2026 Saltillo Tigers Team Preview

Prep Baseball Mississippi Staff

The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Fresh off a 26–5 season that ended with a 6A state championship, Saltillo enters the spring in reload mode under head coach Eric Reynolds, with a younger roster but no shortage of upside throughout the program.

The Tigers return just one positional starter in infielder Levin Darsey (2026), who becomes a key piece as Saltillo reworks the everyday lineup. While the offense will feature several new faces, Darsey’s experience provides a stabilizing presence in the infield as roles continue to take shape early in the season.

On the mound, Saltillo brings back a more experienced core. Korbin Sheffield (2026) and Cody Carnathan (2026) headline the returning arms, joined by Will Goodson (2026, Itawamba CC), who adds depth and reliability to the staff. Underclassman Lanston Kent (2028) also factors into the pitching mix, giving the Tigers a young arm with room to grow.

Behind the scenes, the next wave is already forming. Jase Pee (2026, Mississippi Delta CC) adds a strong catcher/arm combination, while the 2027 class features several names to watch, including Logan Heisel (2027, East Central CC), Ejay Rogers (2027), Cameron Rodgers (2027), Madden McKissick (2027), and Tucker Phillips (2027), all of whom could carve out meaningful roles as the season unfolds.

The underclass group, Alex Orman, Lanston Kent, and Luke Reynolds, all from the 2028 class adds even more long-term upside to the roster.

While Saltillo replaces a large portion of its championship lineup, the returning pitching depth and influx of young talent set the stage for another competitive run. If the new pieces settle in quickly, the Tigers have the foundation to remain a factor in North 1–6A and defend their title.
