2026 Iowa High School Team Preview: Murray

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement is building throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Iowa.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Carroll or Cedar Rapids at the IHSAA 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A State Tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

TEAM OUTLOOK

“I took over the Murray program last season with a young team that has a lot of upside. These kids are excited to get better which makes my job easy. We graduated only one starter from last season and we have no seniors on the team this season. We will have several Juniors in the starting lineup that have previous varsity experience that we will look to for getting us where we want to be this season. From top to bottom, all of the guys have been working hard this offseason on improving their skillset. Last season, we were ahead in 6 games where we were not able to hold the lead due to fielding errors. I believe that if we clean things up defensively this season and continue to develop our pitching, we can make big improvements in 2026 and possibly be near the top of the conference ready to make a deeper run in the post season. ” – Nick Gannon, head coach
