On Saturday February 7th, Prep Baseball Washington hosted the Central Washington Preseason ID at The Six Athletic Training Facility in Moses Lake. Prep Baseball scouts evaluated high school athletes in the 2026-2030 graduating classes, with several strong showings throughout the event.

Preseason ID events serve as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, providing Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains. Standout performances can lead to invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events, including the Pacific Northwest State GamesPrep Baseball Future Games, and more.

Today, we release our Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on standout players. Players are listed alphabetically by last name. Stay tuned the remained of this week for complete event coverage. For all other post-event content, click here.

Quick Hits

'28 C/RHP Owen Beaver (Hanford)
The sophomore added strength since previous look in a 6'1 frame, moving well on both sides of the baseball. Sets in a slightly open stance at the plate, creating separation with a heavier barrel through the zone. Flatter approach produced consistent BP rounds, peaking with a 97.3 MPH exit velocity and averaging over 89 MPH. Arm strength present defensively with 75 MPH throws and a 1.94 second pop time at his best.

'27 OF Griffin Butler (Wenatchee)
Lean, long-limbed 6'3 athlete showed familiar smoothness and upside to his game. Stays compact through setup and start of swing with a steady toe-tap load, working short-to-long with a middle of the field approach. Set a new personal best with a 98.7 MPH exit velocity. Quality showing in the defensive portion of the workout, moving with ease and working momentum through both ground and fly balls well. High 3/4 slot throws with lower gloveside follow resulted in throws up to 86 MPH. 6.88 runner last summer, projecs to a corner OF spot in the future.

'28 C Holt Dissmore (Ferris)
A 6'2 backstop with a well-rounded skillset, Dissmore continued to trend upward with a quality look in Moses Lake this weekend. Gap power shown with added pop since last summer, peaking with a 94.3 MPH exit velocity and balls hit up to 360 feet. The sound swing held strength at contact with tight levers throughout and a controlled two-handed finish. One of the better defensive looks at catcher with throws on and around the bag with a best pop time of 1.97 seconds. Righty bat to watch with a chance to pop in Spokane this spring.

'28 OF/RHP Hunter Fawcett (Ferris)
Showcased significant strides in his game offensively, turning into a name to know in the Spokane area. The physically imposing 6'5 sophomore held a quieter stance with low hands pre-pitch into a strong move to contact. Produced a 99.7 MPH max exit velocity, over a 12 MPH jump from last summer. Was on the barrel throughout both BP rounds with an average EV of 93.3 MPH. Improved look defensively as well, showcasing controlled movements and fielding over glove side before releasing 3/4 slot throws up to 83 MPH from the outfield.

'26 INF/RHP Bam Fenter (Coeur D'Alene, ID/Lewis-Clark State)
One of the loudest showings of the preseason so far, Fenter led the event in several major statistical categories and showcased two-way ability that could play in a big way at the collegiate level. The 6'3 senior generated plus bat speed and moved efficiently at the plate, producing exit velocities up to 105.5 MPH. Consistently drove the ball with some loft in the swing, peaking with a 386 foot batted ball distance. More of a corner INF type defensively with longer limbs and fluid movements, with plenty of power for the 3B position. On the mound, Fenter led the event with a fastball up to 89.4 MPH, paired with a 2400 RPM slider as well. Must-follow out of Idaho.

'28 RHP/INF Casey French (Chiawana)
The sturdy-strong, high-waisted sophomore played larger than his 6'1 listed height, showcasing his two-way ability over the weekend. Produced the highest average hand speed and second highest average bat speed of the event to punish balls up to 99.1 MPH. Flatter, line drive approach shown on this look, with a more narrow setup into a low stride with an aggressive two-handed finish. Generated throws up to 85 MPH from the infield with developing range. Also worked his fastball up to 84 MPH on the mound with more to add down the line.

'28 1B/LHP Carson Gaumer (West Valley)
After a breakout Freshman campaign, Gaumer is trending up in all areas of his game and should continue to dominate the state sheet this spring. On the mound, he has noticable confidence in his stuff and shows one of the better FB/SL pairings we've seen in the class. From the left side, he ran the FB up to 83.5 but velocity doesn't pain the whole picture of his pitching ability. Working with a tight, compact arm action, he gets some added deception with late hand speed out front and easy intent. Manipulates his offerings to all parts of the zone. Offensively he has a powerful left-handed swing with some classic lefty loft after contact. Uses the ground well at the plate and gets bat speed through his core with easy rotation. Yet another talented 2-way prospect to know in this class.

'27 OF Leomar Gonzalez (Southridge)
The junior impressed at his first Prep Baseball showcase as one of several Southridge HS players with quality showings. The wiry-strong medium-framed athlete ran a 7.06 second 60 to kick off his event, moving well with shorter strides in the OF defensive portion of the workout. Easy arm speed as momentum carried through with throws up to 87 MPH. Offensively, Gonzalez started in an open setup with a shorter stride as the front shoulder coiled inward, generating some whip through the zone with a firm front side at contact. Gap to gap approach with some force to all fields, producing a 96.6 MPH peak exit velocity. Uncommitted player to circle this spring.

