The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Tri-County Academy enters 2026 riding the momentum of a 28–6 campaign that culminated in a MAIS 3A state championship. Under head coach RJ Barrett, the Rebels bring back a strong core of two-way contributors and impact bats, positioning them once again as a team to watch in District 2.

The offense is led by a versatile group highlighted by Crews Albritton (2027), an athletic outfielder who also gives Tri-County valuable innings on the mound. Luke Power (2026) returns as a middle-of-the-order presence at first base while anchoring the pitching staff, and catcher Sawyer Pettit (2027) provides leadership behind the plate. The Rebels also feature a pair of talented underclass infield arms in Grayson Rymer (2028), who handles shortstop while contributing on the mound, and Cade Hunt (2028), a young right-hander who already factors into both the lineup and rotation.

On the pitching side, Tri-County’s depth stands out. Power, Rymer, Hunt, and Albritton form a multi-armed core capable of handling a heavy workload, giving the Rebels flexibility throughout the week and into postseason play. That four-man group supplies a mix of power and athleticism, allowing Barrett to match up effectively against different lineups.

Additional returning contributors in the 2026 class include Peyton Patridge (OF/P), Brian Bergeron (DH), and Hayden Hunt (OF), all of whom add offensive depth and lineup options as the Rebels look to replace graduated production.

Tri-County also welcomes impact underclassman Luke Moberly, an OF/P who adds another athletic two-way piece to an already versatile roster.

With championship experience, multiple arms, and a lineup built around athletic defenders who can also pitch, Tri-County Academy enters 2026 with the pieces in place to defend its title. If the Rebels continue to develop their young core while maintaining consistency on the mound, they’ll be firmly in the mix for another deep postseason run.
