2026 FL Preseason Classic & Open: Day 5 Recap

The 2026 Florida Preseason Classic and Preseason Open will take place February 3-7 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. Both events feature ten teams from around the state of Florida kicking off their 2026 high school season with two Preseason games.
Preseason Classic - Day 5 Recap
IMG National 10, True North 0
The IMG Academy National team dominated with a massive third-inning outburst, cruising to a 10-0 shutout victory over True North on Saturday at the Preseason Classic.
The Ascenders erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third to blow the game open early. The rally featured RBI singles from Frankie Thomas and Sebastian Wilson, a hit-by-pitch that drove in a run, and a clutch three-run double from Dylan Messina to cap the big inning and push the lead to a commanding margin.

IMG Academy's pitching was equally impressive. Mason Montjoy got the start and delivered three strong innings, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out two and walking one. Henry Britt followed with two scoreless innings of relief, giving up two hits with no strikeouts and two walks to help preserve the shutout.
Offensively, Dylan Messina stood out with three RBIs. Frankie Thomas paced the lineup with a 2-for-3 effort to lead in hits.

True North managed four scattered hits from Evan Alexander, Jayden Cedeno, Matias Fischer, and Kash Ojeda, but couldn't generate any sustained offense against IMG's arms. Carlos Victorero took the start for True North, allowing three hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts and two walks.
Jesuit 13, Lincoln 0
The Jesuit Tigers delivered a commanding all-around performance, blanking Lincoln 13-0 on Saturday behind dominant pitching and a relentless offensive attack.
Jesuit opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Samir Mohammed singled to drive in the game's first run for an early 1-0 lead. They built on that momentum in the top of the third, adding three more runs.

Hudson Rivera followed with an RBI single, and Brady Marshall capped the inning with a two-run single to push the advantage to 4-0.

The Tigers then exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Nico Perez started the rally with a run-scoring single. Ben Burke delivered a two-run single, Griffin Boesen added a two-run single of his own, and Jackson Menendez closed the frame with a two-run single.
On the mound, Wilson Andersen earned the win with two shutout innings, allowing no hits, striking out four, and walking three.

Kaden Waechter followed with two perfect innings of relief, fanning four more without issuing a walk or surrendering a hit.

Lincoln starter Chase Fuller allowed one hit and no runs over two-thirds of an inning with two strikeouts and one walk.
Preseason Open - Day 5 Recap
IMG Gray 10, Archbishop McCarthy 0
IMG Academy Gray put on a dominant display, cruising to a convincing 10-0 shutout victory over Archbishop McCarthy on Saturday at the Preseason Open.
The Ascenders wasted little time asserting control, jumping ahead in the bottom of the first inning when Rondy Bryant launched a home run to left field to put his team on the board early. They continued the momentum in the second, adding two more runs on Owen Armstead's sacrifice fly and a double from Quincy Kerr that drove in another.

The third inning brought another pair as JD Westveld crushed a home run to left field, followed by Noah Kranz's sacrifice fly to extend the lead further. The Gray squad piled on additional runs later to reach the final 10-0 margin.

Josh Riordan was outstanding on the mound for IMG Gray, tossing a complete-game shutout over five innings. He allowed just two hits, struck out three, and walked none to earn the win and anchor the dominant pitching performance.
Offensively, Rondy Bryant powered the middle of the lineup with two RBIs, highlighted by his first-inning homer.
IMG Black 11, Foundation Academy 1
IMG Academy Black unleashed a powerful offensive display, highlighted by Brennan Prendergast's five-RBI performance, to cruise past Foundation Academy 11-1 on Saturday.
Prendergast was the star of the show, driving in five runs on just two hits. He delivered the big blow in the bottom of the first with a three-run home run to left field, then followed up in the second by tripling to center field for another RBI.

The Ascenders wasted no time building a commanding lead. In the bottom of the first, Connor Scheich tripled to drive in the opening runbefore Prendergast's homer pushed the score to 5-0. They added three more in the second on a double to center from Yonghoon Lee, a double by Johnson DuBose, and Prendergast's RBI triple. Scheich tacked on one more in the third with a single up the middle, capping an early onslaught that set the tone.

Kane Garcia earned the win in relief for IMG Academy Black, tossing three innings while allowing two hits and one run with four strikeouts and two walks. Noah Milburn provided a strong start, blanking Foundation over one inning with three strikeouts and no walks. Tyler Shindo and Chino Santana each added scoreless relief innings to seal the shutout effort through most of the game.
Offensively, the Ascenders racked up 11 hits overall. Scheich led the way with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Lee contributed two hits in three at-bats.
Foundation Academy managed limited production against the strong IMG pitching. Francisco Rodriguez stood out with a 2-for-2 day and one RBI, while Charlie Cappozzoli paced the Lions with three hits in three at-bats.
