La Mirada Preseason All-State: Outfielder Analysis

On January 3rd, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the La Mirada Preseason All-State at La Mirada High School in La Mirada, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-2029), and gave our staff an ample look at the state's top prospects.

Today, we will we’re taking a look at all of the outfielders from the event, with a Top-10 ranking from the day:

TOP-10 OUTFIELDERS

1. Aidan Young, Villa Park (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/C Versatile defender with impact potential and arm strength that plays at multiple positions.
Body: 5-8.7, 184-pounds. Thick lower half and present physicality; built for strength-based production.
Hit: RHH. Grounded stance with a controlled rhythm in the box. Hands work efficiently through the load with minimal wasted movement, allowing him to get on plane early. Shows quickness in the hands and strong rotational intent through contact, producing frequent hard line drives. Swing path stays compact with natural lift, giving him the ability to drive the baseball to the pull side while still using the middle of the field. 68.7 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 98 mph max exit velocity (87.7 avg.); 221-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. OF - 80 mph. Shows above-average arm strength with a quick, compact release. Throws carry well from the outfield and stay accurate to the bag from behind the plate. Arm talent projects to play in both roles.
Defense: 1.95-2.07 pop time range; C: Athletic receiver with quick, efficient footwork out of the crouch. Transfers are clean and direct, allowing him to get rid of the ball quickly with maintained direction toward second base. OF: Aggressive mover with confident routes to the ball and momentum through the catch.
Athletic Testing: 6.96 runner in the 60-yard dash; 26.90-inch max vertical jump.
