Overall Summary

Othello should be a strong contender for the 2A state title after falling just short in 2025. The Huskies will be anchored by their pitching, led by their two returning innings leaders in Aiden Garza and Xzyyvn Martinez. Garza, a senior, logged 47.1 IP last spring with a 2.81 ERA, bringing experience and stability to the rotation, while Martinez, a junior has been seen into the mid-80's at multiple Prep Baseball events and had a 1.04 ERA last season. Two-way talent and Seattle U commit Quade Gonzalez IV should also contribute on the mound. Gonzalez's electric fastball topped out at over 90 MPH at last summer's PNW State Games, in addition to his ability to provide significant power in the middle of the batting order. Elsewhere offensively, senior Whitworth commit RJay Garza returns after leading the team hitting .470 last season. The 6'2 outfielder has centerfield speed and gap to gap power atop a lineup. Junior Ryan Martinez also had a stellar 2025 season and figures to return to the top part of the lineup. Replacing the infield will be a key storyline to follow heading into 2026, but the Huskies should return enough bats to dominate on the offensive side of the baseball. Head coach Sonny Garza is circling games against Selah, Ellensburg and East Valley heading into the spring. Expect Othello to once again be a dominant 2A side in 2026.
