2025 Prep Baseball Iowa Preseason ID-Eastern Iowa: Quick Hits

On Sunday, February 8th, the Prep Baseball Iowa staff hosted the Preseason ID-Eastern Iowa at the Eastern Iowa Sports Facility in Monticello, Iowa. This event marked the beginning of our long winter calendar and was a great way to kick things off, as over 30 players from around the state made the trip to showcase the gains they had made in the off-season.

Today, we are taking a look at some of the players that stood out to our scouting staff, with reports and comments on their showings, below.


QUICK HITS

Garrett Sandersfeld RHP / OF / Liberty High School, IA / 2027


Projectable 6'2" 180-pound frame with athletic actions at the plate, in the outfield, and on the mound. Produces a high peak exit velocity with consistent average EVs, showing strength and bat speed. Two-way potential with the ability to attack the zone on the mound and work with a three-pitch mix.

Jade Mielk RHP / 3B / Northeast, IA / 2027

Physical 6'2" 205-pound frame with versatility as a right-handed pitcher and corner infielder. Shows developing power at the plate with consistent barrel contact and athletic infield actions. Continued strength gains should translate to added velocity on the mound.

Holden Loy SS / RHP / Assumption High School, IA / 2029

Quick-twitch athlete at 5'11" 150 pounds with impact potential on both sides of the ball. Generates impressive exit velocities for his class and features a short, efficient arm action across the infield and on the mound. Displays pitchability with feel for his arsenal, highlighted by a tight, well-shaped slider.
