Houston Preseason ID: Outfielder Analysis

On Sunday, January 4th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Rice University in Houston, TX, to host the Houston Preseason ID, an open event for all high school classes.
More than 40 players made their way to Rice and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We've already posted a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting more of the traditional statistical categories, as well as a Takeaways, highlighting some of the events top performers, while also posting Data Dives for both Pitchers and Position Players.
Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on every outfielder in attendance from the event.
ALL OUTFIELD PROSPECTS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Kai Anderson, Ridge Point (TX), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP RHH/OF Projects well physically. Plus runner with room to add speed. Athletic mover on the field. Shows some range defensively with quick feet and glove actions present. Has a feel for rhythm and timing with feet and hands. Solid arm with a clean path. Ball has good spin and some carry. Arm projects to above average. Solid hit/power combo with some pull side pop. Raw swing with athletic movements. Small adjustments will add plate coverage and power. Has a chance to play at a high level with development.
Body: 6-1, 197 pounds. Athletic body. Some now strength to lower. Great build/frame to add strength in future.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup with small knee lift load. Hands work into solid launch position. Can shift more weight in legs to get more 50/50. Works short to ball with elbows and hands. Pretty flat path of barrel throughout stroke. Can stay through zone longer with weight shift adjustments. 69.6 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 mph max exit velocity (92.3 avg.); 344-foot max batted distance. Solid hit/power combo now. Projects to increase both in future.
Arm: RH. OF - 80 mph. Compact/full arm path hand speed present. Will add more velo with maturity.
Defense: Very quick feet with athletic movements. Rangy. Good rhythm and timing. Glove action present.
Athletic Testing: 6.94 runner in the 60-yard dash; 22.60-inch max vertical jump. Plus runner now. Good stride length and direction. Projects to add speed with maturity.

Damien Barrabi, Jordan (TX), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/RHP LHH/OF Projectable player. Good runner now and projects to add speed. Singles/doubles style hitter with a short/compact swing. Shows feel for barrel. Movement patterns keep improving Shows well in OF play. Feet are quick with feel for timing. Solid arm strength with some carry. RHP Solid arm with above avg projection. FB spins well with some late life. SL shows good sweep. Feel for all pitches with a repeatable delivery. Watch development.
Body: 5-9, 152 pounds. Avg width to shoulders and back. Athletic frame. Projects well to add strength.
Hit: LHH. Slightly open setup with a wider base. Works into solid launch with hands and hips. Can shift a little bit more weight in lower on stride. Will allow more plate coverage and power. Swing is improving. Bat gets flat through the zone with a good slot. Generally stays inside the baseball with elbows and hands. Misses come from being a little too much on back side with weight. 68.5 mph bat speed with 15g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (82.2 avg.); 318-foot max batted distance. Hit over power now. Projects to be solid hit/power combo in future with adjustments and maturity.
Arm: RH. OF - 83 mph. Compact and clean arm path. Projects to above average arm.

Davis Bartee, Ridge Point (TX), 2028
Positional Profile: 3B/OF RHH/INF/OF Very projectable body with upside. Shows some natural strength. Some pull side pop with raw movement patterns. Hit over power now and projects to solid combo in future. Defensively, has quick feet with good rhythm. Raw talent on the INF. More comfortable in OF play. Watch development.
Body: 6-4, 199 pounds. Width to shoulders and back. Great build/frame to add strength in future. Projects well physically.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup with wider base. Hands work into solid launch position. Can shift weight to more 50/50 at front foot strike. Barrel stays flat through zone. Some length to swing. Will improve with weight shift adjustments. 66.6 mph bat speed with 14g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 mph max exit velocity (84.4 avg.); 323-foot max batted distance. Hit over power now. Projects to be solid hit/power combo in future with adjustments and maturity.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. OF - 79 mph. Compact arm path with decent spin to ball. Velo will improve with consistent throwing program.
Defense: Feet work with solid rhythm. Can carry glove inside of shoulders en route to ball for timing. Looks more comfortable in OF play.
Athletic Testing: 7.42 runner in the 60-yard dash; 20.60-inch max vertical jump. Decent start. Gets to good stride length around 30 yards. Work to get to stride within 10 yards for better speed.

Easton Brunson, Goose Creek (TX), 2027 | Texas A&M commit
Positional Profile: 1B/OF LHH/1B/OF Very athletic and projectable player with multiple tools. Strong frame. Plus runner and mover that translates on the field. Shows middle of the order pull side pop. Projectable pop to all fields. Decent actions at 1B with quick feet and good hands. More natural look in the OF where speed plays. Good arm with more in the tank. Very projectable.
Body: 5-11, 188 pounds. Good build/frame now. Will continue to add strength in future. Projects well physically.
Hit: LHH. Balanced setup with toe tap load. Hands work into solid launch with rhythm to hands and feet. Comes out of hip hinge to early. Causes front side to open and lengthens swing. Barrel stays flat through the zone. Creates hand and barrel speed. Bat path comes across at times when front shoulder opens early. 81.5 mph bat speed with 22g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 103 mph max exit velocity (88.9 avg.); 350-foot max batted distance. Solid hit/power combo. Projects to be G2G guy with some HR juice.
Arm: RH. INF - 76 mph. OF - 88 mph. Compact arm path with some carry. Hand speed present.
Defense: Quick feet and good actions defensively. Can improve on rhythm and timing. Chop steps to accelerate through catch. Will help with picking hops and momentum of throw.

Dillon Cooper, Lamar (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP RHH/OF Projects well physically. Decent runner/mover. Shows some strength to his bat with ability to impact the baseball. Solid path with barrel and hands through the zone. Projects to G2G style hitter at higher levels with continued development. Steady defender in the OF with decent feet and glove actions. Avg arm strength for age group. Will firm with maturity. Watch development.
Body: 5-11, 190 pounds. Solid build and frame to add strength in future. Width to shoulders and back. Some lower strength present.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open setup with small leg lift. Works into slightly closed launch. Hands get into good position at foot strike. Feel front shoulder work under chin while lower strides forward. Tres Esquibel, Atascocita (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/OF LHH/INF/OF Solid build/frame to add strength in future. Run times will firm. Steady left handed bat with doubles pop. Shows quick hands and ability to turn barrel out. Solid defender in both INF and OF. Feet work with glove actions present. Avg arm strength with ability to firm. Accurate thrower. Watch progress.
Body: 5-6, 152 pounds. Will add strength in future. Avg width to shoulders and back. Solid lower.
Hit: LHH. Slightly closed setup working into an athletic launch. Hands work into good hitting position. Good bat path with barrel in zone throughout. Quick hands. Can turn barrel out. Sneaky juice. Misses are when back elbow does not clear body going forward. 65 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.
Power: Solid hit/power now. Will add pop with future strength.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. OF - 79 mph. Compact path with some hand speed. Quick exchange. Spins ball well. Accurate thrower.
Defense: Feet work. Plays through ball well in OF. Gets ball in air quickly. Shows some mobility on the dirt. Glove actions present. Tendency to play ball off right hip instead of left.

Raw talent defensively. Shows mobility with quick feet and solid glove actions at INF and OF. Arm strength will firm with active throwing program. Watch development. Projects well.

Projects solid hit/power combo in future with maturity. Shows mobility defensively. Feet and glove work in INF and OF. Moves athletically. Projectable arm with clean/short stroke. Good hand speed.
