Manager, Content & Operations/Scout

Each week, IHSA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week honors. Yesterday, we awarded the Week 9 Player of the Week honor to SS Ethan Bass (Glenbrook North, 2026; Wake Forest) and the Co-Pitcher of the Week honor to RHPs Anderson Kaufmann (Alton, 2028) and RHP Logan Hickman (Alton, 2026; John A. Logan JC). Bass went 7-for-14 with a double, four home runs, 10 RBIs, nine runs scored and four stolen bases. He also tied the single season home run record at Glenbrook North with eleven home runs so far in his senior season, tying former Major Leaguer Jason Kipnis from the 2005 season. The Alton right-handed duo of Kaufmann and Hickman was near unhittable last week. The duo led the Redbirds to consecutive wins over Belleville East in 5-0 and 4-0 victories this past week. Combining for 11 innings, one hit, zero runs, three walks, and 22 strikeouts.

There were a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable.
