2026 Team Preview: St. Louis Catholic High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is right around the corner, and as always, excitement is building across the Bayou State. Programs from every corner of Louisiana have been hard at work this offseason—honing skills, building chemistry, and setting their sights on a return trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA State Championships. As is tradition, the state is once again loaded with talent, from seasoned veterans to rising underclassmen ready to make their mark.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take an in-depth look at teams from every region as part of our comprehensive season preview series. These previews will lead right up to Opening Day, followed by the release of our Power 25 Rankings and the return of our always-popular Game of the Week feature.

Throughout the spring, Prep Baseball Louisiana will continue to be your one-stop source for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Be sure to check back weekly for our Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, updated Power 25 Rankings, and plenty of additional coverage highlighting the stories, performances, and programs that make Louisiana baseball special.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Preview

Coming off a gritty postseason run that ended in the State Quarterfinals, the St. Louis Catholic Saints enter the 2026 season with a clear identity: experienced, deep, and battle-tested. While offensive power remains the biggest question mark after going two full seasons without a home run, this is a group that understands how to win games in multiple ways and isn’t afraid to grind.

Team Strengths

-Experience & Depth: The Saints return a veteran-heavy roster led by a talented senior class that has logged meaningful innings and at-bats in high-leverage situations. The pitching staff is deep, versatile, and athletic, with multiple arms capable of starting, relieving, and contributing defensively. Defensively, this is a team that plays clean baseball, controls the running game, and consistently puts itself in position to win close games.

Team Weaknesses

-Offensive Power: While St. Louis Catholic can manufacture runs, drive gaps, and pressure defenses on the bases, the lack of over-the-fence power remains an area of emphasis. Extra-base production will be critical if the Saints want to take the next step in the postseason.

Top Returning Players

-Senior INF/RHP Trace Moreau

2025 Accolades: All-SWLA (UTL) | 1st Team All-District (P)

2025 Stats: 67.1 IP | 2.18 ERA | .198 BAA | 5–3 (1 SV)

A true do-it-all competitor, Moreau is the heartbeat of this roster. He brings advanced pitchability with movement on his fastball, a quality slider, and a well-commanded splitter. He controls the run game, fields his position well, and consistently competes in big moments. Offensively, he offers strength in the swing and the ability to play all four infield spots. A high-level athlete with football accolades to match, Moreau impacts the game in every facet.

-Senior RHP/1B Jack Garcille

2025 Accolades: 1st Team All-District (UTL)

2025 Stats: 47.1 IP | 2.66 ERA | 48 K | .166 BAA | 5–1

A physical presence at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Garcille gives the Saints a true anchor on both sides of the ball. His fastball has climbed into the mid-80s with late life, complemented by a full four-pitch mix. At the plate, he’s made strides with barrel control and has legitimate middle-of-the-order potential. Defensively, he’s an outstanding first baseman with soft hands and excellent range.

-Senior INF/RHP Konner Boudreaux

2025 Accolades: All-SWLA (UTL) | 1st Team All-District (UTL)

2025 Stats: 26.1 IP | 2 SV | 19 K | .217 BAA
Offense: .350 AVG | .436 OBP | 7 2B | 1 3B | 22 RBI

One of the most complete players in District 3-3A a year ago, Boudreaux led the Saints in several offensive categories while serving as the team’s closer. His fastball reaches the low-to-mid 80s with a tight breaking ball, and he brings a calm presence in pressure situations. A reliable middle-of-the-order bat and corner infielder, he’s poised for another big spring.

Outlook

The Saints’ focus phrase for 2026 says it all: #NoOneCaresWorkHarder. This is a driven, high-energy group led by 15 seniors determined to finish their careers on top. With depth on the mound, defensive versatility, and a roster full of competitors, St. Louis Catholic has the makeup of a team that can make noise in the Select Division III playoffs. If the offense takes a step forward and continues to pressure opponents, don’t be surprised if this group is still playing deep into May—with one goal in mind: a dog pile.
