2026 High School Team Preview: Troup County

Ian Smith
Associate Scout

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

2025 was nothing short of magical for the Tigers as they set a new school-record for wins in the midst of the first ever state championship for Troup County. Coach Glisson returns a championship-level roster this spring and expectations will be high in LaGrange. Athletes all over the diamond for the Tigers, and it starts with senior OF Garrison Edwards. The dual-sport talent brings a dynamic run tool that impacts the game at the top of the lineup as well as patrolling CF at a high-level. Athleticism continues in the outfield with the junior duo of OF Trey Dean and OF Davis Moncus, who bring CF tools in the corner outfield spots and makes this outfield defense one of the main assets on this team. Moncus also broke out as one of the two-ways for this team last spring and is poised for an even bigger impact in 2026. A pair of committed seniors in 3B Carson Walker and 2B Torreion Delaney highlight the infield with middle-of-the-order bats and consistent defense. Junior SS Chase Mosley was another breakout for this team last spring and will be an x-factor as the all-around profile impacts the game in many factors. Two more juniors in C Brady Willis and 1B Courtney Wilson return as starters for this club with winning experience and leadership to bring this lineup together. For as deep as the offense is, the Tigers return their SP1 in uncommitted senior RHP Jake Perry, who grew leaps and bounds as he carried this staff last year and comes into the spring with immense confidence and pitchability to match his performance and then some in 2026. Bullpen depth is substantial which is paramount for handling the challenges of winning the region and making a playoff run. It’s rare when you have a complete roster that knows what it takes to get it done, and Coach Glisson understands what kind of luxury he has. The path to back-to-back rings is not out of the question.
