2026 North Carolina High School Baseball Previews

As the 2026 high school baseball season approaches, Prep Baseball is proud to roll out our annual North Carolina High School Baseball Previews, spotlighting programs from across the state.

Information for these previews was gathered directly by Prep Baseball’s scouting staff, along with detailed preseason questionnaires submitted by high school coaches statewide. Coaches provided insight into their returning players, team strengths and weaknesses, offseason development, and overall outlook heading into the spring. Every program that completed the questionnaire will receive a team preview as part of this series.

The goal of the North Carolina High School Baseball Previews is simple: highlight high school baseball across the state and bring attention to impact players at every level. From established contenders and defending champions to emerging programs and under-the-radar rosters, this series is designed to give readers a comprehensive look at the teams and athletes shaping the 2026 season.

Previews will be released by region, with two regions published each day, making it easy to follow along and track storylines as opening day approaches. Each team breakdown will include an overview, projected strengths and areas to watch, and key players to follow — with an emphasis on prospects making noise within Prep Baseball’s coverage.

We appreciate the time and effort from the coaches who contributed to this project and look forward to covering what promises to be another competitive and talent-filled spring across North Carolina.

Prep Baseball NC Scout Notes:
The Eagles return a big arm in Peyton Crews and a big bat in Chase Smith. Smith will pace an offense that is primed to score a bunch of runs in 2026. Crews will lead a staff that is looking to fill over 100 lost innings from 2025. The ability for the offense to hit early and give the pitching staff time to fulfill their potential could lead to another year with high hopes in the playoffs.

Coach Ijames has done a good job in recent years of developing a very complimentary team. With a bunch of new faces in 2026 the Bobcats will rely on their athleticism to produce run scoring chances while supporting a pitching staff that will look for rewards in the strike zone. Derrick Stevens returns to anchor the infield after hitting .300 in 2025.

Prep Baseball NC Scout Notes:
The Panthers were off several years of high expectations, entering 2025. The leaned on young arms and a developing lineup. Now in 2026, Coach Houchins returns a big chunk of his lineup as well as his innings. Several of the underclassmen from 2025 have taken steps forward in their development, primed for big years in 2026. Zachary Grogan, Jackson Silvers, and Ben Wade should anchor a pitching staff that will be handled by catcher Judson Friese.

The regular season and tournament champions look to make another run in May in 2026. Evan Woods, the Conference Player of the Year in '25, returns to lead a pitching staff with high expectations. The depth on the mound should allow the Vikings time to solidify their lineup and how they want to attack on offense.

The 2025 season ended in a 1 run loss to the eventual State Runner-Up. In 2026, the Chargers return their top 4 arms, including Finn Sullivan and Zeke Wicker. Pair the arms with a deep lineup that could strike quickly in any inning. While the roster is still young, there is experience in the 2027 class and Dylan Perry can anchor the infield defense as a Senior.

Prep Baseball NC Scout Notes:
The Grizzlies have made deep runs in the playoffs each of the past 2 years. While they lost some power from their 20 team HRs in 2025, they return a SR heavy group that knows how to grind through the year. The pitching staff has talent and depth, led by Carson Everhart, Cam Sharpe, and Aidan Murphy. Everhart and Sharpe will be helped in the lineup by Grayson Messer and Addison Terry. Terry also gives the pitching staff an experienced receiver behind the dish.

The 2025 Tigers exemplified a pillar of their program, the ability to get better throughout the year, including a late 10-game win streak. The 2026 version may be more athletic with more pitching depth. Elijah McNeil is a SO arm that is worth watching. Kyle Manness posted a 2.05 ERA in '25 with a 5-0 record.

The Cowboys played a challenging schedule in '25 and it paid off in conference play where they went 12-3. The pitching staff will feature four upperclass arms that have been key in the past couple of years. Look for Kaden Morgan to lead the Cowboys on the bump. Offensively, the Cowboys will be searching for their identity early but look for a late run if some of the young hitters take big steps forward.

The Titans dropped a heart breaker in the Regional Semi-finals to Curthbertson. Several keys to that club return with higher aspirations in 2026. The ability for the Seniors to finish their careers on a high note will lead the Titans. Landon Church and Will Holden are the big marquee names in the lineup. Mason Ridings, Gio Buccino, and others could be the cogs that allow the big names to prosper. Look for Greyson Jones to lead the staff on the bump.

The Trojans played one of the toughest schedules in the state in 2025. At times they were beat-up and searching for their identity. That schedule led them to the identity that won the NCISAA 4A State Championship with a grueling run through the playoffs. The 2026 edition will look much different but there is still star power. Blake Goff and Cole Bowman will provide thump in the order. Elijah Martin could be the breakout arm of the spring. Jesse Covington and Mikey Papciak provide high level talent on the mound and in the lineup.

The Raiders are coming off a 22 win season (Program Record) and return a ton of talent from the lineup and mound. Sam Rice, Asa Coplin, and Jacob Raisig will be key pieces to the ability to control other team bats. More talent is coming and there could be some young players step up to add depth on the mound quickly as well. The lineup could be one of the best in the state. Brady Marshall, Tucker McClung, Hudson Tuttle, Carter Huff, Gabe Diebler, and Elijah Davis will all provide depth and flexibility on offense and defense. The Raiders are primed to score a ton of runs in 2026.
