Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Fresh off a championship run and stepping into a new classification, Presbyterian Christian enters the spring with plenty of intrigue. After winning the MAIS 6A title a year ago, the Bobcats now make the jump to MHSAA 3A, bringing a roster that’s already proven it can handle big moments under head coach Jarrett Hoffpauir.

The lineup returns a strong core of experienced pieces. Jet Henderson (2026) gives PCS versatility, while Tyner Flynt (2026) and Bankston Walters (2026) anchor the group with athleticism and impact on both sides of the ball. Aaron Alston (2026, Pearl River CC) adds another reliable bat, and the 2027 class highlighted by Reed Bridges, Brennon Thoms, and Kade Welford provides depth and upside throughout the infield and behind the plate.

On the mound, the Bobcats lean on two proven arms. Flynt (2026, Troy) brings a polished left-handed look, while Walters (2026, Southern Miss) supplies power and presence as a right-hander. That duo gives PCS a steady foundation in a rotation that doesn’t need to be flashy to be effective. Additional help from names like Gaines Russum (2026) and Seth Hataway (2027) only strengthens the staff.

With championship experience, returning leadership, and a roster that blends physicality with versatility, Presbyterian Christian looks well-equipped to make noise immediately in its new 3A home.
