2026 CHSAA Team Preview: Valor Christian HS

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 5th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK:

At the core of this team’s identity is its competitiveness and collective approach, with players willing to play for one another and embrace roles as needed. That mentality, paired with a roster full of emerging young talent and impact arms, sets the stage not only for immediate impact this season, but for sustained success over the next few years.

The pitching staff stands out as a potential separator, headlined by impact right-handers ('27 Will Hayes / '27 Carson Medina) and supported by a strong couple of southpaw arms ('27 Luke Blasco / '28 Rex Johnson) that give the coaching staff flexibility in matchups. That mix should allow this team to control tempo and keep opponents off balance throughout the spring.

Offensively, Travis Kenz returns at shortstop with the chance to build on a breakout campaign and further establish himself as one of the top position players in the state. His continued development will be a key storyline as the season unfolds and could elevate the ceiling of an already talented roster along side some potential productive bats like Trystan Chadwick, Rex Johnson, Bridger Kindsfater, and Cody Dean.

With depth, competitiveness, and upside throughout the lineup, this group has the makeup of a team that can contend now while continuing to trend upward in the seasons ahead. For a program that just won 5A state in 2023, the Eagles are looking to get back to another deep playoff run this spring. Some important matchups for Valor Christian this spring are against Cherry Creek, Regis Jesuit, Ralston Valley (2x), and Arvada West (2x).
