The 2026 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Los Osos heads into 2026 riding the momentum of a 20–9 campaign and a CIF Southern Section Division 1 Playoff appearance, and head coach Travis Kelly’s group looks primed for another strong run behind what may be one of the deeper pitching staffs in the region. With six returning arms and a roster built on speed and athleticism, the Grizzlies expect to pressure opponents in multiple ways. California Baptist commit RHP Gavin Loeb Keene (2026) returns as the ace of the staff after a standout 2025, while Cal Poly-Pomona commit RHP Kyle Humphrey (2026) adds a high-upside power arm to the rotation. Menlo College commit LHP Aedan Holloway (2026) continues to trend upward and figures to be a staple on the mound, and Citrus College commit RHP Camden Ullah (2026) brings valuable high-leverage experience out of the bullpen. Cal Poly-Pomona commit OF/RHP Presten Young (2026) and RHP/3B Jordan Mejico (2026) further bolster a staff that combines depth, experience, and frontline talent.

Offensively, Los Osos features a balanced mix of proven seniors and emerging underclassmen. Team captain and St. Mary’s commit 3B/RHP Wyatt Mohler (2026) anchors the lineup and defense at third base, while Hope International University commit 1B/DH Moses Lanza (2026) looks to provide middle-of-the-order pop. Northwest Nazarene commit and transfer OF Dominic Rodriguez (2026) adds a true center field presence with speed and raw power, and 2B Aaron Ziello (2026) returns healthy and poised to be a key contributor after working back from injury. Behind the plate, C Sean Brian (2027) brings leadership and advanced baseball IQ.

Depth remains a major strength across the roster, with versatile contributors like RHP/OF Avery Cube (2027), 1B/DH/RHP Ryan Kelly (2027), and INF James Kennedy (2027) adding both offensive and pitching upside, plus young infielders INF Taylor Chairez (2029) and INF Gavin Carcelen (2029) providing a glimpse into the program’s future. With four returning starters, six returning pitchers, and a core defined by athleticism and competitive edge, the Grizzlies enter 2026 expecting to build on last year’s success. If the pitching staff performs to its potential and the offense capitalizes on its speed and depth, Los Osos has the pieces to make serious noise this spring.
