+ PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN vs. SOUTH JONES

Presbyterian Christian held off a late push to secure a 5-3 win over South Jones on Thursday. The Bobcats built an early lead, highlighted by Alston’s solo home run in the third, and got a dominant start from Flynt, who struck out nine over five hitless innings to earn the win. South Jones cut into the deficit with a solo homer from Butler in the sixth, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Hataway drove in two runs to lead Presbyterian Christian at the plate, while both teams played clean defense without committing an error. The Bobcats return to action Tuesday against Pass Christian.

+ HERNANDO VS. NORTHWEST RANKIN

Northwest Rankin picked up a 12-7 win over Hernando on Thursday, using a big fifth inning to pull away. After early back-and-forth scoring, the Cougars broke the game open with eight runs in the fifth, highlighted by RBI hits from Ainsworth and Barthel. Barthel finished with two hits and three RBIs to lead a 10-hit effort. Page earned the win on the mound, tossing four innings, while White closed the door for the save. Northwest Rankin returns to action Friday against Hattiesburg.

+ LEWISBURG VS. CORINTH

Corinth edged Lewisburg 3-2 on Thursday in a tightly contested matchup highlighted by strong pitching on both sides. After falling behind 2-0, the Warriors answered with three runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. Pierce earned the win, allowing two runs over four innings with six strikeouts, while Mitchell closed it out with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for the save. Skelton and Lester each drove in a run for Corinth, while Lewisburg was led by two-hit performances from Nelson and Butler. Both teams showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks apiece, but Corinth’s clean defense helped seal the victory.

+ JACKSON PREP VS. RIVERFIELD ACADEMY

Jackson Prep secured a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over Riverfield Academy on Thursday, ending the game in the eighth inning when Smith drew a bases-loaded walk. The Patriots jumped out early with RBI hits from Davidson and Milner, then answered Riverfield’s three-run sixth with a game-tying RBI single from Young in the seventh. Young drove in two runs to lead the offense, while Davidson, Essary, and Milner each collected two hits in a 10-hit effort. Miller set the tone on the mound with 4.1 hitless innings and nine strikeouts, and Witcher earned the win with a scoreless frame in relief.

+ LAFAYETTE VS. GRENADA

Grenada earned a 5-4 walk-off win over Lafayette on Thursday, rallying in the bottom of the seventh when Housel delivered a two-run single to seal the victory. The Chargers traded leads throughout, getting RBI contributions from Newcomb and Lee in the fifth before Lafayette moved back in front in the sixth. Trusty picked up the win in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings, while Renfro struck out seven over four frames in the start. Housel drove in two to lead Grenada at the plate as the Chargers now turn their attention to Bayou Academy on Tuesday.
