2026 OSSAA Team Preview: Bartlesville Bruins

Prep Baseball Oklahoma Staff

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 23 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

Coach’s Insight: “We have more depth than any year since I've been here. 4 impact transfers. We should be better offensively than the last 2 seasons. We are still figuring out what our district rotation looks like, but pitching depth should be better as well. We will be inexperienced when it comes to guys throwing in district games, but I believe our newcomers will respond well. We also have some guys still working back from injuries. ” – Cody Price , head coach

Outlook: Bartlesville will return a core that includes a district starter and shorstop Barret Merciez in 2026, and to take the next step after a solid campagin that eventually ended in the Stillwater Regional. They have added four transfers that will immediately bolster the squad's depth both on the mound and lengthen the lineup. Further, they will return various players that gained valuable experience at the varsity level a year ago and we would expect them to hit the ground running. The Bruins struggled down the stretch a season ago with their lack of depth being a big reason as to why. As the spring gets underway, expect Bartlesville to be a dark horse, playing fundamental baseball and not beating themselves, in a highly competitive 6A District 4 that will be loaded with young, exciting talent.
