Ian Smith
Assistant Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Despite a sub .500 record last season, the Bears made the GHSA Playoffs for the 11th consecutive season while growing together as a young team. Coach Johnson now enters 2026 with immense experience across the board led by one of the region’s top returning pitchers. Over 20 upperclassmen on the roster this year for the Bears including seniors across the outfield in OF Brady Clark, OF Jackson Resnick and one of the team leaders in OF Sean Forbes, who’s athleticism and speed play a big role in the top half of the lineup and while roaming CF at a high-level. Junior RHP/SS Andrew Brech showed star potential last spring posting a ridiculous 0.36 ERA across a 9-0 record while being one of the top bats at a premium defensive positions as well. The Georgia Tech commit will be one of the biggest two-way factors alongside senior RHP/3B Trevor Waite, who will make for a formidable duo in the rotation as well as the left-side of the infield. Look for juniors MIF Parker Lee and MIF Joey Storey to find roles in the infield as well as junior 1B/RHP Jameson Jones, who could emerge as a much needed power bat for the Bears this spring. Senior C Grayson Weed returns to give familiarity behind the plate with even more depth to a deep lineup. There’s experience in a very upperclass heavy bullpen that will give Coach Johnson peace of mind heading into region play. This group has grown together and shown they can compete with the best teams in Gwinnett, look for the Bears to have a chance to put it all together in 2026.
