Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 2 Normal Community defeated No. 4 Huntley 7-6 with a dramatic come-from-behind victory. Entering the bottom half of the seventh, the Ironmen were trailing 6-2. They got runners on with no outs. Max Heineman (2026; UIC Commit) knocked in the first run of the inning on his RBI single. Then, Drew Stevens (2026; Valparaiso Commit), who represented the tying run at the plate, hits a game-tying three-run home run on an 0-2 pitch. Three batters later with a man on base, Andrew Naour (2026) hits the walk-off RBI double to win an Illinois top 5 matchup and improve to 32-2 of the season. Some highlights from Huntley include home runs by Drew Borkowski (2026; heartland CC Commit) and Aiden Eickelmann. Borkowski hit the three-run homer to give the Red Raiders the lead in the fourth inning while Eickelmann hit a solo shot to extend the Red Raiders lead to four at the time.

No. 7 Triad defeated No. 22 Edwardsville 4-2 in an Illinois Power 25 matchup. RBI knocks came from four batters for the Knights. Brody Hasquin (2027) got the scoring started in the first inning with his RBI double. RBI singles came from Nathan Klucker (2027) and Kannon Seipp (2027; Jefferson JC Commit) in the fifth and sixth inning respectively. In the seventh inning, Auggie Bugger pushed across an insurance run with an RBI groundout. On the mound, Nolan Keller (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) tossed a complete game with six punchouts and three hits, a walk, and two runs allowed. This victory improved the Knights seasonal record to 30-5. For Edwardsville, their key player was Hunter Baugh (2026; Lindenwood Commit), who threw three relief innings and got five strikeouts on the mound while only giving up a hit, walk, and a run. He also hit a two-run home run as the only offense of the game for the Tigers.

No. 10 Lemont defeated Homewood-Flossmoor by the score of 2-1 to improve to 29-4 of the season. Zane Schneider (2027) provided the only offense, which came in the fifth inning. He hit a game-tying RBI double, and then scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball. Cannon Madej (2026; Southwestern Illinois JC Commit) took the mound and tossed a complete game and struck out 15 batters of the game.

No. 11 St. Joseph-Ogden shutout Mattoon by the score of 2-0 to improve to 33-2 of the season. Bryson Houchens (2026; Morton JC Commit) went 2-for-3 at the plate and knocked in a two-RBI single that proved to be the game winner. Asher Pruemer (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) took the mound and tossed six scoreless frames with seven punchouts to earn the win in his quality start. Finn Miller (2027) pitched the seventh inning and recorded the save as he struck out two of the three batters he faced.

No. 13 McHenry defeated South Elgin by the score of 7-1 to improve to 27-7-1 of the season. Carver Cohn (2028) knocked in two RBIs on his sacrifice fly and RBI single. Garet Lobbins (2027) hit a two-RBI single to lead the offense as well. Carter Thornton (2027) also hit an RBI single. Kaden Wasniewski (2027; LSU Commit) drew a based-loaded walk to knock in his RBI of the game. All this offense came in the first three innings of the game. Scotty Cole (2026; McHenry County JC Commit) took the mound and pitched a quality start by going six innings with four punchouts and an earned run allowed. That was enough to earn him the win.

Sacred Heart-Griffin took down No. 15 Marquette by the score of 6-4. The Cyclones offense was led by Austin Rutter (2027), who went 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI single, and an RBI groundout. Solo home runs came from Drew Ward (2026; Illinois Wesleyan Commit) and Ty Springer (2026; Lincoln Land CC Commit). Ward had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a lead-off home run, double, single, walk, stolen base, and two runs scored. Jack Johannes had the better day on the mound for the Cyclones as he tossed three relief innings and only allowed one baserunner to secure the nine-out save.

No. 20 Lincoln-Way West defeated No. 21 Willowbrook 4-1. Jackson Heinlen (2027) earned the win on the mound, tossing four innings of shutout ball, allowing just three hits. Emmett Carlson (2027) then followed out of the 'pen, tossing a socreless inning with Owen Chudzinski (2027) coming on for the final two frames for the Warriors, allowing no hits, one unearned run, two walks, while punching out one. On offense, Michael Pettit (2026; Notre Dame), Jackson Mansker (2026; Indianapolis), Peyton Globke (2026), Luke Stoner (2028), and Owen Weber (2026) all recorded hits in the win.

No. 24 Waterloo held on in the seventh to win against Belleville West by a score of 5-4. Waterloo’s Cannon Richard (2027) delivered five and a third innings, striking out three while holding Belleville West to just one run. Austin Martin (2027) paced the Bulldog offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run in the sixth inning. That three-run shot would put Waterloo up 4-1. The pitching staff was rounded out by Waylon Glaenzer (2028) and Carter Jones (2028), who combined to give up zero earned runs in relief. Adam Bilzing (2026) led the Belleville West offense with a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

The bottom of the lineup helped Normal West Varsity Wildcats capture an 11-2 victory over Southeast Varsity Spartans on Friday at McKinley Field Champaign, IL. Drake Rumps, Calen Riter, and Jasper Pomis combined for five of the team's 10 hits in the victory. Between them, they scored four runs and drove in six. Rumps collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Rumps tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. Southeast Varsity Spartans opened the scoring in the first after Austin Dunphy grounded out, scoring one run. Normal West Varsity Wildcats (21-13) captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first when Kipton Trout singled, scoring one run, Pomis singled, scoring two runs, and Rumps doubled, scoring one run. Normal West Varsity Wildcats added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Rumps singled to center field, Riter singled to center field, Landon Stelte grounded into a fielder's choice, and Tanner Nolin singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Nolin earned his 4th win without a loss for Normal West Varsity Wildcats. The starter gave up two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Will Trojahn took the loss for Southeast Varsity Spartans. The starter went three and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, striking out four and walking four. Senior Beckett Price pitched one inning of no-run ball for Normal West Varsity Wildcats in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Normal West Varsity Wildcats accumulated 10 hits in the game. Nolin and Charlie Hanks each collected multiple hits for Normal West Varsity Wildcats. Pomis paced Normal West Varsity Wildcats with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Riter, Hanks, and Pomis each stole multiple bases for Normal West Varsity Wildcats. Normal West Varsity Wildcats ran wild on the base paths, amassing 12 stolen bases for the game breaking its season stolen base record eclipsing the 2024 mark of 166 with now 175 on the season.
