WIAA Power 25 Update
May 18, 2026
Today, for the fourth time this spring, we’re updating the Prep Baseball Wisconsin Power 25 Rankings. This was an eventful week which made for some volatility up and down the rankings, as two teams exited the top-25 which made way for two new teams to climb into the Power 25 for the first time this season, led by new No. 17 Neenah.
WIAA HEADLINES
Let’s break down the movement inside our latest Power 25 update of 2026.
NEW LOOK TOP-5
Winners of 11 straight games, No. 1 Muskego reclaims the top spot as they’re also in the midst of a stretch in which they’ve outscored their opponents 69-1 in their last six games, and they're in the middle of an 18-inning scoreless streak too. The offense has really turned it on lately, led by senior C Maddux Lessard (2026; Minnesota) who swatted three home runs this past week.

No. 2 Germantown remains undefeated heading into the second half of May, and have already clinched their conference title. The sophomore-heavy pitching staff has really shined late, going out for out with some of the top arms in the state while the offense remains a steady and well-balanced lineup. No. 3 Kimberly continues to churn through a tough conference slate, dropping a competitive non-conference matchup late last week against De Pere, 6-5. Papermakers freshman SS Beckett Hermus (2029) has been a sparkplug since being inserted into the top of the lineup collecting five hits while driving in six runs and playing while looking like a strong defender at shortstop. LHP Bryce Mischler (Kimberly, 2026; Heartland JC) has been a part of one of the best starting pitching duos in the state, most recently authoring a stellar outing against Appleton North.

No. 4 Bay Port hasn’t lost in nearly a month and has run away with the Fox River Classic sitting at 15-0 with only a few games left to play. They technically moved down a spot inside this update but that came through some hectic turnover up the board, through no fault of their own. No. 5 Hudson lost a close game to Big Rivers rivals River Falls, 2-0, so they slipped a few spots but they still look like top contenders to reach state representing the western half of Wisconsin.
TIGHT CONFERENCE RACES
Perhaps the strongest conference in the WIAA this spring, the Fox Valley Association is a bloodbath this year with six of its 10 teams having been ranked on the Power 25 at some point this season, including four currently ranked inside the top-15 overall: No. 3 Kimberly, No. 7 Hortonville, No. 13 Kaukauna, and No. 15 Neenah. Another big week of conference games with a number of Power 25 matchups yet to take place this spring.
The Big Eight once again is one of the top conferences in the state, it's a competitive and tight year with a number of teams still in play for a share at the conference title. No. 16 Verona Area and No. 17 Sun Prairie East are each coming off two losses and have a tough slate of conference games left with No. 22 Madison Memorial currently holding a slim lead in the Big Eight standings. Senior CF Ezra Liggon (Bradley) has been on a tear for the Spartans after getting a late start on the spring, already collecting six extra-base hits in just nine games including three home runs as he’s providing a spark late in the year inside the lineup.

It’s another strong year in the Woodland West with three of the top Division-2 teams positioning themselves at the top of the conference. No. 9 Wisconsin Lutheran has been putting up a lot of runs all spring, the growth from their sophomore arms on the pitching staff has added a layer of depth on the mound that prior Vikings squads were missing in years past. LHP Colton Meier (2028) has emerged as a left-handed starter that has been filling up the zone this spring. No. 12 Pewaukee have won 12 straight games and have been one of the surprises of the spring with such a young, yet very talented roster. Junior SS Cayden Burtness continues to be an impact piece for the Pirates racking up eight hits for the week and a picked up win in relief on the mound. Also in the same conference, No. 20. New Berlin Eisenhower still has a chance at a share of the conference title, RHP Max Nemoir (2027) has been nails for them on the mound as both a starter and reliever of late, picking up the win most recently in a start against New Berlin West and adds to the amount of quality arms on staff for the Lions. And Ike’s OF Alex Michna (2027) was our most recent Player of the Week.

NEWCOMERS
+ No. 21 De Pere (15-6): After a 5-5 start in April, the Redbirds have really turned it on since the beginning of the month, going 10-1 in May so far with a number of quality wins that add their resume. It's a well-balanced group with with a few contributing sophomores and a number of experienced juniors and seniors leading the way. This program is accustomed to winning, obviously, and it took a little while for a brand-new group to gel, but they’re clearly gelling now and they’ll be one of the last teams you want to face in the postseason.
+ No. 23 Kiel (15-0): The D2 Raiders are 15-0 on the year and will end off the year with a two gamer series against conference rival Brillion for what will be for the conference championship. The lineup is led by seniors RHP/INF Colton Schaefer and UTL/RHP Caden Milbrath who are both hitting over .450 on the year while Schaefer also operates as one of the teams top arms, striking out 70 batters across 34 innings.
+ No. 25 Kewaskum (14-6): We picked Kewaskum to be one of the top teams in Division 2 at the start of the spring, ranked No. 20 on our preseason board. They got off to a rocky start, but they’ve rebounded nicely in the month of May. They’ve won eight of their last nine games, helped along by sophomore CF Levi Whitfield (2028) who has a 1.367 OPS this month with a double and two home runs, as well as 14 RBIs. Junior LHP Cole Loser (2027) has 20 Ks in 16 innings pitched this month with a 0.86 ERA.
