+ West Union (8) vs. Taylorsville (3)
West Union rode a dominant performance from Jon Grey Morrisson to an 8-3 win over Taylorsville on Wednesday at Trustmark Park, as the right-hander struck out 10 across a complete-game effort. Morrisson allowed just five hits and three runs over seven innings while also making an impact offensively, launching a game-tying two-run homer to left field in the third inning after Taylorsville had grabbed an early lead on a two-run single from Terry Barnes in the second. West Union continued to chip away offensively, tying the game in the fourth on an RBI single from Luke Conlee before taking control in the fifth behind an RBI knock from Mack Wallis and a Taylorsville error that pushed the lead to 5-3. Conlee provided a big boost from the bottom half of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Morrison’s ability to control the game on the mound helped West Union pull away late. Taylorsville scattered five hits in the loss, with Barnes and Easton Ford each driving in runs, but the Eagles’ combination of timely offense and Morrison’s complete-game performance proved to be the difference.
