Last weekend saw the conclusion of the 2026 VISAA Playoffs with the semifinals on Thursday and Friday and Championship Saturday, all played at Shepherd Stadium in Chesterfield. See recaps and video highlights of Friday's Division I and Division II semifinals below. Look for a similar recap of Championship Saturday later this week.

VISAA II Semifinals

#11 Greenbrier Chrisitan 7, Covenant School 6

The Gators jumped out to a two run lead through the first two innings courtesy of Blake Thomas single and a Connor Isenberg fielder’s choice. Covenant answered with five runs in the top of the third. Will Park, Hudson Reese (Dickinson), Latham Clark, and Jonathan Albert all recorded hits during the third inning. GCA answered four runs of their own in the bottom half when Blake Thomas and Cam Kaliher came up with big hits. Will Park singled again in the fourth to tie it up again, but GCA would take the lead back on a Blake Thomas sac fly and that would be all of the run support that Brady Drew would need. Drew worked 6.2 innings before handing it over to Ryan Watson (George Mason) for the save.

#24 Highland School 11, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 6

It didn’t take long for the excitement to kick in on this one. After walking the bases loaded, the Hawks turned a triple play to escape any damage in the first. Highland then jumped out early with a five run first inning with three singles. They took advantage of some walks and miscues from NSA, and the miscues part was a common theme in some big spots for the Saints on the day. Joseph Petry (Paul D. Camp CC) hit a bases clearing double in the second to make it a two run game, but NSA would never get within striking distance the rest of the game. Highland combined for 12 hits, 4 walks, and brought 37 total hitters to the plate over the course of six offensive innings. That is just over six hitters per inning, a tough number to compete against when you are trying to win a game. Jake Gunning (William & Mary) was 2-4 with a homerun and two RBI.

VISAA I Semifinals

#3 St. Anne's-Belfield 9, #2 Miller School 3

This one was over early, with the Saints jumping out to a commanding 7-0 lead after two innings of play. STAB had six hits alone in the second inning, where they scored six runs. Daniel Gray had a two RBI double and then two hitters later Oscar Hickey (Willaim & Mary) cleared the bases with a three run blast. In the fifth inning, while leading 7-0, STAB got back to back homeruns from Brooks Fox and Ryan Steeper (Washington & Lee) to go up 9-0. That score would hold until Miller School attempted to make a late comeback that was a little too late. STAB had 10 hits, including the aforementioned three homeruns. While Waylon Ammons (Richmond) saw some traffic on the bases, he made plenty of big pitches to escape any damage. He threw six shutout innings and struck out six while walking four.

#5 St. Paul VI 5, #6 Bishop O'Connell 0

Carter Perdue (East Carolina) was the star of the show on Friday night, throwing a seven strikeout complete game shutout. He made big pitch after big pitch and never shied away from the moment. While Perdue handled things on the mound, Owen Peltier (VMI), Thomas Jewett (Radford), and Ryan Bahr all had multi hit games. Peltier got the scoring started for PVI in the first when he hit a leadoff homerun. Bryant James (Virginia) was the lone offensive standout for O’Connell that night, going 2-4 and was on barrel nearly every swing and every at bat.
