The 2026 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Madison Warhawks head into 2026 with plenty of confidence after a strong 22–8 finish and a CIF San Diego Section Division 2 Playoff appearance a year ago. Head coach Robert Lovato brings back an experienced, battle-tested roster. With 18 returning starters, including 10 pitchers, back in the mix, Madison’s biggest strengths—pitching, hitting, and defense—should again be on full display. That continuity gives the Warhawks a chance to be one of the more complete teams in their area, combining depth on the mound with a lineup that can apply pressure from top to bottom.

Leading the uncommitted returners is RHP/INF Jorge Luque (2026), last year’s Conference Player of the Year, who will look to make an impact on the mound and in the box. He’s joined by fellow senior INF Tyler Villegas (2026) and a talented junior class that includes OF Landis Nguyen (2027), 3B William Barden (2027), DH Harrison Brown (2027), OF Easton Ochoa (2027), and C/RHP Charlie Kroning (2027), giving Madison versatility and balance throughout the lineup. The Warhawks also benefit from quality depth among underclassmen, with OF Keith Clark (2028), RHP/OF Andrew Rozsnyoi (2028), and RHP Connor Trowbridge (2028).

On the committed side, Madison features RHP Jeremiah Jennings (2026) headed to UC Santa Barbara, LHP Colin Gallagher (2026) bound for Cal State San Marcos, and 1B Leo Wilderman (2026) committed to Northwest Nazarene, providing leadership and high-level experience throughout the roster. With proven arms, a deep offensive group, and strong defensive foundations, the Warhawks enter 2026 positioned to build on last season’s success and make a serious push for another big year.
