2026 High School Team Previews: Mira Mesa Marauders

The 2026 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK
Mira Mesa heads into the 2026 season looking to build momentum with a roster defined by a team-first mindset and strong fundamental play under head coach Mike Bovee. After a 12–17 finish in 2025, the Marauders return four starters and two pitchers, bringing back a group that competes hard, plays with consistent effort. Mira Mesa will look to rely on clean defense and situational hitting as they look to compete throughout league play.
The returning group is led by OF/LHP Tristan Aguon (2026), a key two-way presence who impacts the game both in the outfield and on the mound. The junior class provides strong versatility, with C/RHP Ziggy Avinion (2027) offering leadership behind the plate and innings on the mound, INF/C/RHP Caleb Gerlach (2027) filling multiple roles across the field, and RHP/INF Dylan Pham (2027) adding intrigue as both an arm and infielder. OF Aaron Jones (2027) will look to be a consistent presence in the outfield, helping set the tone offensively and defensively.
Younger pieces like INF/RHP Jacob Asuncion (2028) and RHP Aedan Bovee (2028) add depth and upside to the pitching staff and infield as they continue to develop. If the Marauders continue to buy into their identity and get steady growth from their returning arms, Mira Mesa has the makeup to take a step forward in 2026.
