2026 KY High School Team Previews: Volume VI

Opening day for the KHSAA baseball season is quickly approaching and our staff has shifted focus to preparing for the spring! We’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the state. Their responses have been flooding in, and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis! Read along for our next handful of team previews.

Green County Dragons 


Region 5 | District 18
Head Coach: Brennen Milby

Green County enters 2026 as one of the most proven offensive units in the state after a historic 2025 campaign and a deep postseason run.

2025 Recap
The Dragons finished 20–12, capturing the 18th District Championship and advancing to the 5th Region Finals. Offensively, Green County ranked 11th in the state in batting average, 3rd in home runs, and top-30 in doubles and runs scored.

Six returners hit .310 or better last season, led by Houk (.412 AVG, 9 HR) and Squires (.394 AVG, 6 HR).

Pitching & Depth
Green County returns five of its top seven arms, including Durrett (47.2 IP, 3.23 ERA), with younger arms ready to contribute.

Team Identity
This is an offense-driven group with disciplined approaches, power throughout the lineup, solid pitching depth, and sound defense.

Outlook
Expectation level is four, with the Dragons firmly positioned as region title contenders.

Scott County Cardinals

Region 4 | District 13

The Cougars finished 22–13, winning the 2A Sectional and 13th District Championship.

Montgomery County Indians 


Region 10 | District 40

Montgomery County enters 2026 with confidence after an extra-inning 10th Region runner-up finish and one of the most balanced rosters in the region.

2025 Recap
The Indians finished 20–15, losing the 10th Region Championship to Harrison County in extra innings.
