 Red Bay def. No. 7 North Sand Mountain (4-3, 13-5)

Red Bay continued its impressive postseason run with a two-game sweep over North Sand Mountain, showing resilience in a dramatic opener before pulling away in Game 2. In Game 1, the Tigers trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh before rallying for two runs to walk it off, highlighted by Riley Carpenter’s game-tying sacrifice fly and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded that forced in the winning run. Carson McGee was outstanding on the mound, tossing a complete game with nine strikeouts while also contributing offensively with a double and two hits, while Carpenter drove in three runs in the 4-3 win. In Game 2, Red Bay’s offense broke things open behind another complete-game effort, this time from Jeremiah Thorne, who struck out 10 to secure the sweep. Carpenter stayed hot with another three-RBI performance, while Davo Colburn, Ayden Pruitt, and Landyn Lewey all delivered multi-hit games as the Tigers rolled to a 13-5 victory and punched their ticket to the Final 4.


No. 2 Mars Hill Bible def. No. 4 Lindsay Lane Christian (0-1, 6-2, 11-6)

After dropping a tight opener, Mars Hill Bible responded with back-to-back wins to take the series over Lindsay Lane Christian and advance to the Final 4. In Game 2, the Panthers leaned on a dominant outing from Brooks Campbell, who carried a shutout into the seventh inning while striking out nine across 6.1 innings pitched. Noah Hanback picked up the win in relief and also delivered a key RBI triple, while Cody Willis, Malen Moore, and Christian O’Rear all contributed extra-base hits offensively in the 6-2 extra-inning win. In the decisive Game 3, Mars Hill Bible once again answered adversity after trailing 4-2 before erupting for nine runs across the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to completely flip the game. Hanback starred on both sides, tossing three scoreless innings in relief while also collecting three hits and two doubles at the plate. Carsen Wynn added a three-hit performance, Luke Fowler drove in three runs, and Beau Willis and Cody Willis both delivered key extra-base hits as the Panthers pulled away for an 11-6 win to clinch the series.


No. 1 GW Long def. No. 9 Tuscaloosa Academy (6-5, 9-4)

GW Long showed its experience and depth throughout the series, earning a two-game sweep over Tuscaloosa Academy to advance to the Final 4. In Game 1, the Rebels found themselves trailing 5-4 before responding with two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good in a tightly-contested 6-5 win. Ayden Meeks delivered the biggest swing of the game with a go-ahead two-run double, while Lawson German picked up the win on the mound and six different players recorded a hit in a balanced offensive effort. In Game 2, GW Long once again relied on contributions throughout the lineup while Blayne Wood starred on both sides, earning the win on the mound while also finishing with a home run and double at the plate. Lawson German and Bryce Smith added RBIs offensively, while Eben Pritchett delivered key innings out of the bullpen to help secure the sweep and send the Rebels back to the Final 4.


No. 3 Ariton def. Reeltown (5-2, 9-4)

Ariton continued to look every bit like a championship contender, sweeping Reeltown in convincing fashion to earn a trip to the Final 4. In Game 1, the Purple Cats used timely offense and another strong outing on the mound from Easton Kilpatrick to secure a 5-2 win. Kilpatrick worked five innings to earn the victory, while Brodie Lowery, Addison Senn, and Bryson Rhett all contributed key extra-base hits and RBIs offensively. Game 2 was much tighter early on, with the teams tied 4-4 entering the sixth inning before Ariton broke things open with five runs in the frame to pull away. Senn delivered one of the top pitching performances of the round, tossing a complete game with 13 strikeouts while allowing just three hits, and the offense once again came through with timely production from Rhett, Wells Ganey, Pierce Gill, and Kilpatrick to complete the sweep.


AHSAA Class 1A

No. 1 Hubbertville def. Athens Bible (9-5, 7-3)

Hubbertville continued its strong postseason push with a two-game sweep over Athens Bible, using timely offensive bursts in both games to secure a spot in the Final 4. In Game 1, the Lions trailed 3-2 before breaking things open with a seven-run fifth inning that completely shifted the momentum of the series. Blaize Wakefield went the distance on the mound, striking out seven in the complete-game win, while Kane Rushing drove in a pair of runs to help pace the offense in the 9-5 victory. Game 2 followed a similar script, as Hubbertville broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the sixth before adding two more insurance runs in the seventh to complete the sweep. Landon Dodd delivered another complete-game effort, allowing just two runs while also driving in two at the plate, while Braylon Hill, Ceth Hollingsworth, and Carter Brand all contributed key extra-base hits offensively as the Lions advanced with a 7-3 win.


No. 2 Appalachian def. No. 7 Addison (4-2, 11-5)

Appalachian continued to show why it has been one of the most consistent teams in Class 1A this spring, earning a two-game sweep over Addison to move on to the Final 4. In Game 1, the Eagles relied on steady pitching and timely offense, scoring in four consecutive innings to slowly pull away for a 4-2 win. Caleb Conn delivered a complete-game effort on the mound, allowing just two runs across seven innings, while Cole Smith added a pair of hits and Sam Stidham chipped in an extra-base hit offensively. In Game 2, Appalachian found itself trailing 4-3 entering the fifth inning before the offense erupted late, scoring eight runs over the final three innings to break the game open. Smith once again starred on both sides, tossing a complete-game effort while also contributing multiple hits at the plate, while Conner Cassidy delivered a key home run and Stidham drove in two more runs as Appalachian pulled away for the series-clinching win.


University Charter def. Millry (6-9, 10-1, 7-1)

After dropping the opener, University Charter responded like a team built for a deep postseason run, winning the final two games in convincing fashion to punch its ticket to the Final 4. In Game 2, the Yellow Jackets leaned on a dominant performance from Michael Gibson, who tossed a one-hit complete game with 11 strikeouts while also contributing offensively with a double. The lineup exploded behind him, led by Braden Murray’s huge 4-for-5, five-RBI performance, while Landon McClure, Khaleb Reed, and Josiah Dubose all added key extra-base hits and RBIs in the 10-1 win. With the series on the line in Game 3, University Charter once again turned to its pitching and timely offense. Tip Smith delivered a complete-game effort, allowing no earned runs across seven innings, while Murray continued his outstanding series with a three-run triple. Dubose added two hits and two RBIs, and Gibson chipped in another multi-hit performance as the Yellow Jackets closed out the series with a 7-1 win to advance.


No. 4 Fayetteville def. No. 10 Maplesville (7-4, 3-7, 7-5)

Fayetteville continued its impressive postseason run by taking two of three from a talented Maplesville club in a highly-competitive Elite 8 series. In Game 1, the Tigers used power and strong pitching to grab the early edge, as Ethan Jones starred on both sides by striking out 10 across 6.2 innings while also finishing with a home run and double at the plate. Fayetteville’s lineup stayed aggressive throughout, with Brenton Cantrell and Blake McDaniel both homering, while Adan Hernandez added three hits and two RBIs in the 7-4 win. After dropping Game 2, Fayetteville found itself trailing 5-1 entering the sixth inning of the decisive Game 3 before delivering one of the biggest rallies of the weekend. The Tigers scored four runs in the sixth to tie the game before adding two more in the seventh, highlighted by a late home run from Cantrell that helped put the game away. Carter Goins handled the rest on the mound, tossing a complete-game effort while allowing no earned runs, as Fayetteville battled back for a 7-5 win to secure a spot in the Final 4.
