Bc Preseason Invitational: Quick Hits (Underclass)
February 20, 2026
On Monday, February 16th, the Prep Baseball BC staff hosted the first annual British Columbia Preseason Invitational.
This invite only event featured roughly 55 prospects in the 2026 - 2030 classes and it was another strong group that featured some of the top players in their respective classes and provided some strong leaderboards on both the positional side and the pitching side. This event, alongside Preseason Events across the country, serve as qualifiers for roster spots on Prep Baseball Canada National Team's at events such as the Future Games, Senior Future Games, West Coast Games, West Coast Super Sophomore Games and the Best of the West.
All player ran through a full workout that included batting practice and bullpens captured on TrackMan, as well as 30-yard sprints captured by VALD Performance. Over the next several days we'll be highlighting top performers from the event within our post-event analysis. Stay locked into our social media channels over the next several days as we continue to push out video, leaderboards and more.
Today, we will continue our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits article as we provide scouting notes and video on five underclassmen who caught our staff's attention.

Ethan Gray RHP / OF / Lord Tweedsmuir, BC / 2028Coming into the event, we highlighted Gray as a player to watch on the mound, however it was his offensive performance that turned heads at the barn. Gray started his day by running a 1.71/3.96 10/30 yard sprint, with both splits good for 3rd among his peers in the class of 2028. The Blaze two-way then proceeded to show off the arm strength that has made him so notable with a 94 mph outfield velo, tying him with two seniors for the event lead. The twitch and strength continued to show up during batting practice with some loud metrics. Gray posted a max exit velocity of 96.4 while averaging 89.6 throughout his two rounds. There was significant carry to his batted balls with a max distance of 331 ft. This was by far the strongest showing we've seen from Gray on the positional side, and he is a player our staff will be keeping close eyes on heading into the summer.

Cole Hudie SS / RHP / Delta Secondary School, BC / 2028Hudie had one of the stronger underclass performances and asserted himself as a player to know in the BC 2028 class. The Delta product displays a smooth, low effort delivery with a clean & compact arm action. Hudie sat 83-84 on his fastball, topping out at 84.9 mph, with an impressive 20.2” of IVB and spin efficiency of 99%. The curveball has the makings of a swing and miss offering with 2-plane break and an average spin rate of 2322. A 2-way player by trade, Hudie produced a max exit velocity of 89.1 mph in the box with fluid, athletic actions on the infield. At 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, there is plenty of projection left in the profile, and our staff looks forward to following Hudie throughout the remainder of his prep career.

Eli Brookshaw LHP / 1B / Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, BC / 2029This was our staff’s first look at Brookshaw since his outing at the West Coast Super Sophomore Games in Oregon and he continued to show the upside that makes him one of the more exciting players in the class. While the velocity hasn’t taken a big jump quite yet, still sitting 78-81, it’s easy to see more coming down the line. There are quality underlying metrics on the fastball as well, with an average 16.6” of IVB and -15.5” of HM. The curveball has plenty of depth (average -11.1 IVB) and the changeup profiles as a quality third pitch with a 5-8 mph velocity separation and average -16.4” of HM. While his future is likely on the mound, the Tritons product flashed additional upside in the box with a peak exit velocity of 87.4 mph and a sweet spot rate of 60%. Checking in at a wiry 6-foot-1,170-pounds with plenty of maturation still to come, Brookshaw has the makings of a high level arm that we are excited to follow in the coming years.

Brayden Wilson RHP / 3B / Langley Secondary School, BC / 2028This was our staff’s first look at Wilson, and we walked away excited about the young 2-way from the Blaze system. Wilson looks the part, checking in at a strong 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. He hit the ball on a line at a 50% clip while using all fields and peaking at a 92.1 mph exit velocity. It’s easy to project that number rising with additional strength and refinement. On the mound, It’s a clean, moderate effort delivery with a high ¾ release point. Wilson showed a feel for spin with both his fastball and curveball reaching 2400 rpm’s. Barely 15 years old and also eligible as a 2029, Wilson will be one to watch as he continues to develop with the Blaze.
