The 2026 VA/DC high school season fully and officially kicked off on March 16th. We continue our weekly awards for a couple different areas, including today's featured Team of the Week. Team of the Week will run each and every Tuesday. This story will highlight a team that had a strong week, which usually includes at least one win over a Power 25/quality opponent.
Week 1 Team of the Week: St. Anne's Belfield

Jackson Reed *DCSAA Champion*
It was a strong showing last week as they were crowned DCSAA champions. They had very convincing wins over DC International and Maret as they scored a total of 24 runs in those two games. They would go on to the championship game with St. Albans which was a pitching duel in a 1-0 win. They finished the season on a six game win streak and a 22-8-3 record.

Walsingham Trojans *VISAA DIII Champion*
It was pure domination throughout the week as the Trojans captured their eighth straight VISAA DIII title. The offense dominated pitching staffs as they scored a total of 32 runs in three games. The Trojans pitching staff did a strong job as well, only allowing two runs in those three games. Being dominant on both sides made it an easy path to another state title.

Highland School Hawks *VISAA DII Champion*
The Hawks were on a mission to capture their second straight VISAA DII title. They pushed their way through Virginia Episcopal and Nansemond-Suffolk to get to the title game. They scored double digits in both games for a total of 27 runs. They would meet up with Greenbrier Christian in the championship game and would have some special performances to lead them to a 4-1 win and their second straight VISAA DII title.

Paul VI Panthers *VISAA DI Champion*
The Panthers had some big time performances on their way to capturing the VISAA DI title. The offense rolled in game one of the VISAA tournament as they had fourteen hits in a significant win over Collegiate. Carter Perdue had a big performance on the mound in the semifinals against Bishop O'Connell to push the Panthers to the championship game. The Panthers had some big hits late in the championship game to walk things off in a 7-6 win.
