Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. He only allowed three hits and one walk all game, striking out six batters. At the plate, Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati) led Normal in hits on the day, going 3-for-4 with an RBI out of the leadoff spot. Max Heineman drove in two runs, with Josh Jones (2026, Indiana State; 2-for-2, 3B, RBI) and Jacob Engel (2026; 2-for-3, 2B, RBI) each had a multi-hit day with an extra base hit en route to the win.

No. 3 Lincoln-Way East defeated Sandburg by the score of 5-2 to improve to 26-4 of the season. Cooper Johnson (2027; Purdue Commit) and Rocco Triolo (2027) provided the long balls of the contest. Johnson hit a three-run homer to get the scoring started while Triolo hit the two-run shot to increase the deficit. Bryson Das (2026) started four innings and got one punchout and gave up a run, which was enough to earn him the win.

Loyola Academy took down No. 4 Huntley by the score of 21-11. Three hitters led the Ramblers offense with four RBIs each. This includes Bennett Kono (2028), Peter LaFontaine (2026; Milwaukee Area Technical JC Commit), and Sebastian Urbanowski (2027). Kono went 4-for-5 with two singles, a double, two-run homer, and scoring three runs. LaFontaine went 3-for-5 with two singles, a double, and scoring two runs. Sebastian Urbanowski went 2-for-3 with a single, walk, grand slam, and scoring three runs. Another key player was Mark Atwood (2027), who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Anthony Reavy (2026; Milwaukee School of Engineering Commit) had himself a day at the plate by going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs. For Huntley, Drew Borkowski (2026; Heartland CC Commit) knocked in four RBIs on his three-run homer and sacrifice fly. Diego Herrera (2026; Parkland Commit) had a two-homer game for the Red Raiders, hitting a solo shot and a two-run homer.

He also dominated on the mound with a quality start by going six shutout innings and punching out seven to earn the win. Colin Campbell (2027; Louisville Commit) retired all three batters he faced in the seventh inning and recorded the save.

Cannon Madej (2026; Southwestern Illinois JC commit; 2B, R, BB), Zane Schnieder (2027; H, 2 RBI) and Sean Murray (2026; H, RBI, R, BB) led the way for the offense.

Ryan Keener (2026; Illinois-Wesleyan) and Brady Kozlozwski (2026; Findlay) each had a three hit day and homered at the plate. Keener finished the day 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, driving in two runs and scorng twice, while Kozlowski finished the day 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, and three runs scored. Landon Currie (2027) and Evan Jenks (2027) also finished the day with a home run, with Currie also collecting a double in the win.

Both Johnny Weiss (2026; Illinois-Springfield) and Ryan Wolverton (2026) had multi-hit games out of the top of the order. Weiss finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, with Wolverton finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win.