'30 C/RHP Sutton Hodge (Homeschool, MT)
Hailing from the state of Montana, Hodge was one of the youngest prospets in attendance Saturday but that did not deter him from having a standout performance. With a strong, 6'1, 187 lb frame, Hodge already possesses present strength that translates to all aspects of his game. Defensively there's arm strength behind the plate and he plays low for a bigger bodied catcher. Showed impressive consistency at the plate and present power. Average EV held 88.2 mph with a peak up to 94.3. On the mound, he topped at 82 mph, held 78 - 81 and used a 3 pitch mix with his SL and CH. Overall, a promising young talent with tools to impact the game in multiple ways.

'28 1B/LHP Trey Holdren (Southridge)
Arguably the best lefthanded bat in Washington's sophomore class continued to separate himself with a stellar BP showing this weekend. Holdren sets in a quieter, open, more narrow stance, utilizing a hovering toe-tap load to land. Maintains consistent balance and innate feel for the barrel with an ability to get his "A" swing off as well. Creates loft with some barrel whip, resulting in exit velocities up to 101.3 MPH and balls hit up to 376 feet. Also exhibited sound defensive ability at 1B with ability to move laterally. On the mound, the lefty sat 80-83 T83.4 with his fastball, mixing in a changeup and curveball as well. Must-follow in the '28 class.

'27 INF/RHP Xzyyvn Martinez (Othello)
The Othello product set new bests left and right at his latest showcase this weekend. On the mound, the righthander moved well, utilizing the most of his frame to work a fastball up to 88.7 MPH, paired with a slider averaging nearly 2500 RPM. At the plate, the lefty bat was on the barrel from the jump with a lofted, pull-oriented approach, peaking with a 96.3 MPH exit velocity. The defense looked to have taken a step forward as well, displaying softer hands at a corner with throws up to 89 MPH across the diamond. Intriguing prospect on a high school team with high expectations in 2026.

'29 RHP Mason Meseberg (Royal)
Physically advanced Freshman impressed with his raw athleticism throughout the day. Most notably, the arm talent really shined with an OF velo up to 84 mph and a FB that topped at 86.2 mph. For his bullpen, he pitched 83 - 86 from a shorter, more compact arm action with aggressive hand speed out front. Maintains a simple arsenal with a power CB at 75 mph as his main secondary offering. At the plate, his EV was up to 95.4 from the left side with strong rotational numbers from Blast. Overall, he's a quality mover for his size and age and the overall skillset should sharpen quickly as he continues to gain reps and experience. Definitely a name to circle in the class.

'28 OF/LHP Carter Peone (Ellensburg)
Compact-framed lefty displayed athleticism and offensive ability in this look, highlighted by a near event-best 6.91 60-yard dash time. Quickness for all three OF spots defensively with throws up to 80 MPH. Offensively, Peone set up in a more relaxed, slightly open stance, working through a longer toe-tap land as the hands stayed tight and direct to contact. Head stayed down through contact well with a tighter turn and an abbreviated two hand finish. Peaked with a 96.9 MPH exit velocity, averaging 88.5 MPH. Quality showing start to finish.

'28 OF Jonathan Purcell (Moses Lake)
A talented piece of the loaded 2028 class. Purcell impressed across multiple looks last year, including big in-game performances at both the PNW State Games and West Coast Super Sophomore event. A mature hitter with a polished left-handed swing and plate discipline, Purcell controls the barrel with confidence and has the traits of a pure hitter. Defensively he has the speed and talent to stay in CF and with the OF arm jumping up to 87 mph, he can easily man a corner spot if needed. Poised for a big sophomore year.

'28 RHP/INF Colton Smith (Ferris)
You will be hard pressed to find another prospect who made bigger jumps in nearly every facet of his game in the last year. If bigger, stronger, faster was the mantra, Colton Smith delivered. Saturday, the talented 2-way prospect saw his peak EV go from 91.1 all the way up to 99.5 mph. His peak FB also jumped from 84.4 mph in July to 88.7 mph this weekend. He also hit 86 mph from the INF, which was a 10 mph jump from 2025. And all the while he also turned in an improved time in the 60. Overall, Smith has a throwback type of presence to his game and his ability to hit from the left side and throw at a high level makes him a must watch this spring in the 2028 class.

'27 RHP/INF Scout Symmes (West Valley)
After a strong showing last summer in Spokane, Symmes built on his performance with improved metrics across the board and cemented himself as a 2-way prospect to watch in the Junior class. Lean, wiry athlete with short distance burst and sub 7 times in the 60, the talent is there to stick in the middle of the diamond. Showed impressive bat speed with big output in his rotational acceleration at the plate. Allowing him to impact the ball up to 97 mph. On the mound, the FB has riding life at 87-89 and finds the bottom of the zone consistently. Given the arm speed and frame, expect the pure stuff on the mound to steadily improve for Symmes throughout the year.

'27 C Ryan Wade (Southridge)
Compact-framed junior had among the best defensive showings at catcher, with twitchy actions and a quick transfer resulting in a 1.84 second pop time. 7.3 runner set several new personal-best metrics in Moses Lake offensively, including exit velocities up to 92.3 MPH and balls hit up to 333 feet. The swing worked well and should play in-game, with a balanced setup into a repeatable, more compact path to contact. Maintained consistent posture with a controlled two-handed finish, driving balls in the air in BP rounds.
