2026 OSSAA Team Preview: Hennessey Eagles

Prep Baseball Oklahoma Staff

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 23 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

Coach’s Insight: “We have a very young team but relying on an athletic defense will be one of our strengths this season to help us limit runs with the young arms on the mound. The ability to limit walks and pound the strike zone with multiple pitches is the biggest weakness to focus on this season.” – Tanner Black, head coach

Outlook: The Eagles will lean into a combination of youth and experience in 2026 as they develop throughout the spring. Despite losing key pieces from last year's squad, they will welcome youth that have the opportunity to make an impact at the varsity level right away. They will be a group that develops throughout the spring, and will be a much different team in May than they are in early March. With that, they offer versatility with guys that can defend in different spots around the diamond and the ability to consistently attack the strike zone on the mound will be vital in their success. In a competitive 3A District 4, Hennessey is a scary team that will only improve down the stretch as they continue to develop and utilize their athleticism in all phases.
