The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Top Returners:

• Alex Scheele (2026) -1B/P, 6’1”, 230, R/R
  • 2025 KABC 1st Team All State 3rd baseman, 2025 1st Team NCKL (IF)
  • .415/.467/.573, 9 2B, 2 3B, 31 RBI.
  • 3-year starter. Will look to move back to his natural position for us this year (1B). May see some time on the mound if command improves. Will anchor our lineup again.
• Grant Haefele (2026) - CF, 6’, 180, R/R
  • 2025 KABC 2nd Team All State OF, 2025 HM NCKL OF
  • .324/.433/.473, 7 2B, 2 3B, 25 R, 22 SB.
  • 3-year starter. Great speed and athleticism. Incredible leader. Elected captain of Football and Basketball teams. He will look to set the table at the top of our line up.
• Ty Moser (2026) - RF, 6’, 180, R/R
  • 2025 KABC HM All State OF, 2025 1st Team NCKL (OF)
  • .405/.506/.554, 9 2B, 1 3B.
  • 3-year starter in RF since game 1 of his freshman year. Will be a consistent bat in the heart of our line up. Could see some innings on the mound as well.
• Ty Hagar (2027) - MIF, 5’10”, 160, R/R
  • .329/.437/.356
  • 2-year starter. Can play either MIF position. Will probably be asked to pitch some for us as well.
• Grady Schroedl (2027) - C, 5’10”, 160, R/R
  • 2025 HM NCKL (C)
  • .311/.462/.377
  • Caught every inning as a Freshman. Took over the Varsity QB position as a Sophomore. I believe his bat will improve and his ability to control the run game is something we have been lacking.
• JT Becker (2027) - MIF, 5’8”, 150, R/R
  • 2025 HM NCKL (IF)
  • .398/.490/.458, 33 H, 32 R, 24 SB
  • Started every game as a Freshman at 2B. Can play either MIF position. Has experience pitching and will likely be called upon to provide innings this year.
    

Top Newcomers:

• Wyatt Miller (2029) - P
  • Tall athletic RHP with good velocity. Has a very high ceiling on the mound. The more he is able to contribute on the mound for us this year, the better our team will be.
• Keagan Warders (2026) - UTL, 5’10”, 155
  • Played his SO year and was the starting SS on the team that qualified for the 3A State Tournament in 2024. Ran track his FR and JR years. Planning to return to the diamond for his SR year.

Coach’s Insight: “Our strengths will be our senior leadership and experience. 3 of our seniors have played every inning since they were freshmen. We will have a number of players available with varsity experience. Our hitting and defense will be our strength. We still need to improve our consistency on the mound.
